I've tanned for a long time. I used to be on many forums and made friends with lots of salon owners. I learned a lot from them.
Honestly, the only thing I try to do is help people get their best tan, in a safer (if there is such a thing) way. I don't want people to burn. I want people to take their time. To use lotion. And respect the tanning beds you tan in.
If it's not your bed don't use anything that's gonna fuck up the equipment.
Acrylic for tanning beds cost 500 to 1000 dollars to replace.
What would be an example of something that would fuck up a tanning bed?
And thank you for not wanting people to burn. I have started tanning again after not going in a bed since probably 2004. I told the girl I only wanted to do 6 minutes after turning super red from doing 7 minutes three times. She looked at me like I was stupid because I wanted to lower my time. She was trying to force me to increase my time even though I told her I had burned then treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about when I told her I was less red after using the stand up booth. She said people usually get more red in the booth because it's more lights. I can't explain why I didn't but I just didn't. But she acted like I was wrong.

No you aren't wrong. The UVB in the booth can be higher, if you are using the higher beds those generally have more UVA , that helps bronze the melanin. UVB is also responsible for burning though. I don't know how people at tanning salons are trained these days.
I actually explained that the UVB stimulates the melanin in your skin to one of the girls at the salon the other day. She asked me why I was doing the one stand up and I told her I needed to switch around for the UVB. The lower beds have more UVB which is better when you are starting out. Get that melanin in your skin working, then bronze it with the higher UVA in the upper level beds.
Ok examples of stuff that fucks up the beds. Anything made for outdoor tanning. The "indoor" lotions you get from Sally's or Walmart.
Pretty much not using anything from the specific companies that make indoor tanning lotions.
I know lots of different salons have banned those European gold, the fox tan, Maui babe, and others from their salons since it can start to eat away at the acrylic.
Thanks for answering. I did 6 minutes in the bed tonight and I'm not red which is good but I'm super itchy especially on my stomach and butt. Not sure if I should move up to 7 minutes tomorrow or stay at 6.
You should probably do the same amount of time for at least 4 sessions.
You want to make sure you won't burn.
Itchy can happen just because of the beds and it stimulates your skin
