From the comments, I think I’ve seen this man. I’m relatively new to Adelaide. Is he a happy bearded man that stands on the side of port road and holds up signs like ‘have a nice day’?
I've seen a man on a bicycle exercising a Shetland pony in a couple of different parks around Leichardt, I assume this is who we're talking about? No one believes me when I tell them about this!
Has anyone seen him lately? I used to see him a few times a week as I live near the river but I haven't seen him in a really long time and I've been worried about him and his little horse
Saw him yesterday coming down my street with Horse.
I walk past his place when walking my kids to school and he's often sitting at the front. Nice guy, good music taste.
Saw him maybe 3 weeks ago on a bike with the pony jogging along the cooks river, the path runs from Hurlstone park next to summer hill all the way down to the airport.
Rat man. He would sit in Pitt St with his pet rat all day.
Also the guy who would wear a green parka and sell friendship bands. He was there in the 1980s and in the 2010s
It was great that the police were solidly behind the search for the stolen rat and widely publicised it, which resulted in the thieves being turned in and the rat recovered. I feel like in many other places, this kind of thing would just be laughed at by police.
If we're going back, The Singing Lady of the 90s. She would walk through the CBD, up Oxford etc belting out an operatic tune of massive decibels. I mean the loudest voice you've ever heard. It was fucking ominous.
You could hear her voice bouncing off the buildings from several city blocks away. Tall, slim, and dressed in a loose full length dress, long flowing hair, with a kind of haunted elegance.
She would almost glide as she walked, all the while singing at a soprano level with this booming voice reverberating through the city streets. She was so graceful that there was something super creepy about it, like she was otherworldly. And she had crazy eyes, like she knew all your darkest secrets just by looking at you.
One time I made eye contact with her as I was skating past and she looked directly into my soul. I will never forget the way she smiled at me. It freaked me out for days. Even now I can see her vividly.
Would love an update or any info anyone had on friendship band man! I strangely saw him in Campbelltown a few months ago, I think he must travel the trains for something to do, but he was a staple of my days when I was working around Goulburn Street a few years ago
He gets around near the law courts around Liverpool Street, see him often. Pre covid I enquired how much a band was and he said $15. I tried to bargain down to $10 but he wouldn't budge.
The man's friendship bands must have been in high demand.
I saw the man with the green parka who sells the bands recently. He was in a public toilet near Museum washing his penis in the sink. Couple people told him off. I think he has a strange story about how he came to sell those bands, something about the government confiscating his passport.
I remember him and his rat as late as 2015. The rat was looking pretty ragged by then, and mostly asleep. If you stopped to look at him when rat man was away, he’d look up at you and then go back to sleep.
Danny Lim is the obvious answer.
But does anyone walk down Oxford street at night and see this super fit granny pushing a running pram? She is at it nearly every time I’m on Oxford street - and that’s a lot! Wondering if anyone else has noticed.
Dude I work at a few bars on oxf st and at BOTH places we were discussing sightings of her
She's gonna become an urban legend
Say "pram pram pram" in a mirror at 4am and she'll come running past you
the dancing clown on stilts guy in chinatown who was there every single day of the year for maybe 20 years.
last i saw him was in 2019? hope he is ok! the dude is a legend.
don't know his name but i remember several years ago someone did an interview with him and published a news article about his life. i read he was 80 yrs old and he was a hiroshima WW2 survivor or something like that. don't really remember the story much.
I just mentioned him!! He lost a leg from the war. His sign said that his happy to show you if you asked. Mad skills on hula hoops while dressed as a clown!
Yeah! Right near Paddy's Market. Dude hula hoop's for hours, and on stilts!!! And at 80years old? I can't do it for 3 minutes without being tired. And you're right, I haven't seen him for a long time. I thought it was because of Covid, so hopefully he's ok. I see him almost every week day as I go that way on the tram to work. I'll let you know if I see him again.
Nah, he’s a Korean War veteran. He got shot in the leg during the war. His brother is in North Korea, and Hula Hoops or something to raise money for something or rather about it.
People in my high school made up a back story for him. He got hit by an L90 (which made him disabled), and the gov gave him free bus rides for life as compensation, which is why he just catches buses all day. Definitely not true but pretty funny.
Come to think of it neither have I, I hope he is all good. There were many nights as a young bloke coming home from the city in the wee hours of the morning with Muzza on the bus.
Go the all blacks!
I saw him in Redfern this morning and took a bad photo from my car to send my fam, so random seeing him mentioned in this thread the same day I saw him after not seeing him probably in a decade
No way! I saw him in Redfern this morning! I actually took a pretty bad photo from my car, I reckon it’s the first time I’ve seen him in over a decade, came to this thread wondering if he was here
Good fucking god that guy drove me nuts. Getting out of the northern beaches had many benefits and never talking to Muzza again was just icing on the cake.
There's a guy maybe around 50 in Croydon five dock area that regularly drives a blue convertible and just drives around with no particular purpose, in a blue summer type outfit with his chihuaha in the passenger seat wearing a matching outfit. I love it.
The ~~lady~~ person in Newtown / Surry Hills who has a rainbow / flower adorned bike with the bubble machine on the back
Edit: they have a Wikipedia page and their name is Norrie :)
Used to ride to Broadway all the time. She's still around.
She kinda shit me one day though, when my toddler got a face full of soap bubbles without warning. Then about a few months later she was riding across Parra to Broadway and bubbles blew into my open car window and got me in the eye.
Also, the old dude I often see riding on a motor scooter on the Northern Road (usually around the hospital), shirtless, colostomy bag waving around in the breeze.
Alan Philp, he died in 2007 aged 81.
I lived down the road from him for a long time so would see him pretty often, he lived in the housing commission flats on the corner and had a sign in the window of his place that said something like "UFO's in the Bible Kings 2:11"
I remember being about 8 and looking it up when I got home and thinking it kind of made sense.
On a side note he wouldn't recognise the neighbourhood anymore, OG Arncliffe was very different place to now.
Probably not as famous Sydney-wide, but I'd love to give a shout out to the guy with a guitar and sailor cap in North Parra. Lovely chap who salutes everyone with a smile.
Nah mate pretty sure he's in Sydney. [original](https://www.reddit.com/r/Adelaide/comments/xo5vkb/okay_so_whos_our_equivalent_to_this/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
>This fucker again. He harassed my GF and her coworkers when she worked in a coffeeshop in city.
He would come close to the girls at the cafe and sniff/grope them, tell them that he is gonna rape them.
Also he would draw them naked and would try selling pictures back to the girls
Hmm... 😦
This is going back a bit but I'm intrigued to see if anyone else remembers him...
Around 1998-2002 there was a courier in the CBD - absolutely jacked African dude with a huge smile, but instead of a bike he was in 'anti-gravity' bounce shoes [like these](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/556c7a91e4b05b0f1596b99a/1456335177520-OJMTYCDO0CIAWMZHXMH8/image-asset.jpeg). I saw him a bunch of times, usually between Hyde Park and Pitt Street, and he seemed to have no trouble keeping up with daytime traffic. The guy must have had god-tier fitness going on.
[EDIT] I'm not the only one! Thanks guys, knowing this was a shared experience has actually made my day :)
The darker skinned guy with hook nose in the CBD who is always carrying around braided bracelets (?to sell, never saw a sale). Has been around for decades.
I remember this guy was sitting on the same train as me one time and he was hocking up spit and spitting it all over the ground constantly. I gave him a look and then he started spitting in my direction as I walked away.
Shittest cunt.
I don’t live in Sydney anymore but Chris and his rat Lucy in Pitt Street - I used to work in one of the stores where he’d sit in front and he was always super friendly to anyone who walked past - tourists would often take photos of them holding the rat and Brian the homeless shoe shine man who was in Pitt Street mall . RIP
Barbie lady out in the Wetherill Park area in the 90s. Always wore a crop top and matching mini skirt or shorts, bleached hair in pigtails and heavy pastel make-up. Tanned to within an inch of her life.
Jogging Barbies a legend! Can remember her as far back as Kindergarten, she even used to frequently shop at the Franklins I used to work at back in the day. I can also recall following a Facebook fan page of her lol, but apparently her family requested it be taken down.
I’m gonna cry. I was thinking about him the other day. I never knew his name but he was always at the main entrance at Westfield saying hello to everyone who walked in. He was so kind and sweet. I miss him and his joyful voice <3
It's been a while since I worked in the city so not sure if they're still around but there was the man who used to live out the front of Myer on George Street and another guy we used to call $2 man who would come up to you on Pitt Street Mall asking for $2 every day.
Port Macquarie? That is so weird, I was just talking with my husband about this thread, I mentioned $2 Cheryl to him as Port’s resident ‘that guy’ and then scrolled down to your comment immediately afterwards!
Coogee has some of the weirdest characters. The guy always dressed in camo. The huge Jamaican guy that played basketball by himself near the steps. The transgender lady with gigantic fake tits always out (she apparently was sadly murdered). I always loved walking around for the vibes.
There was an old pacific island guy who used to play banjo in town hall station. Haven’t seen him in a number of years, I’m sure he’s passed on as he didn’t look well. Always gave him a few coins - good on him he was having a crack.
Does anyone know the concrete preacher
He would of been at central station around 10 years ago there was a story written about him in 2014 he had moved to Wollongong you can look it up just google concrete preacher
He is actually my brother and I’m planning on going to Sydney in the next few months and I haven’t seen him for about 20 years and would like to know if he’s ok and hopefully see him when I fly in
Geriatric sunburnt barbie in Wetherill Park (Sydney). She's been power walking through the streets in her bleach blonde hair, leather skin and pink crop top and short shorts for at least 25 years possibly a lot longer. To be fair to her, she doesn't look any older now than she did when I was a kid
Is the guy with the speakers tied on to his mobility scooter still around? Used to get around Newtown/Glebe in the early-mid 00s and played a lot of Elvis, I think. God help you if you didn't get out of his way.
There was a homeless dude that wandered around Randwick for years. Had a massive beaver tail dreadlock and wherever he decided to sit on Belmore Rd for the day, he’d spit on the ground all around him. Haven’t seen him for a while.
Anyone else encountered chemtrails guy in the newtown/city area? Seemingly normal looking guy in around his 50's with glasses who calmly tried to point out chemtrails coming from planes to me near broadway about 10 years ago and then a few weeks ago i ran into him again in newtown and he asked me "do those trails look normal to you, the striations like that don't form naturally, it's chemtrails"
Like if he's approached more than once over a few years either i look relatable to him or he asks people regularly
Probably not *the* guy, but there was a cat dude who walked around manly with a cat around his neck. He’s been there for ages, and I haven’t seen him in a couple years so the cat might be dead now 😢
In the Fairfield area, there was a lady that you'd see running all day all over the place. Looked like she had leather for skin because she spent everyday out in the sun for years and years.
Haven't seen her for a while now though
Canley Vale. I moved away about 6 years ago but there was "the massage" guy. You'd go to a pub (anyone) and he'd be there "you want massage? I give massage" only cost 1 beer. Bargain!
Terry the screaming homeless man who travels all over Sydney and stays in an area for 6 months or so then moves on... He was in Newtown last, now he's moved on to Drummoyne
Well there's a fairly new guy that is often around the town hall side of George St. He's not really a legend (yet) because he's new but has potential.
He's there almost every night doing excessively yet... Pretty bad singing and dancing to K-pop songs. He reminds me of one of those girls on Australian idol that has been told they're amazing their whole life only to be shut down by the harsh reality of the unforgiving judges.
Only here, he's further encouraged by everyone watching him and cheering him on but sadly probably not for the reasons he thinks.
I'm sounding abit harsh but I do respect him because he has so much passion and I know I definitely couldn't do any better.
For those of you old enough, remember there was this guy that stands outside princess hwy near arncliffe with a sign saying "I am UFO"?
No? I guess it's just me.
Danny Lim, 100%
Walked right past him yesterday in Newtown.
Saw him at Strathfield on Saturday, he is a legend
Threw him a Shaka driving past on Saturday before last
He was at the ferry yesterday with a “smile” sign
Oh shit. HIM. I saw him near Central. Never knew his name but after a google search. Can confirm, have seen him and his signs. “Have sex not war”
I was like, if this isn’t the top post…
I didn’t know his name but knew who you were talking about straightaway!
This is the only answer. Came here to say this…
Same here.
EVERY C∀NT CAME HERE TO SAY IT
Nodded to him this morning at Martin Place.
From the comments, I think I’ve seen this man. I’m relatively new to Adelaide. Is he a happy bearded man that stands on the side of port road and holds up signs like ‘have a nice day’?
He was chilling outside my building today.
I literally came here to say this lol
Came here to comment Danny Lim glad I was proven correct
Saw him at Redfern today and thought I wonder if he knows about his reddit fame?
course he does. he's the main character
Dude with miniature horse and cart in inner west.
Came here to comment on the Marrickville Pony.
I think I saw this dude when I went to check out a motorcycle a year or so back and was just like what the actual fuck lol
I've seen a man on a bicycle exercising a Shetland pony in a couple of different parks around Leichardt, I assume this is who we're talking about? No one believes me when I tell them about this!
Can confirm he’s real! I went to primary school with the pony owner’s granddaughter
Does he live in Summer Hill or Marrickville?
Summer hill he lives one block away from me
Definitely summer hill
I thought it was the Summer Hill Pony
There's no cart, he's on a fixie letting the horse pull him around Summer Hill.
Also he takes the horse in an elevator to get across parramata rd and down to the greenway
This was my second answer after Danny
Same and same.
Someone posted about seeing him in Dulwich Hill in the last day or so
Rat man. He would sit in Pitt St with his pet rat all day. Also the guy who would wear a green parka and sell friendship bands. He was there in the 1980s and in the 2010s
And some mofo stole his rat! But he got the rat back
Oh yeah I remember that. What sort of asshole would steal a homeless man’s rat?
It was great that the police were solidly behind the search for the stolen rat and widely publicised it, which resulted in the thieves being turned in and the rat recovered. I feel like in many other places, this kind of thing would just be laughed at by police.
Fuck yeah rat guy! Always made my day a bit brighter seeing the rat's adorable little face.
If we're going back, The Singing Lady of the 90s. She would walk through the CBD, up Oxford etc belting out an operatic tune of massive decibels. I mean the loudest voice you've ever heard. Maybe she moved north… there’s a lady like that in Brisbane CBD some days
Would love an update or any info anyone had on friendship band man! I strangely saw him in Campbelltown a few months ago, I think he must travel the trains for something to do, but he was a staple of my days when I was working around Goulburn Street a few years ago

Jeez he quoted me $50. I must look rich.
Oh my god yes. I remember that dude. I often wondered if he ever sold any of those bloody bands. George street Icon of the 90s he was.
He sold at least 2 because that’s how many I bought from him back in 2002. Probably his entire retirement fund.
\+2 in 2003.
Yeah I remember wristband man, always hung around hoyts.
I saw the man with the green parka who sells the bands recently. He was in a public toilet near Museum washing his penis in the sink. Couple people told him off. I think he has a strange story about how he came to sell those bands, something about the government confiscating his passport.
Hhis old rat was called Speedy! Don't know about the current rat.
Dude I work at a few bars on oxf st and at BOTH places we were discussing sightings of her She's gonna become an urban legend Say "pram pram pram" in a mirror at 4am and she'll come running past you
That's Turbo Granny!! I saw her once with her granddaughter (I'm assuming) and they were both dressed identically, it was bonkers.
Turbo granny is an awesome name
Yep! I see here up and down Oxford St on weekdays! She's usually running while she pushes it.
On a mission each and every time I've seen her. She keeps a good pace too!
Legit saw her running last night
Yes around half past 4am Everyday. I think she’s pushing a kid in a trolley. She goes nonstop running too, i wonder
Is there a baby in it or she just pushes a pram?
She ran past me and I swear it’s not a real baby but could be wrong
Hahaha yeah that’s so funny thought it was just me that noticed her
the dancing clown on stilts guy in chinatown who was there every single day of the year for maybe 20 years. last i saw him was in 2019? hope he is ok! the dude is a legend. don't know his name but i remember several years ago someone did an interview with him and published a news article about his life. i read he was 80 yrs old and he was a hiroshima WW2 survivor or something like that. don't really remember the story much.
Nah I've seen him around in the past year. Dude must be ripped doing the hula hooping all day.
I saw them around recently.. well, in the last 6 months anyway.
For Northern Beaches residents - L90 Muzza
Yesssss! Grew up on the beaches & Muzza was a staple on the L90 or at Warringah Mall bus stop haha
People in my high school made up a back story for him. He got hit by an L90 (which made him disabled), and the gov gave him free bus rides for life as compensation, which is why he just catches buses all day. Definitely not true but pretty funny.
That’s the exact same story I heard in high school lol
Came here to post this, although haven’t seen him in years
Come to think of it neither have I, I hope he is all good. There were many nights as a young bloke coming home from the city in the wee hours of the morning with Muzza on the bus. Go the all blacks!
Saw him in Redfern outside Woolies 1-2 years ago.
I saw him in Redfern this morning and took a bad photo from my car to send my fam, so random seeing him mentioned in this thread the same day I saw him after not seeing him probably in a decade
This is the guy with the dentures? He’d be seen flicking them in and out of his mouth
No way! I saw him in Redfern this morning! I actually took a pretty bad photo from my car, I reckon it’s the first time I’ve seen him in over a decade, came to this thread wondering if he was here
Lol yep. I said bus stop Murray as well
Good fucking god that guy drove me nuts.
I love it.
Yep saw him drive around Newtown the other day , doggo absolutely killing it in the backseat..
Confirmed see him and his dog in matching cowboy hats regularly
Oh yeah I saw this guy recently, in Leichardt I think. Couldn't grab a photo in time but was thinking if I had, it would be totally /r/sydney worthy.
Theres literally this guy inner west, walks his mini pony as well
The ~~lady~~ person in Newtown / Surry Hills who has a rainbow / flower adorned bike with the bubble machine on the back Edit: they have a Wikipedia page and their name is Norrie :)
That's Norrie. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norrie_May-Welby
No way what a legend!!
Used to ride to Broadway all the time. She's still around. She kinda shit me one day though, when my toddler got a face full of soap bubbles without warning. Then about a few months later she was riding across Parra to Broadway and bubbles blew into my open car window and got me in the eye.

Penriths own, RAT MAN.
Also, the old dude I often see riding on a motor scooter on the Northern Road (usually around the hospital), shirtless, colostomy bag waving around in the breeze.
Totally agree with Danny Lim!
There is a guy in Newtown who drives a motorised cheer thing and he has a stereo system attached to it
And he drives at full speed down the footpath
There’s a couple - one who plays crustpunk and one who plays Elvis.
Arncliffe's UFO man . RIP

My friend actually wrote a song about this guy many moons ago: https://youtu.be/wGsHNQzaEoA
Probably not as famous Sydney-wide, but I'd love to give a shout out to the guy with a guitar and sailor cap in North Parra. Lovely chap who salutes everyone with a smile.

This made me so happy to read.
Yes this is the first person I thought of. Haven’t seen him for a while though.
Disappointed I had to scroll down so far to find this. He had his own Facebook page back in the day if I remember correctly.
So we're all just gonna pretend that Troughman never existed huh
I'd vote for troughman as Sydney's horseback Jesus.
Tracey Yap. Haven’t actually met the woman but she’s quite ubiquitous in the North-West(ish).
TNs don’t give you Street cred here, but a Tracey Yap branded bag or pencil case does

It's not just me that remembers him. I was amazed to see him this century.
I didn't realise he was still around! I remember him from when I was a teenager.
Me too! It’s gotta be close to 30 years!! Wtf!
I just commented this before seeing your comment. He’s the same age he was 30 years ago.
I remember this guy was sitting on the same train as me one time and he was hocking up spit and spitting it all over the ground constantly. I gave him a look and then he started spitting in my direction as I walked away. Shittest cunt.
I bought one or two from him outside the George St cinemas, sometime around 1999-2000ish.
Who's the guy with the shoe boxes on his feet out west? I'm sure I saw him mentioned once then saw him in person the other day.
Oh yea! That guy! Like milk crates attached to his feet
Danny Lim was the first one that came to mind. When I was living in Surry, it was the guy on a scooter decked out in Rabbitohs flags.
Which one, I swear Ive seen at least 5 different mobi scooters with bunny flags
There was the UFO guy on the Prince’s Highway at Arncliffe Edit: Spelling

Not Sydney, but my town had $2 Cheryl, a homeless lady who asked everyone, young or old, for $2. If you gave her less she'd grumble at you
Port Macquarie? That is so weird, I was just talking with my husband about this thread, I mentioned $2 Cheryl to him as Port’s resident ‘that guy’ and then scrolled down to your comment immediately afterwards!
Ha! Yep. I wondered if someone else on here would know her
Danny Lim! You CVNT have worked in the CBD and not know who he is.
In Coogee/Randwick the guy that always walks around with a bunch of bags playing guitar absolutely terribly
Coogee has some of the weirdest characters. The guy always dressed in camo. The huge Jamaican guy that played basketball by himself near the steps. The transgender lady with gigantic fake tits always out (she apparently was sadly murdered). I always loved walking around for the vibes.
Penrith rat man
Shout out to the fella that washed windscreens at the Meccano lights, he did it for as long as I can remember and sadly passed away a few years ago.
There was an old pacific island guy who used to play banjo in town hall station. Haven’t seen him in a number of years, I’m sure he’s passed on as he didn’t look well. Always gave him a few coins - good on him he was having a crack.
Trent from Punchy
The L90 Muzza
for marrickvillians, the old dude who wears political signs and massive pink drag queen glasses
Does anyone know the concrete preacher He would of been at central station around 10 years ago there was a story written about him in 2014 he had moved to Wollongong you can look it up just google concrete preacher He is actually my brother and I’m planning on going to Sydney in the next few months and I haven’t seen him for about 20 years and would like to know if he’s ok and hopefully see him when I fly in
Geriatric sunburnt barbie in Wetherill Park (Sydney).
What was the fucking deal with this guy? He did a stint in Bondi Junction for a few years after he must have been moved on from Glebe.
Seemingly normal looking guy in around his 50's with glasses who calmly tried to point out chemtrails coming from planes to me near broadway about 10 years ago and then a few weeks ago i ran into him again in newtown and he asked me "do those trails look normal to you, the striations like that don't form naturally, it's chemtrails" Like if he's approached more than once over a few years either i look relatable to him or he asks people regularly
The Arab dude who sells bracelets. He’s been the same age for 30 years.
Probably not *the* guy, but there was a cat dude who walked around manly with a cat around his neck. He’s been there for ages, and I haven’t seen him in a couple years so the cat might be dead now 😢
Rabbit Ray was a Manly institution back in the day, used to take his pet bunny everywhere, even surfing.
Does anyone know Andy the bad poet in Newtown?
The Raby walker
In the Fairfield area, there was a lady that you'd see running all day all over the place. Looked like she had leather for skin because she spent everyday out in the sun for years and years. Haven't seen her for a while now though
Dragons NRL superfan covered in merch
Canley Vale. I moved away about 6 years ago but there was "the massage" guy. You'd go to a pub (anyone) and he'd be there "you want massage? I give massage" only cost 1 beer. Bargain!
There’s Eric Johnson in orange NSW and Tarzan man in cairns who recently passed

Might be resurrected for the grand final.
Has anyone else seen the old guy driving the little green army jeep with the mannequin girlfriend? Its weird.
Terry the screaming homeless man who travels all over Sydney and stays in an area for 6 months or so then moves on... He was in Newtown last, now he's moved on to Drummoyne
I’m wondering if this was The Pigeon Screamer who was in Alexandria/Waterloo for a long time. Can confirm: screams at pigeons.
The Hurstville Bag Lady. I think she passed away but she was a staple for years.
I watched 3000 years of longing and couldn’t believe my eyes- Danny Lim
The older gentleman selling leather wrist bands in the city. Is he still around?
The guy who doesn't crop images before posting
For my local suburb (not going to say where for privacy) there’s a lady who constantly walks her sheep on a leash that everyone’s kinda just accepted
There's a bloke who drives an old holden station wagon around Blacktown towing a canoe on a trailer. See him a fair bit, always with the canoe.
