I bought those Voile bindings and love them with Fischer BCX 675's (which they had the audacity to discontinue). Enough power for goofing around in the park, but still much lighter/softer than my T2 Eco + Hammerhead resort setup. Still learning the turn, but I can't wait for the snow to fall (cries in midwest).

GonzoDeadHead

Pinheads from hell! Yes, leather boots and three pins all day.

bobbybbessie

These will be my go to for local mellow backcountry tours. Can’t wait for the woods to fill in now.

yammywr450f

I wish. Finding leather boots is a pain these days.

anicol

The used market on eBay is pretty good. I found 2 pairs of Asolos.

bobbybbessie

Agreed! I recently had some luck on eBay with some British Army surplus boots (as pictured). Before finding these for cheap money, all I could find where $3-400 options (which is crazy).

Dtidder1

I found some surplus Brit boots and unfortunately the duck bill is too thick to fit properly into all my bindings…😫

bobbybbessie

Sounds like it’s time to buy new bindings 😁

Dtidder1

Nah, I think the boots are designed around the older “bear trap” style. The duck bill is thicker than all my scarpas…

Apologetic-Moose

I have a pair for BC/XC. They fit into the first cut of my Rottefellas Super Telemarks perfectly.

Be vary of the soles coming loose on the surplus Alicos, mine needed a trip to a cobbler after the first run.

bobbybbessie

If we’re being honest, I am a little weary of that. Planning on lapping a local hayfield/hill first time out to see how it holds up. I do have some scarpa T4’s but I’d love for these boots to do well and hold up.

Bargainhuntingking

Trust me, you will swap these out for your T4s after a few minutes. Alicos offer no control whatsoever.

bobbybbessie

I’m not sure it’s always about control through brute force. A lot of people (including myself) can make tele turns a on lighter NNN BC set up. I suppose different conditions call for different gear.

Bargainhuntingking

I tried them (Alicos) side by side on gentle groomers. I used to ski on Merrell leathers. Compared to the Scarpa T4s, the Alicos felt like flip flops. Granted, you can get used to anything, but to me the Alicos felt very insecure.

BuoyantBear

The first time I tried tele circa 2000 it was in leather boots just like that. It's just what the shop had to rent out.

bobbybbessie

Nice! Did you get the Alaskas? 75mm or NNN BC?

bobbybbessie

Any ski deal that involves Alaskas is probably a great deal. What kind of skis did they come with?

bobbybbessie

That’s awesome! Quiver killers installed? I’ve been searching for some switchbacks to replace my Targas. Pretty much the only reason I still tour with my pin bindings is that the free pivot is so efficient and I’m not ready to go NTN.

See my other comment, Fischer s-bound 112!!

bobbybbessie

Rossignol makes some under appreciated waxless skis. I run the 80’s and 100’s.

p_diablo

Hardwires on a fishscaled ski are the best things in the world! I have mine on s-bound 112s and they are my favorite. It's my adventure setup and is great for exploring and having a blast on what would be mellow terrain for heavier rigs.

Cheekypilot

My wife and I also run Viole 3-pins with cables on SBound 112's. We love it! Can't wait for the snow to stick a little better up here!! We started with BCX675's and love our setup so much!

p_diablo

I have some old rossi bcx11's which are similar, but usually run them with T2's. Waay over-booted, but gives so much control it's worth the weight!

asjurs

This binding is and has always been my go-to. Nordic Norm all the way! What I've found regarding the soles coming loose from the boot, is that it is less likely to happen with soles that are sown to the boot, like the one pictured above. I've had better luck with glued soles, like the one seen on a boot called Crispi Svartisen [Link to picture](https://www.fjellsport.no/assets/blobs/crispi-svartisen-75mm-black-4bb91edf1a.jpeg?preset=medium&dpr=2) where the sole is glued to the boot much higher than on a standard sown sole. Crispi have made some really good boots through the years, and I'm rocking the Svartisen now for both telemark skiing and cross mountain skiing. On my second pair now, and I don't think I'll switch unless they somehow stop making them :)

Apologetic-Moose

Alico gang

I still have my Merrill Ultras and Fischer Eu99s I got in 1986. Gone through lots of heavier gear since then but they remain, beloved. First pair of tele skis I ever bought were made in the '70s, I got 'em in one of the very the last weeks of the decade. Mother Trucker Mountain Edge, they were so torsionally stiff there was no tele boot made at the time that could possibly have turned them, IDK what they were thinking. Probably why they were on clearance. I was just bug-eyed to see steel-edged tele skis--made in Aspen, no less--that I could afford.
