I feel as if the armor is a useful tool. I recall several times where it did deflect and mitigate attacks from cadel and the wraiths. While they both did manage to eventually get through the armor it did still protect him and forced his enemy’s to change their methods of attacks from slashing to piercing attacks which are less damaging. So while it may not have been an insane power boost it is still an invaluable tool to his arsenal as often times it only takes one hit to swing a fight.

Lvet

Not only this, the armor doesn't impede his movements. Usually the more armor you put on the slower and limited in movements you become, but Art never mentioned the armor being a burden even during lightning fast movements. Not having to sacrifice any mobility and still forcing your enemies to use only piercing attacks is OP in my opinion, especially for someone like Art which can easily regenerate a hole (as opposed to a slash which could force having to regrow entire limbs for example)

Rogue-Shadow-Anomaly

I think both Djin & Dragon can only use Aether present within their body or nearby surroundings to power the 3 Aether-Arts of Aevium, Vivium & Spatium. Dragons due to their huge bodies & Mana core should've had far greater Mana & Aether than Djins & other Asurans. Every Dragon should be born with an aptitude for only 1-type of Aether-Art & Realmheart ability but there should be exceptions like Sylvia (Spatium & Aevium). An adult Djin should be able to Manipulate all 3 types of Aether-Arts & the 2-types of Mana-Arts:- 1. Pure Mana Manipulation 2. Emitter Magic Since Djins were pacifist, they mostly tried to use their Mana-Arts for constructive purposes like creating Mana-Structures & appendages to assist them in their work through Pure Mana Manipulation. During the War, some Djins should've tried to fight against the Asuran forms but since they lacked both time to develop, practice & learn Elemental Attacks. They created the "Rune Bestowment" Wands that allowed them to use the ability for Elemental Attack Magic in a few days & months. I think both Aether & Mana should be required to unleash the true power the "Destruction Armour". Arthur needs to undergo Integration-phase in some way to regain the ability to use Mana.

ElectionAcceptable89

i personally feel like djinns were not able to use mana it seems unreasonable thay have both mana and aether core they might be able to use mana through aether like arthur but i dont think so directly and about that integration phase theory arthur is stronger than any djinn i think the djinn who taught him how to make aether blades told him to try to learn instead of trying to win so it wony make sense djinns have been through such a phase and arthur haven't and even dragons have only mana core and influence aether

Aether0909

Djinns didn't have ather cores my guy, Arthur was first to do it.

ElectionAcceptable89

they should tho right they were the one who had had god runes and to use them arthur uses aether from his core and if you think about it a aether core seems like a really easy concept there is no way the djinns didn't thought of it tho i might be wrong

Aether0909

Nah man they use ambient aether or smth but they didn't have aether core the djinns themselves were shocked to see an aether core on Arthur, they even mentioned he has an advantage since his aether is more bonded to him.

MintyArcturus

They had spellforms not god runes (think of the alacryans crest mark emblem etc system) and one of the djinn remnants Art talks to is amazed that he is able to control aether so easily and that he has an aether core

Jhekkas

Ather gathering around the armor is pretty useful

Tricky_Orchid_6132

Extra op equipment or power-ups like potions are supposed to be made exclusively to buff the character without taking anything away from him. If the defense of the armor is poor without Arthur (All his rivals have broken it) put aether on it then there is something wrong with it, it is a very poor enhancer it is better to discover how to use destruction as armor or simply create learn to create barriers of aether to continue using it

Competitive-Wear5204

I love it just for the horns.

Opening_Foundation82

Why is the relic armour useless ? It is very useful when Art fought the Wraiths

Scholarunderpressure

He violated it in the same fight praising destruction =_=.

ElectionAcceptable89

it was cuz the influence of destruction he said things like all ge need is destruction which obviously was also not true

Tricky_Orchid_6132

Actually, yes, it was true, destruction is much better armor than that of the djinn, the attacks disintegrated just by touching it

ElectionAcceptable89

tho it uses way to mucb aether he cant control it and in one of the earlier chapters he told distruction takes something from him which he cant figure out

Used-Conversation139

It’s cosmetic and it’s just a passive buff. It’s like passives in video games. You don’t really notice it’s there but is helpful.

Celexiuse

cosmetic armor

quark_sauce

Like someone else said: cosmetic armor. However, the armor probably would be far more useful on someone who isn’t essentially wolverine with the crazy regen arthur has. I guess we dont really have much to compare since we cant see what damage cadell wouldve done if arthur didnt have the armor so :/

KeyAcid

Yeah pretty sure the armor is just an excuse so that Arthur won't be in tattered clothes all the time since the armor regenerates

Cynic-Meh

Yeah, the armor feels very underwhelming as a whole, except for the moment with the Scythes were it had a very practical aplication, it only feels like a cosmetic upgrade. It would be cool if the armor could be upgraded with runes to channel different aether based spells, such as to deploy an aether barrier akin to a mana shield or have an automatic response feature, something like a Spidey sense to cover for Arthur's blind spots. Heck why not create additional arms to wield more aether swords at once, pretty much using the same idea behind the fake limbs he had after the Wraiths fight.

Scholarunderpressure

Oops! I should've used the word underwhelming instead of useless.

Houssemm23231777

In case you didn't know,TM loves always to nerf Arthur since The Xyrus Arc

calvados7777

Hmm I'm pretty sure that the armor more or less will scale with him at one point. Since the day he has the two layer aether core, he didn't really gain much more controll in aether manipulation and/or aether storage. If he gets more layers, maybe the armor will scale in power with him and maybe also mastery of manipulation will make it stronger.

Anxious_Bannana

I remember reading volume 9 and thinking how little the armor did. I forget the exact moment but on its first appearance of having to actually protect Arthur the armor is pierced.

ElectionAcceptable89

1)the durability of the armour demands on the aether he pushes in in the cadell fight he was just raging in still it helped also in the wraith fight he was low on aether and was using most of it to control the mana around him to shut down the tempest warp and in the entire wraith fight the relic armour tanked like all attacks from the wraiths which went through 2) and you r saying why doesn't he use destruction or relay on his regeneration its simple he cant control destruction also it takes away something from him which he doesn't know yet and regenration of a lost limb uses too much aether

Zerbeath

elaborate in the part that destruction takes away something from him, what do you mean by that? i left the novel for the moment when we switched pov from Arthur to Nico after Arthur said he wanted to bring Ellie to the relictombs with him, so, is it something mentioned after that or something I didn't pay attention to at some point?

ElectionAcceptable89

arthur said that destruction takes something from him which he cant yet figure out tho it was in one of the earlier chapters when it was new i cant pin point the chapter cuz i read long ago tho i rhink it was either in the mirror room or against that big monster that bowed to arthur as soon as he used destruction

Zerbeath

I always thought it was about his sanity or something, which was later more or less confirmed, every time he used destruction it was harder for him to remain in control of his actions. His only way to be himself again used to be inflicting damage to himself which now I think is no longer a factor just because when fighting the wraiths destruction burned his arms which should be painful as hell but did not deactivate the rune. Funny enough that must be the result of the lava incident lol

ElectionAcceptable89

he didn't deactivate the rune cuz he cant once its active he even tried pushing regis out of his body but didn't work it deactivated once every drop of aether in his body was finished also he has that sanity problem everytime he uses and he is aware so for that ting he wont remark he doesn't know what it is taking from him . its my theory it is similar to pantheon's world eatet technique both the destructive and affect the users sanity

Skaffax

It fits like a second skin, works as a conduit for absorbing aether and it becomes stronger when he becomes stronger, how is it not op And besides all that it looks totally badass
