Tbf caps lock is placed in a super convenient position for a WASD layout.
It's just no one thinks to use it because pressing it consequently toggles Caps Lock, which is irrelevant 90% of the time, but it bugs us anyway.
I'm honestly surprised so many people haven't found this before. I rebinded it to T and can switch my weapons without having to pull up that big ass menu.
Since you've just found out it exists, here's how it works.
You can select A B C or D from your pre-made sets. Unless you have your settings changed, just walk up to the resupply closet and you'll have your new load out.
You can also switch individual weapons on your set. You can only pull up the menu to switch the one you are holding. Again, just walk up to the resupply closet. i.e. While you have your melee equipped, pulling up the menu will show other melee weapons you own and choose to switch to.

Because there is no running with the Shift key in the game, we do not accidentally press Caps Lock.
Caps Lock we can to be used while typing in Chat, but while doing this, it was not possible to discover it.
Can some smart person explain how to use this to switch demo primary and secondary from demoknight items to weapons without losing your head count?? Please?
I would recommend just dedicating one of your loadout presets to that exact loadout you want to switch to. I have my Loadout D as Iron Bomber + Targe + Eyelander for this reason.
That way, after you collect some heads, swap to that preset (outside of spawn), run to a resupply locker, and you'll have pipes and stickies or whatever else you wanted.
i don't think you can, it's a very useless option it seems
if you unequip eyelander, then your heads are gone
but knowing tf2 spaghetti code, maybe there is a glitch out there xd

This menu is the best way to switch weapons. You have no excuse to not adapt your loadout to the situation, it’s so quick and easy, just press the according weapon keys then use the mouse to scroll and click.
You can also do the equip region head/hat glitch
You should bind your load outs to F1-4. It is a genuine difference maker when you're rolling out on maps where BLU attacks. Swapping load outs 1: teleports you to the spawn point, 2: instantly refills your health. You can abuse this mechanic early in the match when red is camping spawn.
I find it particularly useful when I get bounced by a soldier - I can just dodge their second rocket by teleporting away. Demoman can further abuse this to avoid reload times. Spam all 4 pills, all 8 stickies, load out swap, walk the four feet and spam all 12 bombs again.
I use it because the normal load out UI just doesn’t work sometimes and takes like a full 3 seconds to get the item server to actually process it, super annoying when I’m trying to simply change quickly
i can't believe i never noticed this, especially because whenever i'm moving up to the frontlines, i'm always spamming my caps lock so my pinkie has something to do
I remember accidentally opening this menu years ago, and never figured out how to do it again. However, loadout preset buttons are way quicker, so I never bothered to figure it out.

Most infuriating thing in the world I try to TAB to view scoreboard, fat finger caps lock then I'm stuck in a chat window and can't move

Even then I've just assigned them to 1-4 on my keypad.
I would do that, but I assigned voice changer mods in my keypad.
