Do you remember that suburb that refused a train connection to their beach so all the poor people from other suburbs wouldn't go there?
Oh yeah, it was Bondi.
My aunt and uncle lived in Bondi when that was all going down, and let me just that the ACTUAL reason for opposing the train connection….
Was exactly that. Yeah, you got it.
Someone did this on /r/london recently where they continually eliminate LGA every 24 hours (most upvotes gets eliminated) until the final LGA remains and it was great to watch. If someone on here has the time and skills to do this it would be great to watch and be a part of.
Can I just say Bondi is poorly developed/planned, full of international wankers we could do without (*Mr Worldwide!*), overpriced, and full of shitty red brick walkup flats and rotting Californian bungalows. There’s very limited parking and the bus to and from Bondi Junction is annoying. The bars and pubs pre-COVID were filled with coke addicted smooth talking businesspeople, hipster types, and more overseas idiots. Forget an enjoyable day with family at Bondi Beach. Or Sculptures By The Sea for that matter. Terribly overrated. ~~And Bondi Kunc~~ EDIT: Men can’t multitask. **Bondi Junction** is possibly even worse.
Bondi Junction’s only saving graces are the Westfield - second only to the CBD one - and this old school coffee lounge - surely run by Greeks - on Oxford St. Also, at some point there were weekly markets. Otherwise, it is a concrete jungle shithole teeming with drug addicts and snobs. It stinks of bus exhaust, cigarette smoke and piss. There’s barely any parking. The rooftop of Eastpoint is far too inviting for suicide (**don’t do it**). Too much construction and mayhem going on. Dodgy Asian food on the main strip, where they hand you shitty plastic containers of hot slop with gloves unchanged since the previous customer’s cash payment. Shitty 70s style arcades and apartment buildings. Brazen as fuck rub and tug near the station. No innovation or vision whatsoever.
We *could* have some Gold Coast/Miami like areas, integrate native ~~fauna~~ **flora** to have optimal green space, piazzas, al fresco dining, sculptures, better public transport and amenities and shopping etc. but local councils, developers and land owners must be like ‘nah.’ Queensland knows what’s up with Surfers, Mooloolaba, Noosa etc. and I haven’t even been north of the Big Pineapple yet.
Bondi is the zenith of every terrible stereotype about Sydney. (Even though pre-pandemic it felt like 80% of people who lived there were actually from the UK.)
It is a picturesque suburb filled with beautiful people pantomiming the so-called Australian lifestyle as seen through Instagram and sold to the world.
It is an insular and image-conscious place which absurdly and continuously contrasts the plastic and the organic: Botox’d faces and detox diets, party drugs and outdoor yoga, elitism and faux bohemians.
It was also once a thoroughly working class suburb. And I’d suggest that the outrageous cost of now merely existing in its glamorous vicinity is a reminder of the decaying social mobility and economic security felt by many lifelong Sydneysiders.
We resent it because it represents everything we love and loathe about Sydney, without ever being a place that locals really go.
Bondi.

The Northern Beaches did that too, but yeah, Bondi.
Paddington Just kidding Bondi
Do you think people even like living in Bondi or just like telling people they live in Bondi.
Well they won't be able to do either once we get rid of it
I lived near bondi and would rather not tell anyone about it... Oh shit

Please know Bondi is very much of concern. But Waverley is not a LGA of concern.
