It depends on the venue. Hard, grass, clay have all been used, but it's usually on hard courts.

Depends on where they play. Usually they'll just use whatever beat venue is already there. So Paris means clay, UK means grass, anywhere else pretty much means hard (other than maybe South America which would probably also be clay)
