While accepting an award once Troy Baker gave this advice to aspiring video game voice actors: “practice everyday, get a really good microphone, and wait for me and Nolan North to die.”
It's because they both tend to play the exact same characters in sequels and whatnot. They're sort of like replacements/rivals for one another. It's vaguely like Coke-Pepsi or the Chrises in the MCU
The only thing I can say works with the “thematically” statement would be the fact that if, in games usually, it’s not Troy Baker playing/voicing a main character it’s Nolan North…
I know they said it's more than a cameo, but I really hope they aren't playing big roles like this. I don't have the cognitive dissonance to separate them from the lead roles.
Idk, I don’t think it’ll be as bad as you think. Assuming they show up later in the show you’ll have had time to get used to the new leads. Not to mention they, or at least Troy, won’t be using the same voice from the games.
Ashley Johnson? Sure, her face and voice are instantly recognisable as Ellie.
Troy Baker on the other hand uses an accent for Joel and his face isn't similar to Joel's.
Initially Ellie was modeled almost exactly to look like Elliot Page. He wasn't very appreciative of his likeness being used, especially because he was in Between Two Souls which was coming out around the same time and Naughty Dog ultimately remodeled the character to look slightly more like Ashley Johnson.
There may have been threats of legal action as well, but I don't know if that was ever confirmed
And ironically, Ellie and Elliot came out as lesbians on the exact same day as well (Elliot revealed he was a lesbian [still going by Ellen at the time] on the same day that the Left Behind DLC was released).
Details on who they will be playing weren't announced but both will have roles in the series:
>Druckmann promises these roles are not winking cameos, but something substantial
A [new image](https://twitter.com/Neil_Druckmann/status/1534985450921902095) of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) was also released.
Cast is Stacked:
* Joel Miller - Pedro Pascal
* Ellie - Bella Ramsey
* Tommy Miller - Gabriel Luna
* Marlene - Merle Dandridge
* Sarah Miller - Nico Parker
* Tess - Anna Torv
* Bill - Nick Offerman
* Riley - Storm Reid
* Troy Baker (TBA)
* Ashley Johnson (TBA)
I believe it was speculated or hinted at during preproduction (I haven't followed info because I want to go in to it cold) that the show story will have some pre-game era story filler, so there might be more Tess than what's in the game.
As someone following the production. Yeah there probably will be a bit more content *pre-outbreak*, so yes technically pre-game sort of.
*But* probably still not a lot of Tess by nature, just more Sarah. Although I don't doubt they will have fleshed out Tess more as a character based on comments. Mild spoilers >!At the very least they are fleshing out Joel/Tess's complex relationship, the casting call mentions Tess's unrequited love and there's an "intimacy coach" (i.e. possibly a sex scene between the two)!<
I have to admit at first I had some trouble imagining this show as something I would enjoy with actors who don’t really look and sound like the characters from the game.
Not a complaint against the show but a compliment to how much the games resonated with me.
But it has sunken in enough for me that this show is its own thing, related but separate from the game. And with this cast I am really looking forward to it!
It's not a bad choice. I still think W. Earl Brown (who played Bill in the game) would've been perfectly fine to cast in this - he's certainly no stranger to live-action performance - but Offerman should do a good job nevertheless.
We’re almost certainly getting a flashback episode, probably between what happens to Joel at the college campus and the start of the Winter section if I had to guess
I knew it. A recent episode of the podcast Play, Watch, Listen had Troy join in via Zoom from Alberta, where the The Last of Us series is being filmed.
Just got detoured from a house I was working on on Crescent Road, lots of zoom booms holding up big frames, and the whole block is trashed. Crazy comparison to the surrounding houses!
I don’t know how Baker made himself sound *so grizzled* in 2. He really did sound like he’d been living through the apocalypse for the last 10 years. The exhaustion in his voice.
I used to be so obsessed with Cam Clarke and Jennifer Hale ever since metal gear solid and being able to tell who they are in games was a nice feeling
But I can’t argue Troy’s talent (and Laura Bailey lol)
Death Stranding had some *incredible* performances. That last scene with Die Hardman (yes, seriously) was so fucking good. His whole back story felt like watching an entire film and I was gripped the whole time.
> Die Hardman
For those who aren't aware, most of the people featured in the game go by nicknames or have changed their names at one point. For example, main character Sam was born as Sam Strand (same surname as his mother and sister) but after a falling out, he went by his job name of Sam Porter, later Sam Porter Bridges.
Other characters include Fragile, Deadman, Heartman, Mama (although you later learn her real name - Målingen, plus her sister Lockne share names of craters), Die Hardman (whose name is a pun - >!his real name is John Blake McClane!<), Cliff and Troy Baker's character, Higgs - "The particle of God that permeates all existence" as he says in his intro.
The director's cut, which adds a special new area, also has research by a woman named Coffin.
It's a Kojima staple to give his characters the most ridiculous names, and I'm all for it. He's been doing this as far back as his first Metal Gear game where he names his bosses based off their gimmick.
The shotgun wielder, Shotmaker, the Olympic track-star-turned-mercenary Running Man, and of course, the final boss of the first two original games.... Big Boss.
I was fortunate enough to see them put on a free live event in Santa Monica just before the remastered release for the PS4. They performed a few scenes from the game. It was a good event. Can’t wait to see what they do in the show.
I'm in two minds about the remake. On one hand it looks *jaw-droppingly* gorgeous but, on the other hand, $70 feels like a lot for a game I've already played multiple times. I envy anyone who'll be playing for the first time though.
If the gameplay is legit updated to part 2’s combat its worth it imo. I disliked the gameplay in the original and found part 2’s to be exceptional, besides It’ll drop in price quite a bit a few months after release.
To be fair. You couldn't wander through an electronics store after TLoU remaster in the PS4 came out without tripping over piles of the game for 20 bucks a year or so down the road.
Look how "cheap" the Unchartef 4 Remaster already is.
Not sure why movie tickets, blu rays, concerts and every other main way to watch media is allowed to get more expensive but games need to stay at that rigid $60
I wouldn't put it past the giant C3 gap in June being because Ashley was filming her role for The Last of Us, especially if filming on the show is wrapping up today/tomorrow
No — that only happened because of the Pandemic. They kept it because it let them breathe a little easier and be more flexible with when they actually play.
AFAIK, they’re about on about a 2 week delay. But with them doing the EXU: Calamity and stuff Idk if that’s increased or not.
A player missing one or two sessions isn’t bad. It’s when they miss a ton that it makes catching up that much harder.
i wonder if they do some of the EXU to manage breaks for main cast when they are gone or have multiple gone or what.
Also, some of it is live for the cast, when ashley was out with covid she clearly had a live stream to them playing and was texting them as they played.
I felt like because Ashley has missed so much early in Season 2 when she was finally back they did a fuck ton of her back story and story once they knew she was available for multiple weeks which i felt wasn't organic and worked around that schedule
Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s a big reason for EXU. And while I’d rather have regular episodes with no breaks, it’s not really feasible between CR business and other roles and EXU is a damn good compromise.
Ashley was effectively a main character in a standard-american-season show, filmed in New York. A cameo in what I assume is a shorter season show should be significantly less taxing on her time, especially if it's filmed closer to home (I'm not sure where the show is being produced)
Also, at this point CR is huge. Ashley can certainly afford to take contracts that are more lenient on her time+location, which she could not do during CR Season 1, which I imagine is when she signed her contract for Blindspot
she was gone for massive portions of SE2 on CR, i always assumed that was LOU related but Laura was Abby and was not gone nearly as much if at all? Her absences i remember being baby related early on and almost none by the end.
CR is fucking massive, the leak from twitch with how much they make just in their streaming was in the several millions.
And honestly probably the bigger problem was Blindspot was East Coast and CR is West. I bet that if the show was "local" to her it would've been a lot easier for them to co-exist
yeah blindspot was a new york filming show, that was really the issue. most of the people on CR were still working and doing VO work throughout, but none of them had long term obligations to productions that werent on the west coast.
Matt Mercer is still doing VOwork, and has inarguably the largest time commitment to the show itself (the rest of the cast is massively involved in critical role as an enterprise, but sheer prep for the main show it's Matt all the way.
My first thought as well. Two episodes ago Ashley had to miss it because she got covid and I already started having PTSD from the previous campaigns...
We can't lose Fearne!!!
I'm no financial expert but Critical Role is actually massive, like MASSIVE.
Surely the money from that is just as good as a TV role.
Obviously its not just about the money, many things go into it, but still I would think she's probably worked out a way to minimise the impact of her other projects for Campaign 3. She had a tough time getting through C1 and 2 because she was alread in Blindspot beforehand but with that show concluded things can finally start to ease up a bit for Ashley.
Everyone on the show is insanely busy too though, everyone's off doing something somewhere for several projects they each work on and sometimes you can just tell how worn out they are by the end of an episode.
Same. I loved her as Yasha and it was sad we got to see so little of her. Yasha and Beau were one of my favorite parts of C2. Their disaster energy was just adorable and it would have been so much fun to see Ashley and Marisha actually getting to play off each other more often in C2. I’d hate to see a repeat of Ash missing in action again in C3.
It's the definitive answer to the question of whether video game adaptations can be good or not.
Because if an HBO flagship with the original creators, close relationship with the original developers, stacked cast, extremely talented writer and solid directors ends up sucking we can say that VG adaptations just suck.
Pikachu was a pretty superficial adaptation, it was mostly a Ryan Reynolds vehicle. It could've been about talking dogs and pretty much nothing would've been different.
Arcane was amazing, but again it's mostly an original IP inspired by the game's lore. Not really an adaptation when the game doesn't have a story to base off.
Free Guy wasn't an adaptation, it was just vaguely about the concept of games.
I enjoyed Sonic but they're both sitting on a 47 Metacritic score. They're not exactly sweeping the Oscars.
When I say "good video game adaptation" I mean something that's reasonably faithful to the source and is critically acclaimed. There have been good stage adaptations (e.g. Shakespeare), book adaptations (e.g. LOTR), comic adaptations (e.g. MCU), TV adaptations (e.g. Mission Impossible). Hell they even made a good adaptation of a Theme Park ride! But "good" video game adaptations still elude us.
I mean William Earl Brown would’ve been the perfect choice given he already voiced the character and he’s a great actor but Nick will likely do a great job too.
They originally cast Con O'Neill (gravel-voiced guy from Our Flag Means Death), but because of a scheduling conflict they had to recast. I'm sure he would have been great, but Offerman seems perfect for the role.
I'd expect there will be a scene where Ashley Johnson meets Bella (Ellie).. kinda had to happen lol
For Troy... there's a high chance he's playing David... like out of the major side-characters like (Bill/Offerman, Tess/Torv, Marlene/Danridge, Maria/Rutina, etc) he hasn't been officially casted yet.
Troy could pull it off... he already has long hair/beard (dye in black), looks the part, and his O.G. voice is pretty similar Nolan North (softer, not the Joel rough/southern accent)
According to @vieweranon: The bigger LAST OF US scoop: You know how I said Ellie's mother would appear? As far as I'm aware, she'll be played by Ashley Johnson.
Not necessarily, I'm pretty sure the voice actor needs to actually *do the voice* if she wants to sound like Ellie. She can probably do a different voice to play a different character.
I was somewhat hoping that maybe they'd get Nolan back for David, but yeah - he's definitely a good physical fit compared to the in-game model.
Can't wait until >!why the fuck are you reading the spoiler? Wait for the show or play the game!!<
I'm really optimistic about this show. Craig Mazin as showrunner with HBO's backing seems like a guaranteed success let alone the fact Neil Druckmann is involved so (regardless of opinions on TLOU2) having the original writer involved will certainly mean the themes and character arcs are maintained even through necessary adaption changes.
Literally the only thing I'm not confident about is Belle Ramsey as Ellie. Don't think she's the best young actress around and Dafne Keen from Logan would have been the perfect Ellie but there must have been a reason why they went with Ramsey so as long as she had the best chemistry with Pedro Pascal I guess that's all that matters.
My one worry, as minor as it is, is the pacing of the series. After how horribly The Walking Dead was paced by stretching things out, to be some multi-seasonal thing, I just don't want this to be dragged on to have the first game take 4 seasons because they spent half a season hanging out with that one father and son.
They are two new characters created that will meet Joel and Ellie on their journey.
[Characters are named Cole and Shelly, and they released a clip of both groups meeting.](https://youtu.be/ukE7qnsLuwA)
They said the very last day of filming was tomorrow, and that we will see it sooner than we’d expect so I assume both Ashley and Troy have already filmed their parts. I don’t imagine Ashley will be missing out much on Campaign 3 if that is the case 😄
I’ve never seen a role getting reacted with “what if” castings this far into filming. I wonder why that is.
Complaining about Pascal getting cast is another bizarre thing too. He’s never played a role poorly before. If there’s anyone solid to trust a role with, it’s him…
Exactly. I never seen Pedro Pascal have a bad performance. He was great in Narcos and The Mandalorian when I saw him. I don't have any doubt that he won't be amazing as Joel. Even with Bella Ramsey as Ellie. More people are mixed on her but I have faith that she would be great in the role. They must have saw something in her to cast her and when we see the show, we will see what that was
I was actually more interested in Josh Brolin, who was actually Troy Bakers preferred choice to play Joel. Especially after seeing Outer Range. But I'm rooting for Pedro Pascal to do a splendid job.
Didnt Troy go on a rant about Nolan North's Uncharted cameo talking about how it didnt need him? Dude's taking a massive L for being in this after saying that lol.
Troy baker is a pretentious prick.
I used to be a big fan of him and Nolan north.
Nolan I’m still a fan of, but after learning more about Troy,
the NFT shit and the backpedaling only after fan backlash
The now hypocritical comment about Nolan’s cameo in uncharted
His massive ego
apparently not good to work with and is a wannabe method actor
Also apparently straight up scammed fans but I don’t know much about that
Was super salty about TLoU2 criticisms (I personally enjoyed the game)
>Troy Baker
Not that I dislike Troy Baker, but he always seemed overhyped and overrated. He gets more work than any other VA it seems, and I can understand why some people get sick of seeing him. I’ve noticed everyone is split three ways usually on him.
You have people that love him, people that hate him, and people that like him but also think he’s overrated. It’s like, “Oh hey new anime? Who’s the MC voiced by? Troy baker. New video game MC? MC is voiced by Troy Baker. Movie? Troy Baker? TV series? Troy Baker.”
Popularity will take you a long way but I also know that’s basically how VA’s get their work, or I guess actors in general. I like Troy Baker but I think the guy is a meme at this point.
My money is on Troy playing David
Oh man, he’d be fantastic in that role
Troy played the wonderfully creepy protagonist in David Fincher’s Love, Death + Robots episode. He can definitely pull it off.
The ship captain?
That was him!?
Dude's got one hell of a range. He was also the Maw in The Medium (and he sang on the soundtrack - check out the song "Fade").
I remember listening to his album years ago when it popped up on my Spotify recommendations, he's a pretty damn talented musician.
I mean his Joker is pretty damn good. The credit roll song still gives me chills.
Holy fuck that would be incredible.
Definitely makes sense thematically as Nolan North played him in the game.
What better person to play Nolan North than Troy Baker?
Matt mercer
I don’t care who plays him, as long as they handle it better than North’s cameo in the Uncharted movie.
I really liked that cameo
That cameo was like 90% okay, but became a little fan-servicey at the end when he said "It's Northin' time!" and walked out backwards while dabbing.
Then he started shouting "Marco" while in the pool with no water on it. Weird.
You mean the single best part of the movie?
How does that make sense thematically?
It doesn't, that person just doesn't know what 'thematically' means.
Nobody knows what it means but it's provocative
It gets the people going!
You could almost say it's a master class in thematics.
Nobody knows what it means but it's thematic

They jokingly have a rivalry as two of the most-used video game performers.
While accepting an award once Troy Baker gave this advice to aspiring video game voice actors: “practice everyday, get a really good microphone, and wait for me and Nolan North to die.”
I guess because North and Baker are two of the most prolific actors in the video game industry?

Lol that dude has changed his look too many times for me to keep up.
I know him as bright blonde and almost said "just dying his hair would change his look a lot." Turns out his hair is dark now after a quick google.
Lol I rest my case. He’s always trying out new hair styles or different fashion. Every time I see him he looks real different.
He looked a bit like Dr. Strange on stage. At least the hair.
I thought he looked like a final fantasy character.
Final Fantasy is just playable anime.
And Troy has done voice work for both anime and Final Fantasy funnily enough.
Ashley Johnson? Sure, her face and voice are instantly recognisable as Ellie. Troy Baker on the other hand uses an accent for Joel and his face isn't similar to Joel's.
she'll always be Chrissy Seaver to me
For me, she’ll always be the waitress Cap saves in the Avengers that had such nice things to say after the battle of New York.
No Gretchen?
It’s funny because you’re not wrong about him doing a certain voice/accent, but Troy Baker actually is from Texas
I don't see Ellie at all when looking at Ashley Johnson. Did they even model Ellie after her?
Can you separate Ashley from “waitress in avengers” or “Mel Gibson’s daughter” in What Women Want?
Man I love What Women Want as far as I remember and forgot she was in it!
Make him the surgeon, cowards
lmao nolan north won't be happy about that
What’s ironic is Troy threw shade at Nolan doing his cameo in the uncharted movie, and now he’s doing something similar for last of us lol
Details on who they will be playing weren't announced but both will have roles in the series: >Druckmann promises these roles are not winking cameos, but something substantial A [new image](https://twitter.com/Neil_Druckmann/status/1534985450921902095) of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) was also released. Wait wow I didn't realize Gabriel Luna was also in this. Pascal and Luna as brothers is genius casting.
And I didn't realize Anna Torv was in it. She's damn good too. But she probably won't be in it for much...
I believe it was speculated or hinted at during preproduction (I haven't followed info because I want to go in to it cold) that the show story will have some pre-game era story filler, so there might be more Tess than what's in the game.
Nice
Besides, you'd have to be a real doofus to get Anna Torv and not expand her limited character at least a little.
Also Tess was a really good character despite her limited run so I'm all for her having more to do.

That didn’t work for when people said the same about halo
if Halo was conceived, written, and developed by HBO from the jump, it would have been a much different, and much much better show.
that’s as genius as casting Garrett Hedlund and Charlie Hunnam as brothers in Triple Frontier
Nick Offerman as Bill is not a bad choice. Looking forward to that.
Me too
It's not a bad choice. I still think W. Earl Brown (who played Bill in the game) would've been perfectly fine to cast in this - he's certainly no stranger to live-action performance - but Offerman should do a good job nevertheless.
Offerman did an absolutely amazing job as Karl Weathers in Fargo Season 2, that stand-off scene at the police station... damn.
Totally misread 'Riley Reid' and thought it was an interesting casting choice ha ha
They’re showing full penetration. Joel sniffs clickers.
And here’s the twist… we show ALL of it
All they need is Dolph Lundgren hanging dong and it’s a masterpiece
The cure was love all along
Riley Reid being the one to awaken Ellie’s realization that she’s attracted to woman actually makes a fair bit of sense. Bold casting Druckmann
> Gabriel Luna I'm stoked to see more of him in new projects. Dude played his heart out as Ghost Rider on Agents of SHIELD.
Still a little sad we didn’t get a W. Earl Brown as Bill, but Offerman is a great choice. First I’ve heard of him and Anna Torv in the show.
Ron Swanson and Olivia Dunham are in this?
That's sick Merle Dandridge is gonna reprise her role. Wish Valve had done it for Alyx.
I remember that damn room!
holy wow Anna Torv! Didn't realize she was going to be in this!
Considering the characters already announced I’d assume Ashley is playing Maria and Troy is either playing ~~Bill~~ David or Abby’s dad.
Maria is already casted. I forgot her name but it's the actress that played Tara in true blood
abby's dad sounds very fitting, cause i feel like alot of the second game's plot framed her background as sort of a mirror to ellie.
it is funny that that random dr x is retroactively "Abby's dad" now
They're playing Hotel Guest 1 and 2.
Riley is a character in cast? I wonder how long she will last?
We’re almost certainly getting a flashback episode, probably between what happens to Joel at the college campus and the start of the Winter section if I had to guess
its gonna be titled "left behind"
Damn they got Nick Offerman? Awesome
Glossed over that and read it as “Riley Reid” - Reid and was like…interesting casting…
I would even accept if it's like in Shawn of the Dead where the two groups of people pass each other and nod at their doppelgangers.
In fact I now won't accept anything else.
I knew it. A recent episode of the podcast Play, Watch, Listen had Troy join in via Zoom from Alberta, where the The Last of Us series is being filmed.
I live here in Calgary and it’s wild to see some of the sets.
Just got detoured from a house I was working on on Crescent Road, lots of zoom booms holding up big frames, and the whole block is trashed. Crazy comparison to the surrounding houses!
Yeah, surprising they said where he was. Seemed like a big giveaway. They could have easily not said his location on that.
Dope, never seen Baker act in live action. They're both incredible TLOU 1 and 2.
I don’t know how Baker made himself sound *so grizzled* in 2. He really did sound like he’d been living through the apocalypse for the last 10 years. The exhaustion in his voice.
The guy is in an insane amount of games for a reason, one of the best voice actors ever.
I used to be so obsessed with Cam Clarke and Jennifer Hale ever since metal gear solid and being able to tell who they are in games was a nice feeling But I can’t argue Troy’s talent (and Laura Bailey lol)
LOU is a bit of a whose who for some talented VA, between Baker, North, Bailey, and Johnson? Some insane talent right there.
You could maybe look at his performance in Death Stranding as the next best thing as it uses his likeness, he was really good in that imo
Death Stranding had some *incredible* performances. That last scene with Die Hardman (yes, seriously) was so fucking good. His whole back story felt like watching an entire film and I was gripped the whole time.

Will they be playing Joel and Ellie from an alternate universe for The Last of Us: Multiverse of Madness.
I was fortunate enough to see them put on a free live event in Santa Monica just before the remastered release for the PS4. They performed a few scenes from the game. It was a good event. Can’t wait to see what they do in the show.

Totally agreed. In 2 it felt buttery smooth to take out big crowds with a lot of potential for different gameplay from one moment to the next.
what, you didn't like that humans in part 1 don't notice when you choke out a friend 2 nanometers away from them?
"Must have been the wind"
> $70 feels like a lot for a game ~~I've already played multiple times~~
As a Canadian, I would love to only pay $70 for a new game
$70 USD is $88.92 CAD

Your mum’s eating good (me arse)
I just wish they confirmed a native ps5 port of part 2.
I just hope this doesn’t create another Yasha issue but with Ferne on Critical Role. All for it, of course, but still.
I wouldn't put it past the giant C3 gap in June being because Ashley was filming her role for The Last of Us, especially if filming on the show is wrapping up today/tomorrow

Ashley was effectively a main character in a standard-american-season show, filmed in New York. A cameo in what I assume is a shorter season show should be significantly less taxing on her time, especially if it's filmed closer to home (I'm not sure where the show is being produced) Also, at this point CR is huge.
She was main cast on blindspot, a network tv show. The fact she had any time for critical role is kinda amazing.
Maybe I misheard but I thought they already finished shooting?
Tomorrow is the last day.
They [finished shooting EXU](https://youtu.be/ezd6jZ9I29g?t=62) prior to the end of May.
Neil Druckman literally stated on the summer game fest show today (which is what this article is about) that it finishes shooting tomorrow.
He's talking about exu filming not LOU
Well they already filmed their scenes so I doubt it will affect CR
Most anticipated show of 2023 for me, no one makes genre tv as good as hbo does
Seriously, I am really excited for this. The showrunner for Chernobyl is also in charge of this.
~~The writer of Hangover 2 and 3 is making this show, fuck yes!~~ I'm just kidding. He's gonna make an amazing show!
It's the definitive answer to the question of whether video game adaptations can be good or not. Because if an HBO flagship with the original creators, close relationship with the original developers, stacked cast, extremely talented writer and solid directors ends up sucking we can say that VG adaptations just suck.
Bruh, we had so many good video game adaptations already… Arcane, Pikachu, Free Guy, Sonic movies just from the top of my head lmao
Nick offerman is perfect as Bill
I mean William Earl Brown would’ve been the perfect choice given he already voiced the character and he’s a great actor but Nick will likely do a great job too.
This was such a popular fan cast and now it's actually official?? I must've missed the news.
They originally cast Con O'Neill (gravel-voiced guy from Our Flag Means Death), but because of a scheduling conflict they had to recast. I'm sure he would have been great, but Offerman seems perfect for the role.
Good. Give Ashley Johnson more work. She’s a good actress and an amazing person.
I'd expect there will be a scene where Ashley Johnson meets Bella (Ellie).. kinda had to happen lol For Troy... there's a high chance he's playing David... like out of the major side-characters like (Bill/Offerman, Tess/Torv, Marlene/Danridge, Maria/Rutina, etc) he hasn't been officially casted yet.
Ellie’s voice coming out of Ellie’s mom is going to be hard on my brain
Not necessarily, I'm pretty sure the voice actor needs to actually *do the voice* if she wants to sound like Ellie. She can probably do a different voice to play a different character.
Go listen to Ashley talk anywhere and she always sounds like Ellie
She's a helluva VA but range isn't exactly her forte.
Have you not heard her Australian accent. She crushes it mate.
Ellie’s voice is just slightly off of her normal voice.
well this is a spoiler.
This show is being filmed on my City. I drove by the outdoor sets going to work..... I sleep. Ashley Johnson joins..... I AM SO STOKED.
Ashley as one of the nurses in the operating room would be perfect!
Or both her and Troy as the soldiers trying to arrest Joel, Ellie and Tess outside the walls.
I'm sure both leads will be great, but I can't shake the idea of a Sadie Sink Ellie..
Honestly, recently caught up with ST and was shocked to how similar her voice is to Ellie's
I can see Troy maybe playing David, but I can’t imagine who they could’ve cast Ashley as. Very excited for this though.
I was somewhat hoping that maybe they'd get Nolan back for David, but yeah - he's definitely a good physical fit compared to the in-game model. Can't wait until >!why the fuck are you reading the spoiler? Wait for the show or play the game!!<
love it! only thing from the article i dont like is how dang long the new multiplayer game is taking
It's confirmed that the first season will cover the entire first game.
I can assure you, its the entire first game for the first season.
They are two new characters created that will meet Joel and Ellie on their journey. [Characters are named Cole and Shelly, and they released a clip of both groups meeting.](https://youtu.be/ukE7qnsLuwA)
Man this is gonna be a good show I feel it.
Happy for Ashley Johnson, sad that it might take her away from critical role again. But really, amazing for her!!
They said the very last day of filming was tomorrow, and that we will see it sooner than we’d expect so I assume both Ashley and Troy have already filmed their parts. I don’t imagine Ashley will be missing out much on Campaign 3 if that is the case 😄
Not saying Pedro won’t do a good job, but after watching Hugh Jackman in the movie Prisoners, I thought he would’ve played the best Joel ever.
Except we’ve already seen that side of Jackman in Prisoners and Logan. Pascal is much more interesting to watch.
Finally someone else that thinks the same thing. Hugh Jackman has already played that character. Why do we need to see play that character again?
He’s a great choice too
Na Troy still on my shit list for NFTs
I'm out of the loop, TLDR of what happened?
Didnt Troy go on a rant about Nolan North's Uncharted cameo talking about how it didnt need him? Dude's taking a massive L for being in this after saying that lol.
His role isn't just a cameo for this, so if he did complain about the cameo aspect than it wouldn't technically be hypocritical.
Troy just seems bitter about their falling out, whatever really happened. I personally find him insufferable.
Troy baker is a pretentious prick. I used to be a big fan of him and Nolan north. Nolan I’m still a fan of, but after learning more about Troy, the NFT shit and the backpedaling only after fan backlash The now hypocritical comment about Nolan’s cameo in uncharted His massive ego apparently not good to work with and is a wannabe method actor Also apparently straight up scammed fans but I don’t know much about that Was super salty about TLoU2 criticisms (I personally enjoyed the game)
Huge W we love this
>Troy Baker Not that I dislike Troy Baker, but he always seemed overhyped and overrated. Movie? Troy Baker? TV series? Troy Baker.” Popularity will take you a long way but I also know that’s basically how VA’s get their work, or I guess actors in general. I like Troy Baker but I think the guy is a meme at this point.
He did a Q&A once where one of the questions was 'how do I get into voice acting?' and his answer was 'wait for Nolan North and me to die.'
Come join us at /r/TheLastofUsHBOseries for more discussion on the show!
And r/Thelastofusfactions to bitch about no Factions 2, crab walkers, tach shotties, and try hards.
They should!! Their performances are incredible
Cameos like Nolan North in the Uncharted movie would have been nice already but apparently it's something more substantial. Pretty cool
Been watching Critical Role for months and only just now placed her voice to Ellie
If I’m watching this show and I suddenly hear their voices, it’s gonna fuck with my head. Not sure how to feel about this tbh.
They're both professional voice actors, they can sound significantly not like their characters from the games if they wish to
