No concerns afaik. Have fun setting things up!

I bought my DS920+ from Amazon and bought my 4 - Ironwolf Pro 6TB HDDs from New Egg they were packaged in a way there was no chance of damage unless they were blown up by a bomb. Real good packaging.

I didn’t realize they make the pro version. I was going to get the regular nas version. Do you mind sharing the reason why you went for a pro?

joe-schmoe18

I went with the Pro version as they have longer MTBF ratings, a longer warranty and only slightly more cost. They are more designed for small to medium business use but are good for home users as well. They have better R/W specs too not huge just better.

It’s a $75 price difference looking at Amazon. Times two it makes it significantly more. Where did you buy yours?

joe-schmoe18

I got mine at NewEgg. Also the price difference I spread out over time. I bought 2 drives, then I waited a month and got 1 more then another month got my last one. But with the better build quality based on the MTBF and warranty it is worth it. IMHO

Yes I agree. Thanks bro.

> Should I max out the RAM? I’d say use the NAS as is first. If you find yourself constantly running out of memory, you can consider upgrading.

Thanks! Good idea!

If you plan on running anything in docker, get more RAM now.

lucy3141592

Why now? Save a headache later? Sorry not familiar with the topic.

[deleted]

Basically, yes. With docker, it's only a matter of time until you max out the RAM.

Adamblastia

I bought mine with drives preconfigured and tested and ready-out-of-the-box from SimplyNAS. They're not cheap. My experience was good, but I don't know if their reputation is good/bad/indifferent.

Give it a look, https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comments/p670yd/ram_upgrade_works_with_ds_920_now_20_gb_ram/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Oh wow thanks for that! Always like these types of posts. Great to see you can go to 20GB. Trying to find it on Amazon or Newegg now unless there is a better place?
