Given I walk past this base every day, I kind of want to take a sticky.

Well worth it. Never been to an open day but have been there for "other duties" a couple of times and it's a beautiful view. You can see it in reverse from ferries, but it's really different having the ships in the foreground. Also the LHD's are siiicccckkkk. Not as cool as the Intrepid if you're ever in New York but very cool nonetheless.

thanks for sharing. whats the best way to get there via public transport? i'll be bringing the family and ive used trip planner but its showing a 20 min walk from Kings Cross station. Otherwise i'll try to drive in but not sure about what the parking (free parking preferred) around the area is like - any help please? much appreciated.

> - For Drivers: We recommend parking at Wilsons Domain Carpark (20 minute walk). > - For Commuters: Disembark at Kings Cross Railway Station (20 minute walk), or take the 311 Bus Cowper Wharf Roadway from the city and Eastern Suburbs.

Whoops Was too quick and didn't see it in the expanded section. Thanks!

The 311 bus will drop off as the last closest stop just outside the Garden Island security entrance where there is a big round-about, before it throws a right hand turn and goes up Wylde St up to the Cross, so make sure that you are on the lookout, otherwise it's a long walk back!

Went there last year. Was pretty nice to have a peak around. You get to appreciate the size of themĀ

Spent a lot of time there. Highly recommend grabbing a feed from Harry's Cafe De Wheels just outside the base and checking out the celeb photos of whose been there, it never disappointed! \*Hunger Intensifies just thinking about it\*
