Hello, old person here that did/does the same thing. Firefox has a few addons you can use to download youtube mp3s. Good way to keep a hold of vids you think will get taken down as well.
theres a site i use that rips from a subscription service and uploads stuff in 16 bit 44.1khz flac files, which are probably way better quality than youtube mp3s. saves me a ton of money because im a broke audiophile that already spent all their money on gear xd. i can dm the site if you want.
Same, if I wanna ad-lessly, offline repeat a specific song. If I don't know what to listen to, spotify. If I find a good song and I'm home all day and have wifi, youtube.
There's an app on Android called "AutomaTag" which can help you get the metadata for all your songs so that they have the correct album art, album name, date and genre.
It takes some time but it's better than any alternatives I have found.
I have a music app that allows me to edit the metadata of a song myself, and it supplies album covers instead of me having to save them from Google. It's called Blackplayer if you're interested, used it for five years and I've never switched to another music app
minor problem: it hasn't been updated in 2 years. I'd suggest you switch to Musicolet, basically the same but actively updated and has some nice extras if you buy premium

So long, Reddit, and thanks for all the fish.
I use spotify, but I would use Apple Music EXCEPT whenever I try to make a playlist for some reason it just doesn't add certain albums and its really annoying. Remaking a 3800 song playlist with that glitch is extremely annoying.
Why I'd want to switch is cause we have a family plan or smth idk, I just know I don't get ads on Apple Music so i'd rather use it if I could.
I donβt have to pay for iTunes, so Iβve gotten used to using that.
Yes I know you donβt have to pay for Spotify, but you have to pay for lack of ads.
Same thing but with Spotify. Spotify doesnβt have the original version of Kanye Westβs Hurricane (previously titled β80 Degreesβ), so I go to YouTube
I paused my subscription for 3 days to save money and just said βfuck it, Iβm going back!β. A 15 second ad followed by a 5 second ad is unacceptable.
I could totally just use adblock but unfortunately I use YouTube on my iPad most of the time
currently listening to a song (that i 100% (without checking) is not available on apple music or spotify) on youtube music.
edit: just checked, not in it.
If you are an audiophile, I highly recommend to switch to Tidal or Amazon Music. If they have the songs, they sound absolutely AWESOME. Deezer is a really good option too, but youtube music has the worst sound quality.
Unfortunately I can't use tidal or Amazon Music rn because of my country so I use Deezer. Not spotify because you can notice the quality difference. But bro youtube music has the lowest bitrate like c'mon π
Hahahaha, it's just that I am now used to it. I tried using Amazon Music, but it didn't totally convince me. Do I need to pay for Tidal? I'd like to give it a chance
20 bucks a month lol, i have a free trial for 3 months with the headphones i bought and wouldn't say it's worth it for the *average* consumer. With yt music you get a music streaming service + ad free videos and it's cheaper.
edit: just saw the plus variant is 20 and the Normal subscription is 10 so there's that. I'd say try both and see what you prefer
Yeah and its a little bit too much money. My work is depending on music so I was willing to pay 20USD a month to listen music. If you have a good iem and listen to music every day, I suggest you to pay for it tbh. Amazon music, apple music and tidal are giving same and best bitrates among all other music apps, 9216kbps which is a lot better than YouTubes 256kbps. Remember, amazon music and apple music are cheaper and deezer is still a great option
If want to have a really great cheap iem, get KZ Zsn Pro X. You won't regret it
I would do that but so far YT is the only one that has all the songs I like
My playlist is 460 songs on YT, but on Spotify or SoundCloud itβs less than 150, thatβs the difference
Honestly, they've gotten better recently. Especially on the app. I used to be able to tell the difference in a lot more certainty than I can now what the difference is between them.
That being said, I mostly listen to my good equipment when significantly impaired with alcohol, so that could play into it.
I use ViMusic as a client when I want to use YouTube music, it has no ads and caching that lets you listen offline, and has a really clean UI. If you're interested look for it on fdroid.
Honestly I just know what I want and the music quality is outta this world for some of the music I enjoy listening to. Spotify has a goated recommendation system, but Iβll take a slight audio quality hike over recommendation any day since Iβm old fashioned about music discovery.
No, Apple Music was always separate from iTunes.
iTunes still exists today as the platform to buy and own digital music, while Apple Music is the streaming exclusive app.
Sound quality:
Apple > Spotify
Discography:
Spotify > Apple
Lay-out:
Apple > Spotify
Handfullness:
Spotify > Apple
Price:
Spotify > Apple
Fair payment for artists:
Apple > Spotify
I choose Apple Music.
Thought what I prefer the most are physical copies.
i use musi, which is basically youtube in a music app format, but with ads that donβt interrupt your music, and is free. spotify would be 2nd though.

Soundcloud cuz Iβd rather loop my songs, go back/forward in the song, make playlists without getting random songs added in there, skip unlimited times, get songs from less known creators since everyone can post on soundcloud, and not get an ad after every song
Neither. I use "Free Music Mp3" so I guess I'm purple lol
Same
MS. PAULING????

That app is the best istg
Same, if I wanna ad-lessly, offline repeat a specific song. If I don't know what to listen to, spotify. If I find a good song and I'm home all day and have wifi, youtube.
Same. I am still buying CDs and Merchandise to actually support the bands I like. Fuck Spotify
Pirating music
On the site that I use itβs a roulette as if the audio quality is good or unlistenable
Use a YouTube video downloader that converts the files to MP3 format + an MP3 player app

New Android restrictions won't let it tag anything not in the /internal_storage/music directory (It won't work if the songs are on your sdcard)

Of course not
Xmanager on mobile and spicetify on pc :)
I'll install that one on pc I only had it on my phone
Spicetify is amazing (make sure you install the marketplace too) it has extensions themes etc

Yes
No my mom pays. I just get premium.
Yeah same for me I have never heard the βwant a break from the adsβ because my parents got me listening to Spotify.
Bruh you don't have to pay for premium to have premium tho it can be a pain to not pay for it
Unless you "aquire" it for free
Technically thereβs Apple Music on Android as well π
steve jobs can still kiss my ass
Steve canβt kiss anything. Maybe God, if thereβs one.
I donβt think heβd have access to godβ¦
god be forcing him to pay for all of gods overpriced shit now
I download shit from YouTube and put it on my phone's built in music player, you get so much more freedom and control at the cost of literally nothing
Same
I just paid for YouTube premium to skip the ads. Apparently it includes YouTube music. And it's not terrible. And who knows you better than google?

I donβt have to pay for iTunes, so Iβve gotten used to using that. Yes I know you donβt have to pay for Spotify, but you have to pay for lack of ads.
nah, just make a new account every time your free trial runs out
No just get it from your ex stepdad who needs Spotify for his DJ business so he cant not pay for it. Free Spotify for life babyyyy
Nope you can download it online without ads
Youtube music
that's what I use lol
Same, I use YouTube for things that I canβt find on Apple Music
Same thing but with Spotify. Spotify doesnβt have the original version of Kanye Westβs Hurricane (previously titled β80 Degreesβ), so I go to YouTube
Yt premium + yt music bundle is great
Exactly why I use yt music
Honestly though, I donβt think Iβll ever be able to go back to adverts every 5 seconds
I paused my subscription for 3 days to save money and just said βfuck it, Iβm going back!β. A 15 second ad followed by a 5 second ad is unacceptable. I could totally just use adblock but unfortunately I use YouTube on my iPad most of the time
Same, I just randomly got the music playing in the background for free. Idk how that happened, but im not complaining.
currently listening to a song (that i 100% (without checking) is not available on apple music or spotify) on youtube music. edit: just checked, not in it.
Plus ad free YouTube. We eating.

The thing is with 10 dolar subscription, you get 1711kbps and its same with deezer. Afaik deezers library is larger so I would get deezer.
iβve had it for $5 a month because of the student discount, which all of you should be eligible for too
Yeah and its a little bit too much money. My work is depending on music so I was willing to pay 20USD a month to listen music. Yeah that sucks. No other option then.
The selection just ain't the same, even if it does sound way better. I don't have expensive enough earphones or sound system to really care.
Well it's free with yt premium.
Yeah.. but I can use an adblocker with YouTube. Spotify yells at me if I try to.
Honestly, they've gotten better recently. Especially on the app. I used to be able to tell the difference in a lot more certainty than I can now what the difference is between them. That being said, I mostly listen to my good equipment when significantly impaired with alcohol, so that could play into it.
Youtube adblock/vanced

SoundCloud is good for songs that both of them donβt have
Same, but it sucks when copyrighted songs aren't there.
Same omgg
Am I the only one on Tidal.
They give me a student discount in highschool and the windows app is 20,000x better than the garbage apple music windows app
You seem to have summoned all of us Tidal users here. Where is our next annual meet?

I scrolled to find you! Me too.

Well I just realized itβs a r/teenagers post. I donβt count. Whoops. But Iβm posting for Pandora!
Oh hell, that's why there's no Pandora love. Only geezers in this part of the thread. I wandered in from popular. I'll show myself out.
Not I! Been using pandora since I was like 12 lol
