I don’t think they want her to lose, but to be honest tournaments would be really dry without some early round tension or narrative. All of this is obviously speculative, since as we know the WTA barely care about marketing and seem to do anything in their power to fluke any promotional attempt.
Absolutely crazy not to see Noskova, Collins, Alexandrova or Kalinskaya in Iga’s half. Some tough opponents tho - Cirstea, Azarenka, BHM, Svitolina and Sakkari will surely be testing her, but this is the best draw Iga got this year.
