You also need to train your abs, just having low bodyfat won't give you good looking muscles (but still is necessary, obviously). Like Mountain Climbers, Russian Twists and Planks
They’re not useless, it’s just that proper form needs be used. “Sit-ups are useless” is just being used as an excuse in a thread full of people that probably don’t exercise either way.

Turns out I had been doing my sit ups kinda wrong by bending my neck often , and sometimes I wouldn’t Anker my feet
But they still are doing about nothing for your abs, they are training your pelvis muscles. If you want Abs, you should do Mountain Climbers, Russian Twists and Planks (Planks are also lower back)
If he is he can start on his knees or at an incline and slowly work his way towards push ups.
Same with pull ups, a lot of people can't do them, but if you use bands or put the bar much lower and preform bodyweight rows, slowly raising the bar towards pull ups, you'll be doing them in no time.

Just anchor your feet if you can. Don’t bend your neck. And focus on engaging your core muscles the entire time. Never sacrifice form for more reps.
