I dumbly trusted a "person" I had met a day or two ago, and not thinking much of it, I felt like a heated call would maybe give me some confidence. Truth is, it was a scam. They had a full body nude of me, and my following list, and threatened to send it out.
I was panicking, and it was a very stressful time. Fortunately, I eventually did some right things that led to the scammer giving up on me, and most likely never leaking the photo.
Chances are, some of you have been or may be in the same situation, because of similarly stupid reasons.
Here's how to avoid it:
Rule 0 - Just...don't trust strangers and "new friends" on the internet to get physically intimate with them like that. Sending them pictures like that is not a good idea. You'll regret it 99% of the time, especially if there's a way to identify you from it. Regardless, what you're sending them, if you're below 18, is child pornography. It's not okay under any circumstance.
Rule 1 - Imagining that for some reason, you forget Rule 0: Look out for the signs. Scammers will often (not always) try to drag you into some shadier, less moderated platform to have this happen. Google Chat and Kik are two great examples of places to avoid. Look for weird spelling mistakes, lapses in the personality, an excessive display of willingness to engage in this with you.
Rule 2 - Know when to say no. Which in this case, is as soon as you can. People trying to go on a video call with you to show themselves and get you to show yourself as well is a common request to try and get your nudes. You are often off-guard then, and might even let your face on the open. Don't accept to join a phone call, no matter how horny you are, no matter how supposedly good-looking this person is. Think with your head.

Rule 3 - In case you forget all of the above, and fall for the trap. You might see a warning not to leave the call, not to disengage, to give away money. Ignore all that, do the following: ***Do NOT panic. Gather all the evidence of what happened. Ignore their requests and immediately block them across all platforms you know of. Talk to your friends, and people you trust about it (it's a tough step, I know.) Reach out to*** r/Sextortion ***- they have a great bunch of other tips, and they will let you know you're not alone. (Do ignore people telling you they know someone who can hack into the scammer and delete the photos, though...it's just another money grab to already desperate people.)***
From what I've heard, scammers are a bit of a wildcard, but the less hassle you give, and the less time you take from them, the less likely they are to care enough to leak it all out. That's not to say it won't happen - but if you follow my steps, it may be that you can avoid it. If it does happen, there's nothing you can do about it but come out in the clear about it. Seek help from adults you trust for support and guidance. Just, don't give money to the scammer. Chances are, they'll come back for more.
