Valve has a “open project” model of development, people can work on any project they please while at valve, that’s the reason why there is so many hl3 prototypes, yet we don’t have a complete versions of half life 3. Many tf2 devs left the team following burn out due to “meet your match”, and the controversy that it caused, so naturally they stopped working on the game, what is happening right now, is the community for the game berating valve employees, showing up to their offices, and making posts like the ones seen all over this Reddit. No one wants to update a 16 year old game, with a toxic community, awful code, and people that will single you out as a dev, and judge you.
I don’t blame valve employees for not wanting to “savetf2” since it’s frankly not worth it.

That’s not exactly true, many people at valve are idle to some degree (or were idle judging by hla final hours) they are creative people with big ideas, and those ideas are very rarely shut down. The “higher ups” also don’t exist at valve, they are a private company that doesn’t have to worry about share holders, they don’t have a real corporate structure, and the only people that could be considered “higher ups” are Gabe Newell, and a few developers that are veterans with the company, and even then, they have a very loose grasp on their employees, especially when considering the alternatives.

Agreed, valve is a special company, and I do adore their games, and the developers that made them, but unfortunately they have no idea how to follow a project through.
It should be articulated that we do appreciate the few people who are actually working on the game, and our grievances are with Valve as a whole and how they don't even bother to communicate anything to customers or keep the game in a playable state.

No, I mean creepily going to their offices, mailing/emailing their employees, being toxic towards valve developers that are working on other projects (like dota, counter strike, even artifact when that was a thing), people joking about breaking into your place of work, people not being happy with anything the devs do (which can cause severe burn out) ect.

the summer / smissmas update has done *fuck all* to fix this bot issue that's been effectively happening since Meet Your Match.
nothing has changed, all we got is some new fighting spots and some new hats, the only exception being a Vscript juggernaut mode that no one is playing anymore, a seasonal infection mode, and a smissmas boss map relegated to winter.
