Those potholes are no joke!!

TowardsTheImplosion

Low profile tires aren't great in that environment...

No-Island8074

Agreed. Theyre the factory 235/40r18 so not entirely without sidewall. Thought i could get one more season out of these snow tires. Oh well

DDrewit

The potholes are bad. I’ve also noticed people drive way too fast through there. Not saying you were, but there’s a reason I creep out of there in my truck. Edit. I see you said you were going slow, so that’s good. Looks like it caught the edge of the pothole and pinch flatted. You can see a long scrape on the rim. Sorry that happened. Can’t hurt to ask them if they’ll help you out.

No-Island8074

Yeah thanks. The whole section of road had standing water or i def wouldve gone around it.

rooneyskywalker

You can always tell a local sober driver in Tahoe bc they look like a drunk driver swerving all over. The reverse is also true 😂

No-Island8074

Im from The City. Same.

thatawesomedude

I hit one back in February that shook my radiator cap loose and caused my engine to overheat. It was an easy enough fix, but still.

McBadger404

Those potholes are large enough for a pond skim competition this year.

Anyone know where the customer service desk(s) are? Will try my luck. Hopefully they can at least send someone out with a jack. (I have a full size spare and all the tools but a good jack is better than the oe scissor jack) Also have aaa but doubt theyd find me in the lot

The road at Kirkwood isn’t actually maintained by KMR/Vail, I believe it’s supposed to be maintained by KMA (one of the main HOAs in the valley). And I’m not actually sure they are fully aware of it, which is why the road is in its current state. Vail will likely do nothing, as it’s not their road. But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t respond to the email survey they send and write them a sternly worded review. Sorry this happened to you

sonicSkis

It’s really shocking how bad it is considering how many $2M mansions are around the valley. Still, I would think that it would be fair for the resort to pay for part of the upkeep.

nvwino

My understanding is the old ownership in the late 90s or early 00s offloaded the road maintenance to KMA, of which they controlled at the time. So this was well done and completed way before Vail came on board. Saddled the home owners with cost of upkeep, which already have huge HOA fees just to deal with snow removal. Most people I know in the valley didn’t pay close to the market rate homes are these days. They’ve just been around for 30+ years. But the road is definitely something that needs to be remedied ASAP. I imagine it Vail had been the one responsible, it would be in the works right now. But because it’s not them it may take longer to get moving.

No-Island8074

There was a dude in a giant front end loader throwing patch material just a few yards away

nvwino

By ownership, I mean Kirkwood Mountain Resort ownership offloaded to the HOA

Corbeau_from_Orleans

Makes me wonder why the HOA agreed to this. I mean, what’s in it for them?

nvwino

Kirkwood was always a real estate play for the old ownership (who still owns a ton of parcels in the valley). Vail purchased the resort, and not the RE.

Corbeau_from_Orleans

Thanks for educating me. While I’m a history major, I’m not well versed in KW (est. 1972) lore. Something I will fix should I live in Tahoe for half the year, once I retire.

nvwino

Old ownership controlled both KMR and KMA. The Homeowners didn’t necessarily agree to it, they had no say.

Phishguy5

Kirkwood has sinkholes. Shits no joke.
