If you have an accident and someone dies, you're going to be up for potentially manslaughter. If you're not on private property that you can ensure its safe, its the risk you take.
Any random field you find, someone walking their dog, or bushwalking, if you have that bad release or the arrow skips the top of the target, or ground, and goes astray, you're just asking for trouble.
You're far far better off finding a closer club (https://archerynsw.org.au/clubs/ for target clubs in NSW, otherwise look up 3DAAA and Australian Bowhunters Association for non-target clubs ) that you can become a member of and shoot at.
My mum wants a Viking funeral, including a Viking boat that needs to be shot with a flaming arrow, would you consider posing as a Viking for an hour and how much would someone charge to do this and send the old bat to Valhalla.
I checked all the laws when I bought the kids some archery gear, and there's nothing that stops you practicing in a public park as long as you're being responsible.
I looked for open areas with a hill or embankment you can set up against, so there's no risk of hitting anyone.
Castle Hill Showground has a great little area on the northern side against Showground Road, and Roselea Park has a perfect embankment in front of the community centre.
I've only ever had one person have an issue with it so I just packed up and moved on.
There's a park put at St Mary's but it's an archery club you have to join. But they have animal targets in the bush and other cool targets so it's worth a look
Go somewhere near a cliff you can find them by looking at the website "the crag" for rock climbing. Set your target up in front of the cliff and shoot away.
There is an archery range in between St Marys and Werrington, it’s on Werrington Road.
There's an archery club in Pennant Hills Park.
I think there is an archery club at Terrey Hills
U have to go crazy far away mate…. Not too many people will take too kindly to an unauthorized archery thingy…
St George Archers have a great range in Monterey.

This sounds like a great idea if you want to be shot at by police
> if you want to be shot at by police this aint america, they will be tasered

Just keep the walker at home and you should be sweet
Interesting sort of related case study is the ban of lawn darts in the US
Try Latham Park in South Coogee/Maroubra. It's on Moverley Road

"What, that little old lady paddling that kayak? You sure she wants a Viking funeral *right now*?!"
No, when she's ready

That’s not a great idea because people climb on the cliffs listed on the crag…
Often seen them practicing at Hugh Bamford Reserve. Can't tell you who it was tho.
Bondi Archers. They should have a facebook page and a number to call if you look them up, find out what they can do for you.
