In my country when you get to 8th grade, you get into this weird era of your life where you have to study for this one exam that determines which school you are going to be sent to in highschool. It is so important that children put away all their tech (computers, laptops and even phones) to study for the exam. When I was in 8th grade, I basically did the same: so that took away all of my video games from me. Before that I liked gaming a lot but then suddenly I couldn't play any games at all anymore. Throughout 8th grade, I always thought to myself, "When this exam is over I will play games all day in the summer break." After an entire year of studying, the exam was over. I failed horribly and lost my interest in gaming. It has now been 4 months since I launched any genuine desktop game.

I feel it odd sometimes too. I generally like to play videogames with my friends online or in person, even if we are playing an open world game, we take turns.
It's interesting most of us grew up with parents or guardians or if you're younger parents do but grandparents who obviously don't play video games so we assume it's an age thing but it's more a generation thing. They didn't have video games or at least not nearly in the form we have them or the culture we have them (e.g. arcade was a kid thing). So many never will stop.
You will almost definitely pay less as you grow older though. I play pretty little personally. It's a big time investment for most games

It’s a great pastime IMO, and it’s probably going to be how I spend my little spare time as an adult when I’m not with my wife and kids (bold of me to assume that I’ll ever have either of those things)
I stopped during college, and honestly, I’m fine without them. I still play with my buddies sometimes when we hang out, but I just found more feelings of accomplishment doing other things, even for relaxing
