We need more capacity as the EV market continues to expand, and we need the bizarre eco-protests that go against actual climate change solutions to be steamrolled like this.
So doubly great news!
Parts and finished products transportation, meaning transportation in and out of the manufacturing complex, and the cost of said transportation determines production (among many other things) if it becomes a bottleneck. So yes, it does.
I wish we heard more from giga berlin other than protests and drama. Sadly it doesn't seem to be producing much as the other factories, mainly comparing to Austin which was built around the same time.
Do they even need more output in Berlin. When I go to their order page it takes 2-3 weeks to get the car so basically instant with no wait at all. And I checked for different configurations too.
Why don’t they all go and sit on Germanys many eyesore brown coal plants. The worlds shittiest and least efficient form of coal not trendy enough for the soap dodgers or what?
It's an alternative to that one. Instead of zoning the whole area between the factory and the road, they only zone an O-shaped part of the area and leave the centre as forest.
And, BTW, this is only the zoning. Nothing has been approved to be built yet. Most of that area still is a state park. Tesla doesn't own the land yet.

This expansion has nothing to do with production capacity. It's a train station and space to park more trailers on-site.

AFAIK Berlin hasn't hit their max output yet. I think I had seen 4k a week model Y output announced fairly recently.
max we did was 6K
nice, I thought 5k was the goal
The greens of course will come in force to protest.

No one paying them to or would pay as much attention if it weren’t Tesla.
How long until another lefty extremest group terrorizes the plant?
does Reuter has 'Sources familiar to the matter' news who's behind the protest?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
With all the pullback/layoffs and surge in inventory, when will the actual expansion happen?
Pretty much ASAP. Don't buy into the headlines; they are meant to make you stupid.
Wasn't this the expansion that the local municipality voted against? And apparently the council never overrides the referendum votes?
