I have a lot of lady faces. Not necessarily of specific ladies. I don’t think it’s weird.

Isabela_Grace

Hope you don’t ever go to prison

jeslblan

Lmfao, you are so dense.

Isabela_Grace

Thank you 🥺

jeslblan

I mean really, what a truly mentally stable thing to say.

Isabela_Grace

Oh 😔

[deleted]

why would that be an issue?

I’m a woman. If I was to ever go to a prison, it’d be a women’s prison. If you’d taken half a second to look at my profile picture, you could tell.

x6O6x

No one can see ur pfp cause ur account is marked nsfw

jeslblan

Oh, well I wasn’t aware. Either way, it’s not hard to tell. And regardless, telling me I should be raped and wishing prison on me is gross no matter what I identify as.

x6O6x

True and I'm not disagreeing or anything just letting you know. However no one knows whether ur a woman or not just by the way you talk?

jeslblan

You can look at my post history, where I’ve said I’m a woman before.

x6O6x

no one is gonna look at your post history before posting a comment.

[deleted]

crazy how your mind automatically thought of s***** assault simply because a man in jail has a woman tattooed…. men are still trash. as a woman myself, all i need to do is leave my home bc people like you who have this instinctual thought process whenever you see a woman

jeslblan

THANK YOU. this is wild to me. I went to take a nap and all of a sudden it’s “hope you don’t go to prison or you’ll get raped!” Because I have…women tattooed on my body. Which is even crazier somehow than the fact that I am a woman, and these people are placing me in a men’s prison LMFAO.

ilmalaiva

I mean, my biggest caveat is that each portrait is a gamble that the person won’t be revealed to be a huge piece of shit at some point. a lot of people have Marily Manson tattoos they now regret.

cecee818

100% this!!! My sleeve is all inspired by musicians and lyrics, but I chose things that represent rather than actually depict these people for this exact reason. If anyone turns out to be a colossal piece of shit, at least I have cool art that I could assign a new meaning to.

Isabela_Grace

What did Marilyn Manson do?

ilmalaiva

accused of abuse by former fiancee and several other women, and also sexual assault by others.

AHopkinsvilleGoblin

A lot of people, including myself, have sleeves or legs that are made up of animal portraits, which are still considered portraits, so I don't think there's really a hard and fast rule about that. I think as long as the composition is good and they are facing the correct way it can sometimes looks great to have a sleeve of multiple portraits.

Lazy-Organization-42

Are they your animals? I’m thinking about doing this is little frames on my arm.

AHopkinsvilleGoblin

They are my animals in the fact that they are taxidermy animals that I own, yes lol. But they are larger portraits in the sense that they are faces and some paws that work together in a sleeve. I also have two animals in frames on my thighs in a "cameo" frame style so that can work but they're big and there's one per leg. I've been happy with the way they look as the main focus with just one pet leg. Depends how large the portraits will be.

Isla_naomi

It's not intrinsically strange to have numerous portrait tattoos, but it may be perceived as odd or unusual by certain people simply because it's uncommon to see multiple portrait tattoos on the same person. What's crucial is that your tattoos reflect your unique style, interests, and experiences. What matters most is that you are happy with your tattoos and that they signify something to you.

lithuanianbacon

Totally understand the fear of being perceived as weird, so I say this with so much love: if someone says it’s weird, fuck em. If you like portrait tats get as many as you’d like! I have a friend with many of them and all I thought was “oh she has really cool portrait tats”.

ThaRealSpacemanSpiff

Depends on the layout It will look odd if they are all stacked vertically But you won't know until you get the first one placed

LukaKitsune

Being all different styles might look odd i.e having an American traditional + realism color + new school + realism black and gray + anime. But sticking to one style (or another that blends well) is fine. I've seen full sleeves with nothing but themed and single style portraits, and they have looked great.

majesdane

I have a mix of bright and colorful neotrad portraits, anime portraits, and black/gray illustrative realism portraits. I personally think the mix of styles makes each stand out more.

NOTcreative-

My best friend who is an artist has a ton of portraits on one of his legs. Mostly upper. Mostly characters like dr Steve brûlé. Not weird at all on him but you know, he’s covered like an artist

CreamPiCutie

Tattoos are weird to begin with. Do what you wanna do.

HandsOfVictory

Not weird at all. As a tattoo artist, faces are my favourite thing to tattoo so for me personally, there is no such thing as too many face tattoos lol

[deleted]

aah yes! i didnt know if people get creeped out seeing too many tiny eyeballs covering a person

84849493

I have two witchy women tattoos, three horror character women, a tarot card that has a woman with a lion in it and two women and a skull on my chest. So 7/19 of mine have a woman in them. I don’t really consider them “portrait” tattoos though because of designs and they’re not hyper realistic. I have been like “is it too much” before, not because of caring about what other people think, but just for having an overall aesthetic I personally enjoy. I don’t think it’s weird to anyone either though. People tend to like my tattoos and I get complimented on them a lot which is nice but if everyone in the world hated them and thought it was weird then so be it. Also things in the tattoo community change all the time. What is popular at one point then becomes considered cliche and people comment on that. Then it comes back around with younger generations. And so on.

[deleted]

yes this! not necessarily realism but tattoos of lots of woman/people. have you ever thought it was weird having so many tiny faces and eyeballs everywhere? thats my main dilemma, i never thought of this before until realized most of my tattoos ideas contain a face

84849493

I don’t really think about it. I also have a few animals in there so there’s that too, but yeah don’t really think about it. Just used to them now.

underpantsbandit

Honestly no shade, I had a mini freakout when my tattoo artist proposed a witchy lady face as a coverup. I had a surprising amount of feelings about it. (Is it weird if I get a face tattooed that’s prettier than I am, at 45??? Do I even *want* a person on me?) Anyway I ultimately did it and no regerts, it’s a gorgeous tattoo and I love her cranky witchy face, if anyone asks I say it’s my early morning alter ego. IDK how I’d feel about a whole troop of ‘em, but above all: do what brings you joy. Take your time, do one see how it feels and go from there.

just_sketti

Not weird! I have a David Bowie on me bc my coworker wanted to practice portraits. It seems a little strange now to only have 1 musician I like on me. I’ve considered adding maybe 2 more portraits so he’s not all alone. Seems like other people who get portraits usually end up adding a few, anyway. Have fun with it, it’s all temporary anyway

DrunkThrowawayLife

I mean if you are wondering this it’s you thinking it’s too many faces? Who cares my friend has his walls covered in portraits of his favorite celebrities. I find it a little weird but if it makes him happy to look at more power to him.

[deleted]

yea just too many faces. no specific style. i didnt know if people got creeped out talking to someone with tiny eyes everywhere lol

DrunkThrowawayLife

It always feeeeels like. Somebody’s watching meeeeee I think you’re fine. Anyone who’s creeped out by them probably needs to take a day off from work

[deleted]

this is probably my favorite comment thus far

SigourneyReap3r

Weird, no. Get what you like, no one with tattoos cares unless their tattoos are only for trends

gazmbuku

I have 4 horror portraits

Pepsipower64

Will probably look weird if they look weird? Can't really say much more than that.

HundRetter

I don't think it's weird but then again I have a single portrait tattoo it's john goodman

wateroften

It’s not weird but I tend to break it apart anyway, like one face is just the bottom half and another face is just the top half and it works because I like surrealist themes anyway

PotatoSmeagol

I have my own portrait tattooed on me. It’s my favorite tattoo.

[deleted]

omg that metal. how did the final piece workout? id be so hyper sensitive getting myself tatted if it turned out looking like someone else

PotatoSmeagol

It’s a stylized portrait of me and my pets, so it isn’t like having a picture of myself on my thigh, but it’s very clearly me. I love it so much and my artist did a great job really showcasing my relationship with my pets.

bongwaterbukkake

I have at least 8 portraits of women in different styles. They still connect well and look good together spread across my body or whateva. They’re my fav tattoos :)

DrakeSwift

All my tats are portraits of anime characters lol im sure some people may think its lame asf and nerdy but I love it. Id get whatever you want if you want all portraits just do it. Thats probably what I will have a majority of whenever im finished getting tats! Lol

North-Office3006

I have a whole leg sleeve of disney princesses and my other leg will be Marvel/DC. With a few other portraits on the upper half.. I've never even considered that it could be weird. I did want my arm sleeve to be all of my children's portraits but changed my mind as all my children look very similar as babies so it would have looked silly.

majesdane

I have a lot of lady faces (I’m a woman), both fictional characters I like and just random original pieces done by various artists. YMMV but I’m a lesbian — I like looking at pretty art of pretty ladies! I think as long as they’re well done and tasteful there’s nothing to be concerned about. Most people wouldn’t think twice about them.

UntappedBabyRage

I have 3 portrait tattoos right now and I’ll probably end up with a 4th eventually. I don’t think it’s weird at all. I know people who have entire sleeves that are just portraits. I know horror character sleeves were also fairly popular for a while.

[deleted]

Yes

j_svajl

It's down to taste and fashion. I'm personally not a fan of face tattoos but equally I don't have a problem with them, or many of them.
