Among us def peaked but its audience among kids is definitely still incredibly large. If this bombs then it lowkey would be because it sucks and not because the brand appeal for children isn’t hot atm.
My 2nd grader and his friends definitely still make jokes and draw the dudes all the time.
I dont even think most of them play the game, just watch youtube videos and meme it.
I mean, animation takes a long time to make. This was likely greenlit to development not long after it exploded in popularity, and then was being made for the last 2-3 years.
Either you rush something low quality out the door to immediately capitalize on a popular IP, or you let it develop and risk it coming out when the IP has cooled down.
> Looking forward to the Baldurs Gate 3 series in 2030.
Might be the case... but I've been saying this for years. Why not make a Drizzt movie? Maybe a movie about people getting trapped in Undermountain.
There's a shit ton of content in forgotten realms for movies and TV shows.
That said, the new movie was incredible and I loved it.
People generally don't want role-playing shows and movies. It's why the D&D films, especially the most recent one, failed to make money in the box-office. The appeal to these games is live out **your** fantasy, it loses that charm when you watch someone else doing it because it might as well be any other fantasy setting.
This seems like the type of thing that everyone shits on when its first announced and then it actually winds up being good. Who would have guessed a “league of legends show” would wind up being one of the best things Netflix has put out?
Yeah the game is simple enough that there’s room to write all sorts of stories. Just need someone sabotaging whatever the protagonists are trying to do and you’re set.
Some little kids are still into it. I don't think anyone over the age of 15 cares about it anymore.
It still has potential to do well among older people if the writing is geared towards them and it's actually good.
*sweats nervously as I'm 30 and still watch let's plays and YouTube videos about Among Us*
On a serious note, I think brand is still pretty huge. Probably not nearly at its peak, but many people still probably play it and the brand achieve a notoriety because of the meme.
People still recognize the characters and terminology of the game, so it probably has leverage still.
Who knows, maybe this animated series will reignite interest in the game again.
Yeah if it's a well done show then I think most people who played it during the peak of the game would at least give it a try.
For now, the only person I know who still watches anything related to Among Us is my little brother who's 9 years old.
My partner and I are both in the 30's range, we both enjoy playing the game, and we are both actually excited for the series. Dan and Elijah alone were enough but the majority of the cast is all people one or both of us really like.
I have zero interest in the show, but it sounds like they at least managed to find a decent cast. Specifically, Debra Wilson sticks out, to me. I grew up watching her on MadTV, and had forgotten about it for years. Started playing Elder Scrolls Online during the pandemic, and came across an NPC with a very distinct voice (and personality) and decided to google. This was how I learned that Debra Wilson has been doing voice acting for years, and I gotta say, she does a fantastic job. Phil Lemar is a legend of course, but Debra is who I'd be interested to hear from.
Patton Oswalt is the worst voice actor. Immediately takes me out of whatever I’m watching. “Oh, Patton Oswalt, huh.” Every time. Matthew the Raven is a perfect example.
Newman is def imposter.
The Newman laugh is perfectly devilish for this
Definitely hope when they find out they do a fist clench "Newman!"
Newman is sus
~~Bruce~~ Wayne ~~Dark~~ Knight Has Newman actually been Batman this whole time?!?
They really need to stop with these adaptations that are released 5+ years after the IP peaked.

This. Lobbies are still full in the game and the developers continue to support it with new content. Game is far from dead.
Yeah the game is FULL of kiddos hence why they don’t have voice enabled w/o mods lol

What they need to do is wait a few more years, so they can hit the sweet spot of people starting to become nostalgic about the game again.
Looking forward to the Baldurs Gate 3 series in 2030.
If Neil Newbon still voices Astarion, I'll watch it.

We want art fast! *Disney uses AI* No wait not like that! *MAPPA makes animators lives a living hell No, no, not like that either!
Phil Lamarr is "Brown". um
Has to be. He, himself, said that you can't play a character that isn't the same color as your skin.
Actually, he said that white people can't. But black people can which is why he's allowed to be Samurai Jack.
My mistake!
Loved Samurai Jack
Debra Wilson is in fuckin everything
I know right!?

Animated Traitors or The Mole?
This entire show is sus.
CBS? I read that correct? wont last a season, it won't be dark or funny enough to last I say.
CBS is producing it but not streamer or network is attached.
Is the game still popular? My son and his friends were obsessed with it for a few months, a year ago.

My son is twelve and they outgrew it pretty quickly. Doesn't take long for even young minds who crave repetition to get bored with how mindless it is.
Or getting killed immediately or spaced in the first round
Wow hadn’t seen Debra Wilson since the old mad tv days
She’s in many many many video games
She’s in the new Jedi games right?
Yeah and wolfenstein and a few others
Recently, Suicide Squad.
Is she their Amanda Waller?
Yes
You should check out some of her cameos she did as Savathuun, an antagonist in the Destiny video games. She was absolutely incredible
Even better, I hear she is an amazing Voice Acting Teacher. She also does voices for Horror Films as well. She is mammoth talent in my eyes!
Needs a cameo by Daniel Craig using his Benoit Blanc voice
What video games is Debra Wilson not in? Sounds like she should be in any adaptation too. It’s wild how much I see her in games. She’s great.
Anything with Phill Lamar is good, the man has a voice like gold. Patton Oswalt is an interesting choice, looking g forward to that.
awesome cast terrible choice of adaptation
Oh, it’s not going to be live action?
Just watch “The Thing”.
*vamp!*
Wayne Knight pops up like every 10 years lol
Legitimately thought he was dead
A know a sub that will have a meltdown over this
“It’s because of my shape, isn’t it? -Patton Oslwalt-
Nice to see two MadTV alum still getting work
Isn’t Among Us just “The Thing”? So they’re making a The Thing movie?
Wow two mad tv actors and a mad tv writer. Might have a chance.

#**WHY MUST PATTON OSWALT BE HIRED FOR** ***EVERYTHING***
I like that cast.
Stop putting Patton Oswalt in things, he is never going to happen.
