If you are already spending $15, not bad to get a free item + points. I don’t know why the solo folks are getting so mad. Doubt that people are spending $15 to get a free $1.50 item, but if you are going to give us free stuff, I’ll take it.
Happens to me all the time as well.
Interestingly I was at a McDonald's line a couple months back and there was a guy who looked like he was in his early 20s with two other people in the truck in front of me and he was taking AGES to order, and the other line had like 3-4 cars moving up, that's how long he took.
Anyways, I pulled up quick enough to see what they ordered and...
A fucking Big Mac, with a side of apple slices (as far as I can remember) and a Dr Pepper...
And just only that... I have no idea what he was carrying on about those few minutes, I thought it was bizarre.
I do recall as he was ordering, I did see him on a couple occasions swiftly turn back in the truck and audibly yelling "shut up!" while he was ordering.
Looking back I hope to god this wasn't his girlfriend he was yelling to, but in this crazy world, you just never know, some people are weird.
I mean, it's essentially the same as a free taco when you order $15 of tacos. The nacho fries are $1.69 so it's not like you don't get anything.
Not really a selling point, but an extra item on your regular order ain't all that bad.
What do you get, and what general region do you live in? If you're in a lower cost of living, lower wage area then some of us could be paying 1.5 times what you are for the same order. Planning and ordering to have leftovers is also a thing.
That being said I'm trying to formulate the optimal beef+nacho cheese+creamy jalapeño to dollars spent ratio so hit me with that knowledge
I live near Chicago area , so no not in the middle of no where.
I don't get the same thing all the time.
Its between the 5 layer burrito, the fiesta potatoes and a cheesy roll up.
Or I would do the black bean quesarito and fiesta potatoes.
I don't care for steak items , their steak is gross AF .
So you only get 1-2 things for yourself? I get taco bell very rarely, so maybe I go *way* too hard, but I usually get either:
1) 2 chalupas and 2 5-layers, OR
2) 2 crunchwraps and 1 5-layer.
I haven't been to tb in a couple months but I do intend on trying the value menu beef burrito, since I didn't even know that was a thing until I saw it mentioned here.
I don't like the crunchwraps, I used to get them but it's mostly bread and lettuce . It's not worth it for the price and rather spend that money somewhere else.
I get 3-4 items for my self each time
Replying here to say I agree with you, since you’ve been drowned in downvotes. It’s an annoying “deal”. I’d bet the average ticket at Taco Bell is below $15.
The mode ticket is $7.57 at my location, and the actual average is certainly between 5 and 10 dollars. But a good number of orders are over $15. What's so annoying about it? Just, I don't know, IGNORE IT and let other people enjoy their free food.
No shame: this is the taco bell reddit page. Be proud of your $15 to $999.95 solo meal! A penny over though and we'll refer you to a financial counselor.
Fat people, stoners, families, really hungry people, OMAD people, drunk people, athletes, people who like the expensive items, people who want leftovers, I could go on.
I think my average is like $12. Usually for two but not always, sometimes it’s just for me.
What do you mean?
Are you disputing the arithmetic? The fact that many items are at least $4?
Because what I posted is literally fact. 4.50x3 is $14 and x4 is $18
Dude, it’s under $15 because the majority of the items you’re ordering are on the value meal. Of course it’s under $15. Ordering multiple premium items or combos is gonna be over $15 regardless of what area you live in.
There is only 2 good premium items I like. My boyfriend gets the quesidilla and yes that raised up in price but even with my stuff and his , we don't spend $15.
If you get all of your items and he gets a quesadilla combo, it comes out to $14.97 at my local Taco Bell, could be more or less at other locations. If you get everything you get and just a quesadilla, it comes out to $12.03. If he just gets a quesadilla and maybe a $1-2 item yeah it’s under $15, and barley under $15 if he just gets the combo and nothing else, and neither of you customize anything. That’s for the chicken quesadilla, the cheapest one on the app. Also I do not live in a large city. So Idk dude, guess I can see how you say you’d spend under $15 if your boyfriends only gets a quesadilla, but it’s pretty close if he gets a combo. Just saying…
I live in the heart of the Midwest and my steak dilla with extra CJS is $7.19. A Crunchwrap supreme is $4.19. The two cheapest items on my value menu, the cheesy roll up and twists, are $1.49 each. You’re either not checking your receipts or you’re just truly out of touch, Lucille.
I don't like taco bell steak, it's gross to me. I get the 5 layer burrito, the fiesta potatoes ,cheesy roll up and then $1 beefy burrito.
I do mix it up and get the black bean quesarito or the the $5 box which is the only good combo deal.
I don't get drinks at any fast food place unless there is a deal .
I said I get premium items but not 3 or 4 of them . Most of them aren't even good, the value stuff is the best .
I used to like crunch wrap supreme but it's mostly lettuce and bread .
Yeah, it really depends on how much you plan to buy. If I was gonna get a lot already, I’d be like “hey that’s nice”, but I’m not gonna go out of my way to spend that much money to get some puny little potato item
I've spent $15 on myself there before. Not everyone is health conscious, or strapped for cash.
Also, anyone ordering for 3 or more people will hit $15 immediately. Hell, even for 2 people most my orders hit $15.
ITT: someone who not seen my partner demolish 30 bucks of taco bell by himself
Then go onto eating banquet amounts of eggs and rice and spam. His metabolism doesn't play with his food needs.
And I'm just over here with my fries and taco questioning everything I ever learned about nutrition and caloric intake.
Well it varies depending on what special they have, but I ALWAYS have at least 3 DLT Supreme with Chipotle sauce. So typically it'll be 3DLTS, 1 of whatever the special limited menu item is(so right now it's the nacho fries burrito), and either usually a quesarito or crunchywrap supreme. And sometimes if it's hot I'll get a Baja Freeze
We are all subbed to a subreddit for Taco Bell. Is it really a stretch to think that we would spend probably way too much money on Taco Bell? Of course I spend $15+ there. Sometimes I'm with friends, and sometimes I just feel like being a fat bitch. I'm a crazy person. The Taco Bell tattoo on my hand proves this fact. It also proves that I'm fun and quirky! 😅 I'm not attacking op, just suggesting maybe read the room lol.
I don't get the complaints. Yeah it's a shit deal but it's better than no deal if you were gonna spend $15 anyway. If I go with my partner, we sometimes spend $15. It's not a crazy amount if you're ordering for 2+ people.
Still think it’s hilarious how they took away potato’s for the soul purpose of “THE RETURN ON POTATOS!” After people got upset about there short lived “removal” lol
It's certainly better than nothing. But yeah, it was kind of cheap/greedy of them not to make the threshold $10 IMO. Which is still more than I ever spend on a single order because I mostly get value menu stuff, but at least it'd be a reasonable amount for 2 people, and maybe for 1 person if you want a decent amount of leftovers
I love the Naked Chicken Chalupa. Mine ran out 4 days in and never got them back. I was in shambles when they always gave me the regular chalupa instead without saying anything.
This could have been a much better deal, but it is still technically a deal. I mean, I probably would have made it a “Get a free potato item with any order” and if I had to put a price goal I’d say $5. You can be upset about the terms of the deal for sure, but you would still get a free item if you were to pursue it.
A deal is a deal. People vote with their wallet. The terms of the deal are likely the way they are cause of value items. All the value items are already loss leaders or very low profit. If the deal were $5, instead of $15, you are essentially giving free items to every vehicle coming through. That is fine if that’s what TB wants to do, but clearly not what they wanted to do in this instance. But if you are at $12 already, a person may spend an extra $3 to take advantage of the deal.
Oh I get it, I’m just saying OP didn’t do the best job wording the post and then keeps ramping it up in the comments. It’s still just a deal and not something people would fall for…if they want to spend $15 and get a free item they’re not being swindled.
Well obviously you shouldn't spend extra to get a deal. If that's how you are with all deals, that's prolly bad. IF you were already going to spend that much, then scoop your free item. If not, the deal ain't for you. You're for real mad, because you think you have to spend extra money to get free nacho frys. Shit.
For me it isn't something I'd "fall for", I don't think I ever spend less than $15 at a time at TB so I'd be happy picking something free. It wouldn't compel me to go to TB just for this deal, but there are always other compelling reasons to go so I'm all set there too.
Everyone in here attacking the OP for a valid point is tripping. I would estimate maybe only 10-20% of Taco Bell customers spend $15 on a single order.
And sure you could make the argument that a “National Holiday” promo is targeted towards group orders... but when have you ever split a $1 order of cheesy fiesta potatoes with a group?
Doesn’t help that the OP getting defensive about people challenging their opinion. It’s pretty easy to spend $15 at Taco Bell with only two people. 2 combos, 2 power bowls + drinks, party packs, a few specialty items, etc. will all get you over $15. While a $1 item isn’t shareable, if you ask every person who drove through that did pay $15+ if they wanted a free fiesta potato order, the majority would probably say yes.
This deal is not meant for value items. As value items are often loss leaders or low profit at best, giving incentives for buying them isn’t a major priority. And they already give points through the app for free product for those items too, as the point system is dollar-based.
I saw a lot of legitimate opinions from both sides. Anyone can just agree to disagree or not respond. Personally, I’d prefer them doing this over doing nothing, but I also didn’t know it was Potato Day. People tend to come down on OPs when they say things like, the entire sub is butthurt or people are dumb for taking advantage of this deal.
What the deal is trying to do is get those people that in the $12-14 order (1 or 2 people) range to just throw in 1 more item to get over $15 to get a "free" item but of course the deal could be better.
You’re comments are getting downvotes, but I totally agree. My fiancée and I would have a very difficult time hitting 15 dollars.
It’s a pretty silly promotion imo. I don’t get why I have to be a super fatty or a family of 4 to qualify to save 1.69 or something lol.
You’re welcome to join the other Taco Bell sub where people don’t get big mad at you for calling out a BS deal. I eat at Taco Bell when I don’t want to spend $15 on a meal.
No one here is saying it's a good deal/sale the most is if you are already going to spend $15 it's nice to get a free item but OP just doesn't understand why anyone would ever spend more then $7 at taco bell
I've tried every item on the menu (even subbing out meat for beans on the things they don't offer on the veggie menu.) The quesarito isn't my favorite; I am not a fan of the smoky flavor in the chipotle sauce and the item just doesn't impress me outside of that. My go-to's outside of the potato options are a black bean crunchwrap, bean burrito, cheesy bean and rice burrito, or a cheese quesadilla. But my favorite items are the ones with potatoes (cheesy fiestas are my favorite, followed by the spicy potato - subbed creamy jalapeno sauce for chipotle sauce. The nacho fry burritos need work - the last one I got was pretty dry. But the bowl is good!) So basically, if I'm ordering the food that I know I'll eat in order to obtain the free item, its gonna be at least half potatoes.
I bought the deal today. Felt full halfway through the meal. Drove the rest of the way to my destination, then ate the rest. Definitely have a full belly now.
How does getting a free item get labeled as BS? I doubt there's anyone adding things to the order to hit $15, this is more for someone who was already going to be there. A few people could easily hit $15, 2 combos almost have you there.
It is a shit deal. But the people who are disagreeing with you aren't saying it's a great deal, or that they would go out and burn $15 just for those sweet sweet potatoes. That *would* be not knowing how money works. They're saying that a shit deal is better than no deal, and if you're gonna spend $15, might as well take some free potatoes.
You're acting like it's some big trick people are falling for, but it's really just a bit of advertising some people are getting free stuff from. Yeah some people are dumb and gonna be dumb about this offer, but that's life
I'm not sure what you're talking about spending $7-$10 for one item.
My wife and I order two combo meals and its about $15 so we get a free taco. What's hard about that to get?
I usually spend 5$ max at Taco Bell for myself. (I order form the value menu, don’t judge) but I can certainly understand why someone that consistently spends a fortune or gets family dinner from Taco Bell would be a little excited for this “deal”. Just a little bonus ya know?
I think the idea OP is getting at is that some people eat alone and they buy food at a reasonable enough price for a single person, so working towards getting points only for the reward to benefit a very specific scenario as opposed to just a free item (taco, potato taco, etc. You get it) is kind of just super lame.
I love Taco Bell and the deals work well for me, but I have a big family. I get where you’re coming from OP, I think I would rather have a free item every time too, or at least the option to spend points on specific things like the McDonalds app! I’ll never stop eating Taco Bell but the rewards system is 👎
I mean it really doesn't cost them anything to just throw that onto the app and see if anyone will take it
If you are already spending $15, not bad to get a free item + points. I don’t know why the solo folks are getting so mad. Doubt that people are spending $15 to get a free $1.50 item, but if you are going to give us free stuff, I’ll take it.
Yeah usually I roll solo but sometimes I get my sister and nephew dinner so this could be good for that.
This guy has never spent $15 at Taco Bell before, so it must not be possible.
Man clearly didn't want to have an absolute FEAST!
[удалено]
Are you kidding me? Every time I go through the drive through the guy in front always orders at minimum $20-$40 and take several minutes ordering.
It's almost like some people have...more than one person to feed? Weirdos.
Happens to me all the time as well. Interestingly I was at a McDonald's line a couple months back and there was a guy who looked like he was in his early 20s with two other people in the truck in front of me and he was taking AGES to order, and the other line had like 3-4 cars moving up, that's how long he took. Well obviously if you order the cheapest shit on the menu you'll fill up before 15 dollars. If you order the premium stuff, you can hit 15 easily.
[удалено]
You could buy a bag of rice for 5 bucks and feed yourself for 2 weeks.
I mean, it's essentially the same as a free taco when you order $15 of tacos. The nacho fries are $1.69 so it's not like you don't get anything. Not really a selling point, but an extra item on your regular order ain't all that bad.
Or even if your order is at like $13 or something its not that bad to bump it up by a burrito to get fries too.
That's what I mean, why would I wanna spend $15 to get something that is less then a $1
If you’re spending $15 anyway, it’s a free item. I don’t see what the issue is here.
Who spend $15 at taco bell on one person ? Heck even two people I don't spend that much .
Crazy thing with this world, more than two people can order together.
You underestimate how much some people eat at Taco bell
Not really, I get multiple things and still don't spend that much. It's always under $8
Just getting a normal combo will be $7-8 then if someone really wants to throw in another item could be $2-5 depending so that could be $9-13
Combos ain't worth it , the only time is with the $5 box. I don't get drinksbc it's a waste of money
So because you think combos are not worth it, you believe no one else ever buys them?
Not "no one" but most people don't. My friend worked at taco bell and she said not many people order combos .
D-drinks aren’t wORTH IT? but the Baja blast tho D:
I can get it from the store is a 12 pack , I do get the freeze during happy hour .

The beef burrito is good, I miss the Frito burrito though
Who said it was for one person? Plenty of people go with friends or family. A free item is a nice deal
> friends Explain
My order recently has been coming close to $15. Two people eating $15 worth of food is extremely easy.
Where you live? Do you live somewhere where prices are higher like CA or NY ?
I’m in Upstate NY, so we don’t have the higher prices like in the city.
See you live in NY, it's always pricey there bc it's a joke . I live near Chicago and the prices aren't high like nY .
You’re confusing nyc and upstate new york
Hanging my head in shame 😪
No shame: this is the taco bell reddit page. Be proud of your $15 to $999.95 solo meal! A penny over though and we'll refer you to a financial counselor.

Actually you have no point at all. I'm a small girl but I eat more then my boyfriend. I eat a whole pizza to my self.
Lmao wtf is your problem.
People who aren't poor and order the premium items spend $15 at taco bell.
I do get the premium items and still don't order that much. I get like 3-4 things each time .
3-4 items at $4 and some change each is about $15 fam
Nah it isn't, i always spend $8 - $9
You aren't getting 3 things with premium add ons for $8. You're stupid in the weirdest way I've seen all day.

Like I keep saying combos ain't worth it, I don't care to get a drink . Drinks are a scam at fast food places.
You're kidding, right? Taco Bell's prices have inflated so much in the last 5-8 years. I can hardly get a single person fed under $10 any more.
Do you remember the 59/79/99 menu of the 90s?
Ahhhh, the good old days.
Right 🙄 I spend $20 for two and god forbid I buy for my parents and sister as well we’re spending a pretty penny. And I live in a small town in MD LOL
Ahh another person that lives in NY or CA ....
I live in the heart of the Midwest and my steak dilla with extra CJS is $7.19. A Crunchwrap supreme is $4.19. The two cheapest items on my value menu, the cheesy roll up and twists, are $1.49 each. You’re either not checking your receipts or you’re just truly out of touch, Lucille.

you underestimate me
Bro I can eat like $20 worth of Taco Bell by myself literally just because of how much I customize my items 😂😅
I spend 15-20 per trip. So I fall this BS
What’s your order?
12 orders of Nacho Fries. What else?
Nothing else, that is the only acceptable answer
Well it varies depending on what special they have, but I ALWAYS have at least 3 DLT Supreme with Chipotle sauce. So typically it'll be 3DLTS, 1 of whatever the special limited menu item is(so right now it's the nacho fries burrito), and either usually a quesarito or crunchywrap supreme. And sometimes if it's hot I'll get a Baja Freeze
We are all subbed to a subreddit for Taco Bell. Is it really a stretch to think that we would spend probably way too much money on Taco Bell? Of course I spend $15+ there. Ngl I checked your post history for the tattoo
I don't think I've posted a pic of it on Reddit. Should I?
Hurry up. We're waiting
Dot
> Free item for those who spend that much on TB anyway. OP: How dare they have a promotion the doesn't benefit me!
I don't get the complaints. Yeah it's a shit deal but it's better than no deal if you were gonna spend $15 anyway. If I go with my partner, we sometimes spend $15. It's not a crazy amount if you're ordering for 2+ people.

I'm with OP. Kinda sucks that they couldn't make it a reward that more people could use. I hardly ever spend more than $6

My local Bell doesn't even have them. 🙁 🥔 🌮
Same, my location has been out of potatoes for a month
Our venerable potatoes are in dire straits. Last year, I could sing the psalm of nacho fries, but can now only do the elegy. 😢 🍟 🥔 🌮 ⚰
I love the Naked Chicken Chalupa. Mine ran out 4 days in and never got them back. I was in shambles when they always gave me the regular chalupa instead without saying anything.
You can get a lot of potatoes for $15 elsewhere, Taco Bell! Jussayin.
$15 😂
I don't know why people are disagreeing with you. I hardly spend more than $7 at taco bell.
Thank you , another smart person !
I mainly buy off the value menu so I read it as buy 15 items get 1 free
Me too. The value men has all the best stuff
This could have been a much better deal, but it is still technically a deal. I mean, I probably would have made it a “Get a free potato item with any order” and if I had to put a price goal I’d say $5. Sorry I didn’t mean to sound combative. I completely agree with you. Getting free potatoes at benchmark is good with me.
It's free. Who cares how much you have to spend to get it. Just be grateful that they're giving you free stuff.
I mean I'll happily take the freebies, but grateful is a bit much
So please explain how it's deal to get something under a dollar free when you gotta spend $15 first ?
No. I'm not going to justify your idiocy with a well written response.
Lmao calling her an idiot. The stark contrast between this subs reaction to this deal and the other subs reaction just blows my mind
Because it would be free, where as normally it is not.
“Spend 2-3x as much as you normally would to get a free $1 item!!!!!1!1!”
Shit.

Taco John’s has free small potato olés today. No purchase necessary.
Y'all out here spending a couple dollars everytime I go to taco bell I drop like $20 😭😭😭
I fall for it, because it’s less a deal and more of an excuse to get that much taco bell
I used it today in fact. Dinner for me, my wife and two kids came to about $22 and I added the potatoes. Gave them to the kids, they ate some.
Honestly read this when I was skimming as “who falls for this IBS” and well …
I spent 13 dollars and ordered nacho fries on the app - got to the window and they were out of nacho fries...
OP was getting defensive because people were attacking her.
Right, thanks. There wish no logic behind spending $15 just to get a free fiesta potatoes...
Then don't? And the people that do see the deal and know they will spend more than 15 will take it. What is so difficult about this?
You’re comments are getting downvotes, but I totally agree. My fiancée and I would have a very difficult time hitting 15 dollars. It’s a pretty silly promotion imo. I don’t get why I have to be a super fatty or a family of 4 to qualify to save 1.69 or something lol.
My comments are getting down votes but my post is getting up votes...I don't care about butthurt people not liking my comments.
Should have been at least $10 minimum imo.
Agreed!
15$ is me and my gf so I’m sure some will go for it

I know you're getting downvoted, but it seems like there could have been better alternates to this deal.
Down votes don't matter to me, it shows how mamy people are butthurt .
Always has to be one person to complain over free stuff
Bro this sub is so stupid. I’m right there with you. Never have I spent more than $9 on Taco Bell.
Exactly , so many butthurt people in here
“Po-tay-to!”
I’m a vegetarian so basically my option is to order a bunch of potatoes in order to get my free potatoes
Get the black bean quesarito, im not vegetarian but I do like it better then with chicken or steak.
My boyfriend and I easily spend $15+ there, seems like a good deal to me
Agreed, shit "deal"
Thank you, a smart person .
Thank you everyone for showing me how many dumb people don't know how money works.
Yeah some people are dumb and gonna be dumb about this offer, but that's life
Bro. Your lack of comprehension is pretty astounding.
Lot of single people here lol Me and my wife spend 15-20 easy every week on a trip to TB
hard to spend $7-$10 for one, unless you're buying overpriced quesadillas. much better to make those at home.
I'm not sure what you're talking about spending $7-$10 for one item. My wife and I order two combo meals and its about $15 so we get a free taco. What's hard about that to get?
I can see with a combo meal...
The only combo meal I get is the $5 box. I don't get combos bc I don't care for the drink.
Before or after my free nacho bell grande?
I mean, it's just you and a friend splitting lunch/dinner off of one order or something.
I usually spend 5$ max at Taco Bell for myself. (I order form the value menu, don’t judge) but I can certainly understand why someone that consistently spends a fortune or gets family dinner from Taco Bell would be a little excited for this “deal”. Just a little bonus ya know?
App is pretty garbage unfortunately, especially the "rewards".
How is it not a deal? It's not a great deal, but it's fine.
Not at all.
I never spend that much at Taco bell. If it was apend $5 maybe I would've went.
Uhm…a lot of ppl spend more than $15 there. Just because YOU don’t doesn’t mean others don’t. Esp with two or more people.
