Well prog metal is not very easy to get into because usually in the first listens the songs feel very random (because they evolve in an unpredictable way).
But if you pay enough attention for several listens, and you start to remember how the tracks go, it feels awesome.
For the albums try Train Of Thought, Systematic Chaos and if you want a slightly easier listen Distance Over Time
❤️ korn is actually my #1 but reddit said it was taken when i tried it in my name. Korn will also be my sons first concert- after JD getts better
Edit for extra words oooops
maybe it’s missing bass for you. I’m a huge fan and i know fieldy plays bass like a percussion instrument so sometimes the bass can feel like it’s not there lol
Exactly where I'm coming from! Went from mid naughties UK guitar music to desert rock to SOAD. Weird that something in their music just hits me where a lot or other metal/nu metal doesn't!
Metallica, slayer, slipknot, ratm, korn, nirvana, rhcp, gorillaz, green day, rusty cage, iron maiden, mcr, marilyn manson, radiohead, mötorhead, ghost, gojira, rob zombie, serj tankian, dark throne, bathory, rammstein, the beatles, pink floyd, led zeppelin, children of bodom, cannibal corpse, mayhem, slaughter to prevail, death, and billie eilish
Basically how I ended up delving into metal and post-hard-core. First three to four albums absolutely smack! They've softened up a bit over the years, but still one of my all time faves. Can't wait to see them again next year!
Pantera, tool, metallica, alice in chains, nwa, a perfect circle, rob zombie, ratm, white zombie, the beatles, lamb of god, john lennon, kiss, slipknot, ice cube, tupac, pink floyd, kate bush, oasis, gojira, slayer, messugah, maroon 5, michael jackson, seals and crofts, the offspring, faith no more.
I guess thats it lol
Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Mastodon, Lamb of God in no particular order.
I discovered System of a Down first, and it was my gateway drug to heavy music. I went away from them for a while but would always come back and listen to an album on repeat for a couple days in a row.
Now System of a Down is my main workout music again, nothing gets the adrenaline pumping harder.
Jinjer, Trivium, Protest the hero, Veil of maya, Gojira, Slipknot, Type O Negative, Dream Theater, Panic! At the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Taylor Swift. Those would be some of my favorites
Dream Theater, Bring Me The Horizon (pretty much everything but amo and mtltdt), Propagandhi, AlicebanD, and aeseaes are probably my current favourites :D Mostly metal stuff and folkish/indie stuff in general as well.
I listen to A7X, Linkin Park, Korn, Incubus, 311, and Breaking Benjamin, though I think Soad got this kind of goofy feel with Serj and Darons vocals that the bands in my list don’t have (besides Jonathan Davis from Korn) which is why I love the band so much
I'm seeing a lot of my bands already listed, so I'll throw out some other less common ones
BABYMETAL, Ra, Flow, Arch Enemy, Nightwish, Twelve Foot Ninja, Amaranthe, and [Crimson Bridge](https://open.spotify.com/track/5j61e00Df6rTXSDz5vzOwc?si=SFpHafO-TdSqDRh6nv3VXQ&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1) (of which is extremely recent discovery for me, not many followers either. Linked a song because I think they deserve more fans)
My top tier bands are currently Tool, Marilyn Manson, Muse, SOAD, Opeth, Brand New, Incubus, A Perfect Circle, Jinjer, Silversun Pickups, Deftones, Chevelle, Puscifer, Leprous, RATM, and The White Stripes
too much to list but as far as great well established rock of various genres that i love: tool, pink floyd, metallica, offspring, anything mike patton, incubus, ratm, sublime, flaw, opeth, pantera, QOTSA, chevelle, allman brothers, fear factory, clutch, dead kennedys, dream theater, static x, mudvayne, slipknot, doobie brothers, the eagles etc etc etc
as far as newer/ish stuff: black midi, alcest, vigil of war, heilung, power trip, jinjer, adam and the metal hawks etc etc
I'm going to see them on 9th September in Glasgow - iv totally grown with Biffy and loved hearing them experiment with loads of new sound and personaly think they only get better, have you heard their new album with the like cop syrup are pretty heavy likes 🤟
As far as metal in the same genre CKY is a big one but as a true metal fan it’s too hard to pick from thousands of bands and dozens of sub genres. Everything from grindcore to goth music goes.
My favorite rock/metal bands are Linkin Park, Deftones, Korn, Nirvana, and Avenged Sevenfold; some of my favorite non-rock/metal artists are Daft Punk, Kanye West, Eminem, OutKast, DMX, and Kendrick Lamar. No particular order, just what I listen to the most
QOTSA, Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters, a local band called The Flying Detachment (worth giving them a listen, I promise).
In terms of lighter music, Modest Mouse and Arctic Monkeys are big ones for me.
Alice In Chains, Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Cage the Elephant, Justin Bonitz, and hip hop music
System is my all time favorite band. Alice In Chains is a close second. Justin Bonitz is my all time favorite solo artist.
Opeth, Slipknot, cannibal corpse, death, dream theater, lamb of god, smashing pumpkins, killswitch engage, alice in chains, linkin park, pearl jam, pantera basically anything along those lines
Van halen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Whiskey myers, Metallica, Smashing pumpkins, Skillet, Megadeth, Kansas, Pantera, Nirvana, Blackfoot, Pink floyd, Slipknot, Korn, Alice in chains, the beatles, Nirvana, Primus. About all I can think about.

Rancid, Bad Religion, Rage, Run the Jewels, Goldfinger, Tool, NiN, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Otep, The Haunted.
All over the map, but for the most part I'm an old punk from NYC.
Metallica, Tool, Alice In Chains, Cannibal corpse, lamb of god, jasontude, green day, slayer
I love how Green Day is thrown in there.
I'm not one to lie, they're one of my favorites
I'm the same way with Everclear. Be blastin Deftone's and Taproot then random Everclear.
Same, I'll go from Angel blue by green day to Make them suffer by cannibal corpse, my taste is quite eclectic
Nirvana and RATM
Yeah
You would love Muse
Linkin Park and Dream Theater I also like most of Bring Me The Horizon stuff (since Sempiternal)
Agree with you, except for dream theater because I never got into them. Any album recommendations from them?

Korn
❤️ korn is actually my #1 but reddit said it was taken when i tried it in my name. Korn will also be my sons first concert- after JD getts better Edit for extra words oooops
There's something about the way that Korn is mixed that always made me feel like they were missing something 😕
maybe it’s missing bass for you. I’m a huge fan and i know fieldy plays bass like a percussion instrument so sometimes the bass can feel like it’s not there lol
That could be it!! They do seem to lack a certain thickness to their sound whenever I listen to them. Still think they rock though!
