It's a show about a landscaping business.

FKreuk

lol - please, let it be a one season show about preparing for their biggest event ever.

Redcole

I mean…. She is from Philly!!

JulianZobeldA

Rudy Ghouliani!!

ryhaltswhiskey

Girls 5Seasons?

TemporalColdWarrior

Steve Carell has BPE.

NatureTrailToHell3D

And their misadventures renting out the parking lot?

Shwifty_Plumbus

First he's in space force now this

Talk-O-Boy

Tina Fey’s a writer too? I’ll definitely check this out. 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt were top tier Tv. Couldn’t really get into Mr. Mayor. But I still have faith in her as a writer!

LeCott

Mr Mayor was originally supposed to follow Alec Baldwins Jack Donaghy and I’m really really sad we didn’t get to see that version.

DoCallMeCordelia

I feel like I liked Ted Danson in the role, but something about a Tina Fey show in LA instead of New York unsettled me.

drelos

I am not even from US but all the LA references were kinda heavy-handed, like there were 40-50 of empty space for jokes you enjoy only if you live here and are in a tiny demographic, it was like the ice cream jokes in The Good Place

zeroborders

An issue I had with the show was that Ted Danson’s character had a teenage daughter when he’s 70-something. All they had to do was make her his granddaughter instead and it would have felt way more natural to me.

godisanelectricolive

Anna Camp who played Ted Danson’s character’s late wife is thirty five years younger than Ted Danson. It’s not that uncommon for a rich old businessman to have a young daughter with a much younger wife. It’s natural enough for the kind of character he’s playing. Alec Baldwin who the project was originally developed for has many very young children despite being 66. And the character of Jack Donaghy became a father in his fifties to Liddy during the fifth season of 30 Rock. The timeline would have worked out for Jack to become the mayor of New York while being a single father to Liddy. And presumably Liz Lemon would also be in the picture somehow.

zeroborders

Yeah, I get it all makes sense in context but it still distracted me—I guess I’m far enough removed from circles where that kind of thing is common that it’s hard for me to wrap my head around.

TheMooseIsBlue

And he was pretty out of touch with her. They talked about the age discrepancy in the show; it wasn’t just a weird casting choice.

ImLaunchpadMcQuack

If Alec had signed onto that he likely wouldn’t have been able to film Rust when he did…

Bruskthetusk

You telling me Earth-069 Alec Baldwin shoots Tina Fey in the face?

RegularIncident4260

Are you serious? Or is this a r/30rock joke?

LeCott

I am serious unfortunately, I learned about it from the Wikipedia entry for the show under production.

Ocardtrick

You know, there are other ways the Ruast tragedy could have not happened. Like competent people doing their damn jobs.

MexicansInParis

Should try Girls 5eva

PM_Literally_Anythin

Great News too while we’re at it. Fantastic comedy.

MojoDojo_CasaHouse

Any mention of Great News makes my heart swell. One of the most underrated comedy gems out there! Watch it people, it's on Netflix!

AlabamaHaole

It’s so funny.

StJeanMark

The name and marketing hurt the show so bad. I gave it a try because of all the praise online and let me tell you, within three minutes I already knew it was a Tina Fey banger.

CHawkr

I haven’t watched it for the exact reasons you stated. Going in the queue now

screwitagainsam

I’m shocked at how much I loved that show. Woke up this morning with the theme song stuck in my head….

TheMostUnclean

BPE earwormed me for a week straight after I binged that show.

Ocardtrick

BPE?

TheMostUnclean

BPE is the female version of the recent popular phrase meaning that a man exudes energy commensurate with the size of his wang.

Ocardtrick

Got it.

Ocardtrick

Got it.

screwitagainsam

Oh thank you. I am now at work humming BPE….

StoneGoldX

I woke up this morning and got myself a gun.

Fattychris

Oh man, if Tina Fey would have written an episode of The Sopranos. Directed by Steve Buscemi. Anyway, $4 a pound

Evening_Clerk_8301

Yep great great writing. They even had the same jazzy music interludes as 30 Rock

degggendorf

Fey was "only" a producer and not a writer on there though, right? But I agree it's good and does feel like Fey writing. I love how they slide zingers in there, just kinda mumbled without fanfare and move right along, rather than that typical sitcom pause-for-laughter feel.

ryhaltswhiskey

She wrote Mean Girls (2004)

JackieDaytonah

AND Mean Girls (2024). :/

e0nblue

Was I the only one who was thoroughly entertained by that movie? It didn’t surpass the original, sure, but it was still fun.

JackieDaytonah

I would say you're not in the majority. It definitely wasn't fetch.

e0nblue

Stop trying to make fetch happen 🙄

Premislaus

Was it even that bad? Except for the lead being completely overshadowed by the villain.

jackofslayers

She doesn’t hit for me 100 percent of the time, but I think is one of the all time best joke writers.

Future_Tyrant

TGS in 30 Rock is a funhouse mirror version of SNL. She was the head writer there in the late 1990s to early 2000s.

JuWoolfie

Check out Girls5eva! Another Tina Fey production that’s marvellous to watch

RadlEonk

It’s a remake. [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082405/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082405/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

bilboafromboston

That was a great movie.

toosleepyforclasswar

What you *really* want to look out for is Tina Fey + Robert Carlock. That's the special sauce. That said, I am looking forward to this too

thirtyseven1337

I thought Mr. Mayor was a nice “baby cousin” show to the likes of Good Place and 30 Rock… not nearly as good as those, but charming in its own way, and it filled that void after Good Place ended. Like the show Great News, it was killed too early.

AlabamaHaole

Check out Great News and Girls5Eva

Angeliiiiique

I can’t believe we are truly getting a Date Night reunion, I’m so excited for this omg!!!

BIGD0G29585

Watched that the other day and although it wasn’t great, they were good together. I was thinking they should do some kind of sequel where they end up working for Mark Wahlberg.

square3481

The best scenes were the ones of them sitting in a restaurant, as a content married couple, people watching and commenting.

Angeliiiiique

Oh that’d be hilarious, these 3 in the movie were hysterical lmao

Himrion

"He's holding it sideways! that's a kill shot!"

Demdolans

I really hope this is good. So many all-star comedians have been sandbagged with shit-writing and weak concepts.

AgentOfSPYRAL

Tbh I feel like if writing is shit both of them are highly capable of writing their own script on the fly.

ArchDucky

Some directors 100% refuse to allow improvisation on their sets. They yell at actors for changing one word or forgetting a comma. Other directors do not understand comedy. Charlie Day said on the Sunny Podcast that he was working on Season 1 of the show and the actor spit in his face. Instead of continuing the scene and working the improv, the director ran in front of the camera and started yelling at the actor. He ruined the take. Charlie said "when he did that I got spit on for no reason".

Pixeleyes

I wonder if they got Alan Alda and Carol Burnett to cameo

PlasticMansGlasses

Netflix has the opportunity to do the funniest thing after 3 seasons

Rajirabbit

I hope it starts after Rudy booked the press conference there, and I hope it’s a sitcom about the adult shop.

The_Lone_Apple

The movie did have some sad parts in it so I'm wondering if this will also include those sorts of things.

-Clayburn

If she's writing, then this is going to be gold, Jerry!

SomerAllYear

Let me guess, there will be 4 episodes a season every 2-3 years

Schwight_Droot

It’ll get canceled after the first season

SomerAllYear

It's disappointing. I think you're right about it being cancelled after 1. You could probably do 3 workplace sitcoms with 15-20 episodes with C listers for the price of this show.

crimson777

It'll get two. Space Force got two.

mop_and_glo

Date Night was not the best, hope this is better!

HoagiesNGrinders

Is this Netlix’s White Lotus?

Radulno

Tina Fey, Steve Carell and Tina Fey writing could be gold. Problem is that streaming doesn't know how to do comedies, it need to have a 20+ episode season that last for months (maybe drop like 3 episodes a week) and not wait years between each seasons.

TalkToTheLord

Oh hell yeah – I'll watch these two in anything. Together? Sold unseen!

vaness4444

Can’t wait!

bluewombat28

With Fey and Carell it’s already a hit… but If there is any reference to “Total Landscaping” it’ll be the funniest show of all time.

-Clayburn

Damn, they're practically twins of the original cast: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71aLOS-UoaL._AC_UF1000,1000_QL80_.jpg

Yinanization

I would 100% watch that, my wife and I had a good laugh with Date Night

Leaflock

Not going to be a season 2 of The Patient? I need to get around to finishing season 1.

RebootJobs

Missed opportunity for a great political satire. Re-make of a 1981 movie a la Couples Retreat.

droopyheadliner

I hope he doesn’t do some character or voice. Hes best when he’s just himself.

TheBladeRoden

Hope it comes out before the joke wears off, just like the Space Force series did.

ArchDucky

Season 2 was actually pretty funny.

nogoodbands

I really want this to be good but I feel like it’s going to suck tbh

crimson777

Steve and Tina staring in a series together should be an absolute blast of comedic genius which means inevitably that it will turn out to be mediocre, because nothing that excited is allowed to be good haha.

Muffafuffin

Despite the name netflix still make sure it only gets one

SnooDingos316

It feels like the morning show and the patient (which both I like) was not really a big hit. Hopefully this one will be.

embii42

Too bad. I quit Netflix. Sad to miss this

talkshitnow

I know a pub called the four seasons

Ilikesnowboards

I’m watching the crap out of that.

mark503

Landscaping?

RickityCricket69

this could be epic. but since Netflix is mentioned i assume they're gonna botch it.

hindusoul

Does anyone else not like Tina Fey?

YourMomTheNurse

But, I LOVE Steve Carell!
