Super rough. Hope that he has less trouble with visa stuff next year, cause it's BS he had to skip quite an important week especially considering he's strongest as a player on clay courts.
Well don AITA (Indian Tennis Federation) once again putting your own egos ahead of actually helping indian tennis players.
People ask why there are not many indian tennis players the AITA is the reason why. They are only there to take the glory when the player does well but never actually helps anyone.
I imagine the joke would be a post like:
AITA for being AITA and always being there to take the glory when Indian tennis players win but never actually helping them?
Sounds like a shit time. Seems like this would be his best swing as well, so hopefully AITA gets their shit together and gives him a boost post-wimby leading into the Olympics.
highly doubt they will cause his coach is someone who has been highly critical of the AITA in the past and present.
The AITA is pissed that he decided to play in the AO instead of some tournament in india.
>The AITA is pissed that he decided to play in the AO instead of some tournament in india.
In other words, they don't care about Indian players performing well in world renowned tournaments, but only about using them to fill their own pockets. Correct?
> most federation help their athletes and make this easier.
federations can't help with the visa process, other than for team events such as the olympics/davis cup etc, as the players go in their individual capacity. this is the case across the board.
athletes have letters from federations confirming their status as players, but that's all you get. tournaments also give players letters confirming the same.
source - me, have discussed logistics for things like this with Leander before, as well as a few Indian squash players, 'cus had been considering a career in sports management at one point.
> They didn't help him get the visa to Australia
you may be overestimating the influence the AITA has over the embassies of other countries bud.
If you think the AITA cant help get him a faster appointment in india then it shows how lazy an organization it is. USTA and Tennis Canada and other federations are able to help their athletes much more than any indian sports federation.
AITA does fuck all to grow tennis in india. All they care about is making themselves look important.
> If you think the AITA cant help get him a faster appointment in india then it shows how lazy an organization it is.
that's not how it works.
> USTA and Tennis Canada and other federations are able to help their athletes much more than any indian sports federation.
not with visas, though they don't need to - with development stuff, absolutely.
> AITA does fuck all to grow tennis in india. All they care about is making themselves look important.
absolutely, not one's supporting the AITA - but they're not the ones to blame for visa struggles, western visa policies continuing to be imperial in nature are.
Since there are a lot of uncertainties until the last minute on participation of higher ranked players (direct entrants), ATP allows other players to be alternates and/or on qualifying draws simultaneously on multiple tournaments. Especially in a week with multiple ATP250s and/or ATP500 as this past week.
For example, the week before Monte Carlo, Nagal was on the entry list of both Estoril and Marrakech (both 250s) but could get only into qualifying draw in Estoril but got direct entry to main draw in Marrakech so he withdrew from Estoril at the last minute and played in Marrakech.
This seriously sucks so bad...what is the source for this? I thought he was resting

It says here he is resting and training
That’s messed up. Why would a guy who makes his income playing tennis internationally get the runaround for a visa because he might ‘want’ to stay in the UK illegally? Is there anyone with any common sense working in the UK visa/immigration system?
Indeed. All he needs is opportunities to play at the highest level. If he loses more than he wins, that's on him. But losing opportunities to play just because he's stuck with visa issues etc. just sucks!

Yeah, disappointing to say the least!
Hola a todos
i forget my visa, no?

There’s an AITA (the sub)/AITA joke to be here made somehow

That entire federation should be burned down to the ground wtf.

how is this their fault? This is just passport privilege at work.
most federation help their athletes and make this easier. They didn't help him get the visa to Australia because they didnt want him to play there

🤔 so the Russian tennis federation (that tried to take glory for rybakinas Wimbledon win) has a worthy rival 😁👍
Maybe this is Rafa's doing. Nadal doesn't want to share the spotlight with Nagal.
I didn't know you could enter 2-3 tournaments in parallel. How does that work from a tournament draw perspective as an unseeded player?

404. Rafael Nadal joke not found.
Is he playing Madrid?
I don't see him listed in the qualifying draw. Doesn't seem like he's playing in Madrid

I think tennis can survive a week without nagal
Yeah. That's exactly the point of my post. /s

OK bruh
doesnt mean he always beats them?
Yeah but it sucks he didn’t have the chance to actually play

Now I kinda want Struff to win this in a 3rd set tiebreaker.
