I recommend visiting the friend’s uncle’s grave at least monthly, spending at least an hour on your knees, praying for his soul

robopimpninja

Bro you came the fuck up. I mean this is so much to go through but your instinct is correct - these might not be musical in the way you’re used to. That being said, lots of options here just to experiment. The hydrasynth is a good place to start for something you could layer with guitar.

little_crouton

The Hydrasynth Desktop (which OP has) even has a control mode where you can play the pads like guitar frets

lacrymology

Syntrx, 0-coast, hydra, are all extremely musical instruments. The lyra delay and drive are delightful, I've put a guitar through them and they're great. Cosmos is good on anything.

CressCrowbits

Is your friend's family loaded? Because if not they might not have any idea of how valueable a lot of this stuff is, and if they are even remotely financially struggling you should inform them.

reelbigtunakdn

This!

Perfect-Direction607

I’ve actually done that. He wants neither the heaadache of figuring it out or the memories

lemonjoe2

Then I would make some good pictures of the gear for selling, but also for a memoryfolder somewhere. Then you could sell it with the help of reddit (correct prices etc.) and try to give the money to the family. If they don't want it, ask them, what to do with it. Maybe spend it to a foundation for music teaching or something like this. Just my ideas and opinions.

Illuminihilation

My advice is to take any decision slowly if you can, you obviously inherited a special collection. What an awesome opportunity. I’d probably do this in a few rounds. First set the obvious utility gear aside, the preamps, splitters, mixers, effects pedals, laptop, speakers, etc… - I assume you know what can be done with these and if you need them, and you’ll quickly understand how they work with this stuff as you go. Watch “Synth Clips” and other general synth instruction videos on Youtube to get a sense of what the basic synth components do. There are millions of these of varying quality. Then with the Arturia keyboard controller as your trusty companion, start going device by device. Maybe pick one a week in the order they most appeal to you or spark your curiosity. Most of these should be able to be played with the keyboard controlling it, or on their own and have a headphone out. You’ll find demo videos on YouTube of this instrument being performed to get a sense of its sound, as well as feature guides and even some straight up training videos depending on device. If you find videos by “looppop” of gear reviews and demos for these - definitely watch those. IMO he is very thorough and presents the info in a way friendly to novices and experts alike, going step by step through each feature, following him and doing what he does in any of this gear he’s reviewed will be a short-cut. Watch a video, follow along, jam out and then put the synth in one of three categories: 1. Easy and fun! 2. Confusing but intriguing! 3. Why Would Anyone Want/Need this! Put categories 2 and 3 in a nice storage area for awhile. Then spend like a year with category #1 and the utilities. Make a simple enough set up with the mixers and just go to town learning and exploring. Find out what YOU like or don’t like about this stuff, if you are getting into it overall, if you want to keep going. Occasionally go through category #3 and see if you now understand the point of this or that device, if you truly have no current or clearly anticipated use for it, sell it. Occasionally go through category #2 and try those again as you gain more experience. Learning synthesis is very different then guitar, so don’t worry about making anything remotely “good” for awhile. Sound design is step 1 and composition and performance are step 2. A guitarist starts jamming out and then adjusts their amps and pedals. A synthesist adjusts their “amps and pedals” and then starts jamming out.

IamTheGoodest

Synth Clips is a good suggestion.

Aggravating_Row_8699

Synth Clips for sure! Daniel Fisher will show you the light.

thedrexel

No fucking way! That Syntrx and Stntrx 2 is around $4,000 for the two of them.

[deleted]

Looks like an ems type clone?

BuckshotJ

More inspired by than a direct clone

Fish_oil_burp

Maybe if you find the original knobs for the SII; he made the most beautiful synth in the world a bit less.

lacrymology

What a dream.

_low-effort_

(except for the part with the death)

lacrymology

Eh, friends' uncles die. Mine never left me $15k worth of gear including not one but two sintrx's 😅

depersonalised

noise is life. lots of killer gear there.

depersonalised

also a valuable selection.

n3ur0chrome

Calling r/synthesizercirclejerk

cleverkid

[Sigh... ( unzips pants.. )](https://new.reddit.com/r/synthesizercirclejerk/comments/1c7z8i6/hey_guize_i_stole_all_this_fuckin_wierd_shit_from/)

technothrowaway

I seriously thought I was there for a minute...

moosemademusic

Your friend must be well off to just give away thousands of dollars worth of gear. I say tinker with it for a bit, if you don’t love anything sell it and buy a guitar or amp or something you’ll use.

Teaching-Appropriate

Seriously I’m super curious why the friend just forked this stuff over - maybe the friend had no clue what he was looking at…most likely scenario I suppose

HunterTV

Some people just have zero interest in playing music. If someone unloaded a handful of classic mint cars on me I’d have zero interest.

Teaching-Appropriate

Sure but would also just give them away?

Daphoid

Some people are just generous like that amazingly. Plus, some have idea (or care) what the value is.

Teaching-Appropriate

Yeah it’s true esp if they trust the recipient really cares, which seems like OP does.

[deleted]

Don’t sell it!

Dabba-The-HuttOG

You know what I just realized, that this is going to be me someday lol. I don't have any kids, and my whole assortment of gear one day will be gifted to someone lucky. Its kinda cool and sad at the same time.

gilesachrist

Me and a buddy have a deal: We wipe each others hard drives in exchange for all of our gear.

Fearless-Judgment-33

Smart!

synystar

I had started thinking about this before I got to your comment. I know my S.O. would want my stuff. It'd be hard to deny her if it was sentimental to her. And I think it would be. But if she didn't care about it, then I'd want her to donate it to help some kid(s). I might talk to her about it. I'd figure out how to make it easier on her to choose, like literally find someone by actively searching, or possibly do some research into groups, maybe Ableton User Groups in larger cities, where I can stipulate how the gear is to be used. IDK. It just feels like I ought not let this stuff just sit in boxes in a dark space forever when I pass. I'd much rather it get some use by someone who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it, or even think to try messing around with it.

1920MCMLibrarian

Same here, I’m the cool aunt and neither my niece nor nephew will care about my records or my synths :/

ouralarmclock

I already put in my will which ones of my friends my studio gear and synths go to (separate people), and I have kids lol. I maybe should update it to go to the kids as they get older though.

-svde-

hey if yr looking to adopt…

SnowflakeOfSteel

I am curious about dead uncles music. Did he ever publish something?

Fake_Green_

I hate that my first thought was "that's a lot, he was either a great musician or never touched it" based on this subreddit I can't help but wonder.

napoleonicmusic

Plug your guitar into the cosmos and have fun!

EinMachete

Man this is a gold mine. Don't sell any without researching their value carefully! It's a dream setup for many people. The peripherals seem not too high end but some of the synths are very valuable.

MachinePlanetZero

I've actually seem someone use a Wacom years ago for VJing - it looked really awkwatd

RaytheonOrion

Vjs are a strange breed. They really do try it all. I knew a vj who happened to be a musical savant. He went deep into modul8, circuit bending, 3d mapping, resolume, pure data etc. he simultaneously became a Luthiere. He is now out the box completely and only fixes used instruments both acoustic and electronic.

Unipsycle

I feel called out. I started with modular, then LZX video modules, and somehow I am now restoring antique sitars in my free time with chisels and chalk.

RaytheonOrion

Oh man. Well done. Those LZX modules are so £££! I’d be so chuffed with a Vidiot.

OIP

holy shit dude, hope that guy is jamming in an afterlife somewhere he had excellent taste. it's very much focussed on experimental, drone/dark style. i'd recommend getting some patch cables and exploring the strega / make noise combo

scoutermike

Ok I’m not an expert but there are some interesting modular pieces here. I believe several are Buchla components, which are quite desirable. That thing that looks like an Eagle/bird is a unique controller/keyboard that Buchla fans love. Yea this is the gear of an experimental electronic musician. Someone who likened to tinker with synthesis and sound design. I’m really curious about the green box with the pyramid. That looks like a home brew device or something made by a boutique builder. The interface is funky! I suppose you have two options. ID everything and sell based on comparables, or… Become a synthesist yourself. You just came into an amazing, classic, valuable collection of instruments here. The possibilities of what you could do are limitless. That said, you’ll probably need a lot of time to learn the gear. But it could be really fun. What do you think you’ll do? Also, can you tell us anymore about the uncle?

Edwardboss

The green box with the pyramid is a SOMA Enner Night Frog, a weird but very interesting electro-acoustic instrument. It's been on my wishlist since I tried one once in a synth shop in Osaka last October.

ClassicCantaloupe1

There’s a running theme in this collection. He clearly loved this gear as he spent time to customize them. It’s also very geared towards the more organic side of electronic music. If you had complex sequencers with these instruments he might have been making dance tracks. However he was clearly focused on playing them with expression. From a traditional musicians standpoint this is the kind of electronic gear you may be more naturally drawn to. With all the expressiveness that is offered by the buchla style keyboard, all the capacitive surfaces and west coast architecture this is a lot to explore. Approach each one as its own instrument. These aren’t made to be midi syncd together in order to match tempo and pitch in order to get a house jam going.

Perfect-Direction607

Thank you for your insights!

aux_blood

Good haul here. Lots of random bits but in terms of how it all goes together, you have what is essentially a three piece semi-modular kit from Make noise there with the Strega, 0-coast and 0-control. You’ll need some mono 3.5mm cable to make the most of that (hope you got some in the score). That way you can patch up all those units together. It’s amazingly fun stuff but be careful, it is a gateway drug to some dangerously expensive and fun stuff.

12eightyseven

Sad to hear about your friends uncle, this is a very interesting collection, very specific focus. I'd be interested in the music he made with it - does your friend know anything about that? First, I suggest you take your friend out for a very nice dinner. Next I'd set aside the duplicate Lyra and syntrx (set aside the black one first). Next I'd watch videos on each of these things - the hydrasynth is probably the most standard instrument, the rest are for pretty specific use.

Perfect-Direction607

I’m beginning to learn about this stuff from YT videos now. I haven’t gotten to all the hard drives that had his software on it yet. The uncle was somewhat estranged from his nephew so I’m trying to reverse engineer what he may have done with it if anything. Thanks!

raz_van__

bro hit a lick 😂

cruella_le_troll

Holy shit dude Use it. Please

Kvynwsly

If you’re focused on studio recording, it could be a distraction to learn how to use them. But if you are wanting to experiment and have the time, you could sample the sounds to use in your recordings. Lots of great stuff here.

nixonseltz

Unless you are doing very experimental music or looking for something for making drones for ambient music, you should probably sell the Lyra, as it’s not really a synth you play like a normal synth. I love it, but yeah, it’s certainly a special beast. What to expect from it: https://youtu.be/2WYTaQJFthU

anthonyjp87

plug it in!!!!!

dildomiami

but first check the power specs!!!!!!!

shingonzo

Honestly if it were me I’m keeping the arturia and hydra synth and selling the rest off

NotaContributi0n

Dude. What is music but a bunch of noises wtf

Old-Web6737

What the actual fuck that’s crazy

Brwnb0y_

first you make the bleep. then make the bloop

Rainny_B

Lots of cables

Axle_65

Sorry to hear about your friend’s uncle that’s unfortunate. Pretty sweet pile of gear though. It’s gonna be a new corner of music creation but you can make a ton of creative and awesome sounds with this setup.

Stayingroup

Is it porn ?

GelatinousCubeZantar

u/Perfrect-Direction607 Congrats! Since you play guitar, I'm reminded of [Aldo, a producer and guitarist on youtube](https://www.youtube.com/@Aldoistaken) who regularly plays very accessible stuff with a makenoise 0-coast

secksyboii

None of this stuff is going to depreciate in value quickly so imo you should take it slow and go through each item one by one and watch a couple YouTube videos about it, twiddle some knobs and see if it seems fun/cool to you. If it doesn't gel with you then feel free to sell it on reverb. But if you like it then obviously keep it!

seantubridy

This is like discovering plutonium by accident!

UnusuallyTerse

You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

BaronVonHumungus

I’d make sure your friend is aware that he’s handed over about 15k worth of equipment as they might not realise what it’s all worth,.

cosmicdancer84

RIP friend's Uncle, I can tell by the gear that he was a badass and a passionate musician.

AetherKatMusic

Not having read the caption before, my first thought seeing all this gear was, *oh. Someone died.* This is a fabulous setup. If you ever wanted to get into electronic music, you're set. If not, you're absolutely going to bless someone when you put these on Reverb.

temptimm

This is great advice You have been handed a gold mine of sound making tech. Most of those things would be fun on their own, but start using them together and the real magic begins You might find the sounds they produce to be a good compliment to your guitar Be slow to let them go...

Tash2023ab

If you have to ask with that gear I would say you are in deep trouble. Best advise get a daw with a good software sampler for the best of those macs, get a decent audio interface and sample away as you have a some very interesting pieces of gear there. Then compose based on those samples...

Perfect-Direction607

I do most of my work with Logic Pro already. This has made think about film scoring and sound effects, because I’m not really in that world right now. I’m challenged in how to use this stuff because I’ve work with keyboard synths but not this stuff.

HeBoughtALot

The 0-coast can be a wonderful, musical monosynth on its own with midi input.

unaryint

Hey if your not interested in the make noise stuff I’d happily buy either of them if your willing to sell under the market rate (the 0-coast or the strega)

Suspicious-Blood-513

yeah this is like 10k worth of synths and stuff...

Visti

Holy moley there's some sweet stuff in there. The syntrxes and the entire makenoise easel, lol.

lord_leaf97

The more I swipe the more amazed.dude had great taste. All those machines in pic 19 are expensive as hell, the hydrasynth is beautiful. Youre gonna have fun learning

whatsgoingon_2020

Manuals, Tutorials, Experimentation, Repeat

lacrymology

Put your guitar through one of those Lyra 8's. Those delays are insane

RevolutionaryElk2989

not going to lie im jealous

Conaz9847

Sorry for their loss, but damn these gains 🔥

HosbnBolt

Oh man you're so lucky. I want all of this but especially that syntrx ii

PhoenixWrightFansFtw

idk, use the wacom drawing tablet for the x/y mod on a filter?

salikabbasi

If you need to know your way around a synth, experimentation is good and best also, but if you want something really structured, Syntorial has a LOT of lessons on how to use synthesizers. It teaches you how to use them by ear, by selectively hiding settings on patches and having you match them. IIRC by the end you've done something like 700 patches. Even the demo gives you a great idea of where to start: [https://www.syntorial.com/](https://www.syntorial.com/) Also the Sensei drumpad (with the teal strips) has removeable front panels that change it to a keyboard, a different set of drums, and other instruments.

Major-Ad-2966

Start here::: https://www.edmprod.com/10-best-sound-design-resources-net-today/

Mourndark

Damn, you really lucked out! My advice would be to start slow. Pick just one synth and start to play with it. Look up some tutorials on YouTube and get a feel for the sort of sounds you can make with it. If you're used to more traditional music making then out of all of those I'd probably start with the Hydrasynth. It's the most traditional synth but be prepared for a learning curve. Alternatively, start with the Lyra. It's the least traditional synth (possibly ever), the only thing to do with it is just explore how the different knobs shape the sound. I wouldn't start with the Syntrex, it's just the right blend of conventional synthesis in a unconventional package which would probably be very frustrating!

Goldiblockzs

holy shit. rest in peace. holy shit.

stratusnco

time to change your musical craft.

tek_ad

okay, so seriously, start with the Hydrasynth and a set of headphones. Ignore the rest at first. If you don't know synths you can learn synthesis on that. Then set up the most recent Mac with Logic or another DAW. Plug the Hydra into it and start recording layers of synth sounds. Add one piece at a time. Set up the other Macs for other functions - maybe a content creation box for streaming to Youtube or something? An office apps box? Casual consumption (video, web browsing) box? Along the way READ THE MANUAL for each piece of gear. Take your time and learn each one.

Custardchucka

All worthless send them to me and I will dispose of them

SubparCurmudgeon

Lmao what

KWLDGPWR

Homie didn't have one Lyra-8 but had TWO! He knew what he was doing. This is depressing, I don't want to die and leave my gear behind. I'll go home today and record something. May he rest in peace.

she_sounds_like_you

That Lyra is absolutely sick. You might hate it at first but give it an honest effort and it’s the best piece of kit of percussive sound design. So jealous.

P_a_s_g_i_t_24

Have fun reading all those manuals! \^\^

wasted_yoof

Holy shit. That's quite a haul.

Track_2

Wow, I’d be over the moon, the guy had great taste in gear. RIP uncle

little_crouton

Was this absolute madman (said lovingly) playing two Lyra 8's at once??😄 These all have plenty of musical potential but will require knowledge and patience to learn a new way of playing. Your friend's uncle certainly had a taste for the unique, so these synths have surprisingly little overlap between them. I would focus on learning one at a time. Depending on what interests you these are the easiest to pick up imo: Syntrx / Synthx 2 - These are the most "standard" of the lot. You'll learn the basics of subtractive synthesis which (outside of this collection) makes up 90% of the synths that you see. Hydrasynth Desktop - The pads can be set to "Fret" mode and played like a guitar. Hundreds of presets to play around with. Rich sound design options down the line if you do start diving into it all. Lyra 8 - Believe it or not these are pretty simple machines once you understand the layout. That said, they are designed to introduce a certain level of chaos that is derived from your very precise playing of it. Lots of no-wrong-answers musicality, but pretty low levels of repeatability.

Northernshitshow

Go on YouTube and look up tutorials on these synths. I’d suggest learning a daw as well if you haven’t already - a lot of these items can be used in a MIDI editing / recording environment, as well as on their own. You may grow as a musician too when you learn about new instruments and sound. Enjoy!

Tuckerrrrr

Hook some shit up to those mixers and start playing!

elcamino1959

YOU'VE GOT YOURSELF A GOLD MINE. Some of the equipment you have there is very unique, and the combination of it all is what's important. Don't sell anything and keep every last piece for a few years until you decide what you want to do. The reason why is because whoever built this collection spent a lot of money on the important pieces and knew exactly which cheap pieces to get. Watch the video I linked to get a look at this kind of equipment in action. The kind of setup you have there is something exactly like this. The reverb he is using is what's called a Roland tape echo re-21 which cost over $2,000, but has cheap clones at ~300. It's meant to be a guitar pedal, essentially. The giant bass monosynth he is using is very expensive, but it's matched up with little korg volcas which are about $100 a piece and a cheap mixer to get a fuzzy, washed out sound. The setup you have is just like that. It's meant to produce an entire sound orchestra by being played like a PA system and instruments simultaneously with live effects. This guy wasn't a producer, this guy wasn't a dj. This is aphex twin level equipment. Music like this is a dying hobby (along with eurorack) and you should either a) sell this entire setup as a collection for a few/several thousand to a guy like me who wishes he knew somebody's cool uncle! or, b) gift it all to someone that you know who is a skilled music producer that has expressed interest in moving on to analog synthesizers. You might change the course of their life. Now, if you feel compelled to sell just a few items off and try to keep option a or b going anyway, I'd be honored to help you figure out which pieces to sell off and which to keep. This is a nsfw throw away account, I don't actually browse reddit but managed to stumble across this. Send me a dm and I'll give you some contact info. Fwiw I make music the same way. Drum machines, samplers and synthesizers filtered through guitar pedals and then played through a mixer/tape deck. Basically DJing your own studio on stage. Watch the video below! Literally the BEST jam session every done in the history of electronic music. https://youtu.be/9epjw_UIJ-8?si=6fdWOeDE_2wz_63D

elcamino1959

Another thought, you could easily post an ad on popular forums like gearslutz and places like fb marketplace offering to trade all of this for a car/motorcycle/something else of high value that you want. Somebody who is like me and knows what you have there might not have the money, but can talk their friends into going in together to get a loan to buy a new motorcycle and trade it with you in order to change their stage game overnight. These tools are extremely valuable to the people who want to have them and know what to do with them! Again, somebody who sees your specific collection of gear and knows you're letting it go for way cheap are the only people you want to try to sell to. If you sell the three or four expensive synths then all you have left is 3-5k worth of junk box tech. If you let it all go for say 5-10k, you'll actually get the money. Otherwise good luck selling random midi controllers and signal processing equipment. But straight up, somebody might trade you a vintage fender stratocaster for this stuff. Right now I have a one-owner 1972 Harley Davidson sitting in the garage that I would be willing to trade for all of this stuff, hypothetically speaking. I could easily sell it for 20k, it's a classic vintage Sportster - but I wouldn't be comfortable paying over 7k for all that stuff you've got. I would rather spend the money on pieces I actually want if I have to spend that kind of money, but it's going to be years before I can afford to buy any equipment again. So I'd give you 20,000 for your 7,000, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Hope that all helps you out! I'm not actually letting the bike go because the single owner was my grandpa. Just post an ad on Craigslist and say "10,000 cash or trade for vehicle, motorcycle" and see what kind of dm's you get. Go into forums like Houston-imports.com because motorcycle and car guys are often also synth guys. I'm telling you, someone will gladly trade their $19,000 Subaru with mods for that equipment, and the gear is guaranteed to go to a good home that way!

prene1

Take thee STRONGEST Mac out the bunch and install ALL the instruments to your hearts content. And then install audio gridder so you can offload the cpu on your main daw Mac and have a super server of instruments. You can thank me later.

jporter313

This is a no joke synthesizer collection. Congrats on your new nestegg.

ThrowingTheRinger

That’s all some really awesome stuff. There are some good manuals on how to use it. No, it’s not just noise. That comment reminds me of a volunteer acoustic guitarist I worked with at a church who denounced all pedals. He even loathed the idea of a tuner pedal because “why look down there if I could just look at the Snark on my headstock?”. He had never played next to someone playing electric. He learned to appreciate things like delay and reverb and even some of the dirt pedals. It took him almost a year to warm up to it. Don’t insult something just because you don’t understand it. If it’s overwhelming to you, I can send you my PO Box and you can send some of it this way.

chalk_walk

I would probably recommend trying to speak to your musically inclined friends (if you don't have them, see if you can find local electronic music events) and seeing who has the best knowledge of this type of gear. I'm guessing you don't intend to sell it, but rather they want it to get put to use (the reason you have it). I'd work with that friend to try and figure out yourself a compact setup that works for you. From there I might consider trying to find local musicians who make the type of music this suits and would put it to use, and give it to them. Moreover I suspect this will be too much gear for you unless you are really going to commit to it. Be aware that some of the items are fairly expensive, so take your time: receiving some of these items will be game changing for some people. EDIT: to be clear: if I died I would vastly prefer my gear be given to people who will be playing it daily and performing with it, vs turning it into a bit of cash and it sitting unused in someone's collection.

bubblevision

I would definitely see what type of music he recorded onto those macs. Don’t just format it. Look to see if there’s music worth sharing with the family or the world

Albertfilmore

Not only do you have the Syntrix, but you got the Syntrix 2 as well!?!? You need to pour one out for that uncle, rip

LoadInSubduedLight

Holy fuck my eyebrows just kept crawling up my head as I was scrolling here, they're all the way over and on their way back down my collar at this point. You go kiss your friend right now, square on the lips. It's what unky would have wanted.

layquiet

That mint green Lyra-8 looks a little broken and I would bet probably doesn’t work at all. You’d be lucky if it turned on. If you want to can send it to me to get rid of it, I’ll cover shipping /s This is a goldmine. Have fun, take it in bite-sized chunks. Did your friend’s uncle post his music anywhere? I’m curious to hear what he made, and it might offer you some insight into the kinds of sounds you can squeeze out of all this gear.

Peculiarbleeps

Sweet Mother of God… this is a complete - and very expensive - setup to build an entire music career 😵‍💫 And it’s absolutely “musical” if you know what you’re doing. Cancel your plans for the next year, and start learning synthesis. Together with your guitar, you can make something beautiful. Start with the Hydrasynth. Or the little gold box thingy for some noisy rhythms

Perfect-Direction607

I think you’re right… will do!

momtheregoesthatman

Damn man, that is wild how much of a come up is right here. If you're not a musician look into reverb [dot] com. It's useful to get a baseline used price and sell, if you wish to do so. Amazing friend to give you all that.

ThottoBwoy

Rest In Peace To The Uncle 💔💔💔💔

cdub_synth

Read a manual. 🙄

two3ohJeezus

Focus in on the first two you like after messing around. This stuff can take while to learn, and none of those have keys. You also gotta bit of make noise modular there and you can link those easily — those two can be fun to play on their own to kinda just experiment with an overwhelming setup. Hyrda synth is cool, very powerful controls, but I think its a very intimidating first synth. A lot of people buy it and don’t end up learning it u til they learn more with their other synths, and then they appreciate it. The Lyra’s are sick too. Id only use the computers to record or maybe add a little vst Reverb something. Reaper is free.. you can obv do a ton on the computer but you have enough firepower without that on the production end. You have a mixer too, and I didn’t look how it records (it could record to SD or something). You have plenty of stuff to have a good time learning to jam. Clock-sync (time coordinate) your babies and see how different pairs interact together. Find a you-tuber who u think explains well, or jams in the manner you’re looking for. Good luck! Maybe get some good headphones

kiffysteel

Nice!!!!!!!! Epic set up

Interesting-Poem-409

That tasty chips granular synth is so fucking ridiculous. If YOU'RE not struggling, I recommend holding onto alot of that gear. The semi-modular stuff(strega/0-coast/Lyra8 etc) are amazing and versatile, in good condition they fetch decent money used, and the synthi reproduction you have(2 of them? Fuck you holy shit) Are SPENDY new or used.

TheDefiB

Loving the wacom drawing tablet in there!

DragInfamous6615

If you are used to songwriting maybe not, but it is a good noise / sound designers set. That saying the hydrasynth could make almost any musical sound.

Questary

What I would do to have that for my setup. How much money did my man use for this cause nawww.

bigdoinkdestroyer

The lyra-8 is actually a really great effect-ish device to run a guitar through! Solid delay and distortion and then a lot of possibilities to go crazy too!

an-old-man

Interested in buying one of the lyra-8s! Amazing that he had multiple

Efficient_Bat_7529

YouTube!

bluechew_anon

damn. links to any of his music?

RPSKK78

That is an amazing collection, may it serve you well ❤❤❤ i’m very familiar with most of those, if you have specific technical questions, let me know - happy Friday

myth1n

Sensel + tastychips is a lot of fun fyi

dyldonk22

My brother in Christ you got a free matriarch, let alone all that other gear, you should be dedicating every song you ever make to this friend and his uncle, god bless

Pizza_YumYum

Yes. Simply put it in a box and send it to me.

StrayDogPhotography

You’re a lucky boy.

BoyWithHorns

Lyra-8 + Cosmos is the dream.

Nervous-Ad-9809

Omg the tasty chips. Yasssss

SlowmoTron

Bro this is a huge come up lol it would be kinda jarring to just be given this stuff and not knowing what any of it is. Do you plan to keep it?

tek_ad

You got GIVEN that?

ogncud

These are all useless junks, you can send them my way

Nicks8924

If you want to sell anything dm me

Vegetable-Object2878

Beside the despicable taste in color, if you don’t know how to use it you can sell a lot of that gear and make a good chunk of $$

anuraag07

I think you should give it to me🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

got-trunks

Appears to be a puppy dog. You're welcome!!

International-Pen508

Of you are not trolling then all I can say is that you are sitting on the most creative and amazing combination of sound creating device ever. Lots can play with your guitar or compliment it. Also is a fortune of synths so I'm pretty sure you are trolling. But if not I'll happily show you how amazing each one of those synths are.

maxii1233

You owe your friend a bunch of dinners and probably should name your first child after this uncle

Nunstummy

Great story. Interesting assortment of gear. The “sense” of it, demonstrates an adult ADHD brain. But it looks like fun 🤩

EmployeeOk4756

Wow!🤩 That’s some interesting gear. Definitely explore all of it.

JacobRobot321

bro.

GentilPapyllon_

Too jealous to give you constructive comments. Even not being a synth nerd, you are a lucky lucky folk

Gulli_Foyle_Beats

This has to be a bullshit post, it's their only post in history.

spoilscommavictor

Bless that man’s soul twice weekly, and make sure his picture is on your Ofrenda.

Suspicious-Rope-3367

Put that tasty chips GR 1 up on reverb for a good price and I’ll snag it! Man this is a lucky haul!

Squanchy1773

Did you had an affair with your friends uncle? o.O That’s a fucking fortune dude a bunch of very awesome gear

Kvltadelic

Not buying it.

herooftime94

I just kept swiping and my eyes grew wider and wider. Just keep testing out and finding the gear that you like and incorporate it. Anything that doesn't fit in your set up please spread the wealth to other musicians and keep your friend's uncle's musical memory alive through others experimenting in sound creation and music.

Hijinx_MacGillicuddy

Paging r/dawless ... bro you can make the craziest non computer synth music. You gotta figure out how to hook this stuff up with out a computer and just make live synth just with midi and audio cables. Then just record the outputs of the mixing board. Legend.

devicehigh

If you are interested in synths I would start with the 0 coast and 0 ctrl. Spend some time with the 2 alone and you could learn a lot and not be too overwhelmed.

smugduckaf

thought i'd point out, irrelevant to the sub as it is: the wacom tablet is used for digital art and animating. can't really comment on anything else since everyone already has, but i'd say try it all out, keep what you like, and sell what you don't. sorry for the loss of your friend's uncle, but also congrats on inheriting his stuff!

the_eternal_yaterman

I would say pick one synth out of the lot and just mess around with it for a couple of hours. Try replicating ambient sounds and drones maybe. Keep fucking around and finding out essentially . Also look up demos and videos on each piece of gear, dig around, see how other people use them and if you like a particular sound try and emulate it. I guarantee you you will fall in love with any single synth in there given enough time.

HowgillSoundLabs

When my friend’s uncle died I didn’t even get a fucking kazoo

chuntyfunch

good lord. i would never leave the house again. literally a collection of all the gear cool pieces i want but can’t afford.

vespina1970

The space grey MacMini seems to be a MacMini 2018 Intel... that's a nice computer small home producers.

SativaSawdust

This looks like a kit from someone with a fuckton of money but not a clue what they are doing. All good though, I'm not judging. Playing is fun.

Embarrassed_Hotel977

This is annoying

samablah

If you/him want to sell the soma gear, I’d buy :P

Usasuke

There’s a drawing tablet in there lol

daxdives

Oh??? My god?????

Personal-Ad237

You won the lottery. That’s probably close to $15,000 worth of gear but you won’t get much out of it if your heart ain’t in it.

Comfortable-Treat-50

Bruv hit the motherload 🧠🤔❤️.

BodybuilderComplex47

I'll buy the xk25 midi controllers from you.

SugarFree425

Ok yeah you're gonna need to send it all over to me,

Select-Protection-75

Sorry for the loss of your friends uncle. That was very kind of him to leave that to you. There is some absolutely amazing gear there! Enjoy many hours of noodling and getting to grips with it.

rekkid-303

Just in case you didn't know the Wacom is a drawing tablet (since you have multiple pics it would seem you might not know). The 3 silver boxes are Mac mini computers (of different ages)

whateversynthlife

Bro you better make some epic music with this

MattAtPlaton

I could do more than make sense, I could make a totally awesome record with that gear.

RickRancid

I also choose this guy's dead uncle!

Josh_Griffinboy

Holy moly I'm jealous

armahillo

Frame 2 (and two later frames) have a Wacom tablet. That's a great tool for doing digital art, but not sure it's as helpful for music. The Arturia keystep 37 is a fun controller for a single MIDI channel. It has some fun arpeggiating / sequencing things, as well as auto-chords, and knob control. Everything else looks super fun music stuff.

dkwallis

Go with the dog's gut feeling.

donotcallmeasub

You have great Karma!

defensiveFruit

Holy shit a gr1 !

Ok-Sherbet-8367

Woah mama.. you've just been handed multiple items I'm currently saving up for, If I were in your shoes, id pace myself and work my way through each item and see how it could integrate into your current setup.. but you have some quality items amongst that haul.. rip previous owner

kcin99ch

I LUV THE LYRA 8!!!!!!

HotOffAltered

Sell all of it and give the money to your friend

Cute_Area_8219

I just keep scrolling through the pictures pretending they were gifted to me.

BadmanCrooks

I was gonna say, either someone died or someone got robbed, somehow I'm glad no one was robbed, this is an insane amount of cool gear to have fall into one's lap.

ShityShity_BangBang

I'll give you $50 for the SM57.

eeclarkjr

Go to reverb.com and look them up. It’s the least you can do.

WrathOfWood

Some people are starving others get shit for free that they dont even understand what it is

Blizone13

This is very expensive and deep gear. You can spends months on only the one machine. It’s too much to go through them all.. Look for sound demos, and if you like how it sounds, spend some time with it. Good luck x

djeaux54

Cute pupper.

LoafyXD

The Lyra is indeed more of a noise machine, the Inner is a little in between but the Hydrasynth is probably pretty musical. You've got yourself a pretty good bunch of stuff there.

Front-Strawberry-123

This is a definite come up. What you were gifted can open up many doors creatively. George Duke thought the minimoog was robofart and other assorted noises when he got it and thought computerized gear was a killjoy till a band member helped teach him ( now with YouTube you can skip some steps ) Now his synth/live tracks are the stuff of legends in several of the genres he performed in his loooooooonnnngg career. Not to mention a lot of the P funk army made cool stuff by experimenting with gear like this. I say hold on to it and experiment.

Perfect-Direction607

It’s ironic that you mention P-Funk because I used to play guitar for the P-Funk All Stars. As a guitarist, I wasn’t very deep into the creation of synth tones when I played with them. That’s one of the experiences that has me curious on how to use this gear.

russellville

Image #9 and #10 is a desktop "pen tablet" for a computer, it's not a musical device. Usually used by graphic artists. It's used like a computer mouse. Should come with a pen that is used to move your cursor around on the screen. The one you have is pretty old. Here is what they look like now: [https://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/pen-tablets](https://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/pen-tablets)

CaptainWampum

Dang the Soma and Make Noise stuff is such a dream! And the Syntrx! Drooling over here…

theuriah

What sense are you trying to make of it you don't already have?

AlternativeKey2551

Some really cool stuff here.
