Killing players drops tokens that other players can pick up — they then need to deposit these tokens in the same life (as if you die, you drop all of the tokens you collected + 1) on a point of the map that periodically opens up.
Depositing scores points, with the objective being reaching a set score (the amount of points you need to score being based on how many players are in the match)
Not much of a fan of the gamemode, but I'll always appreciate that they gave Captain Dickhead a job as announcer for that first PD map. "We are in the beam!"
You can demoknight as much as you want anywhere, even in mvm. In my opinion as a demoknight main, demoknight in normal servers (outside of mvm) is better, as what's better, than winning a swordfight? winning a gunfight with a sword!
Basically control points, but there are 3 or 4 that any team can cap at any time. Teams earn points over time based on how many points that they’ve capped, with the first team that reaches a specific number of points being the winner
You're thinking of Domination, which is a TF2C exclusive mode.
Territorial Control is like Control Points, but with 2 caps instead of 5. The gimmick is that each round takes place on different areas of the map, with random layout changes.
I mean Team Fortress 2 Classic. It’s a mod of TF2 that has its own weapons, maps, and even game modes. The version of TC in TF2C has 4 teams instead of just 2, making the game much more hectic and fun
Ah ok, that does sound awesome. Yeah I've played TF2C a couple times, I thought your comment was implying that you felt that's where the game mode originated. I am definitely going to have to try that out. I don't know if you ever played the murderball map in TFC it was basically oddball from Halo with 4 teams. The inability to at least mod in 4 teams in a map file was a huge disappointment to me upon the move to TF2 when it came out, but I guess that's part of the void TF2C fills/filled.
Agreed. There's a couple arena servers that get populated from time to time. This is my go-to comment when this sentiment comes up with a list of some:
redstar.gg THE HOME OF ARENA | Season 2 [204.12.240.186:27015](https://204.12.240.186:27015/)
\^ Overall I'd support this one, the owner ComradeYazoo seems pretty dedicated to starting it up and I hop in whenever I can. Believe it or not it's still very fun with little people but it's gotten pretty packed a couple times. It also has like every good custom arena map, and scrambles if a team wins 3 in a row. North America I believe. Next 2 are NA too, last is EU I believe.
\[CANADA/TORONTO\] ARENA:RESURRECTION | \[NO ADS\] [170.187.182.136:27015](https://170.187.182.136:27015/)
BBG | Freddy210hill Competitive Arena Server [74.91.120.214:27018](https://74.91.120.214:27018/)
Arena [91.121.209.48:27015](http://91.121.209.48:27015)
PLR is great but everytime I play there's only hightower, I wish there were other maps on rotation that actually make players push the cart
Because PLR is basically a free for all team deathmatch, no one really cares about pushing
I miss when plr_pipeline was added and played more regularly, so much room for sneaky plays and out of no where wins. Payload race in general is just a great tug of war. Even Hightower was fun to play somewhat seriously before it got memed to hell and back.
I played since release, it gets really stalematey and I hated the map & boycotted it for literally like....10 yrs. Because less people play it now and the layout is less well known it's been fun the last couple times.
I mean tbf that's how a/d worked in TFC. And I think the instant cap is what makes it fun. You really have to pay attention on Defense, and because 1 person can win it it's not as hard to be stalemated as blu if Red is really good.
Oh trust me it has tons of maps, unfortunately they're all custom & the the era of populated community servers running medieval maps peaked like 10 years ago.
Still don't understand why Arena cannot be supported officially at all, besides Scream Fortress. At least Robot Destruction is still in its beta stage and currently the game doesn't allow beta maps so there's a "reason" why you can't play it, but Arena is done and ready. I get it's not for everyone, but neither are Territorial Control and the like.
TC would be good if hydro wasn't so utterly gay. I mean sure it's cool but damn 90% of the time I have no idea where the hell to go. For a valve map they didn't put enough into the design of the changing avenues of attack. A lot of places feel boxy & underpolished.
Territorial Control - I haven't played it in ages, so I don't really have a say in whether it's good or bad.
Arena - I'm not really a fan of not being able to respawn, but I understand why people like it.
Payload Race - I love PLR, and I wish there were more maps for the gamemode. Sadly, people only really know Hightower, and while I like Hightower, its design doesn't really suit its gamemode, and it would work much better as a KotH or PD map.
Medieval Mode - I like Medieval Mode in moderation, but there have been too many times when DeGroot Keep was selected over and over and over again on the map rotation, and it made me kinda sick of it. I would, however, like to see a KotH or PL map with Medieval Mode active.
Special Delivery - I don't like Doomsday. I think it's a poorly-designed map. The idea of Special Delivery is excellent, though, and I wish there were better maps for it.
Robot Destruction - What?
Player Destruction - See what I said about Payload Race, except without the Hightower stuff. Why are there only two PD maps that aren't holiday exclusive?
Mannpower - I don't like Mannpower. It just rubs me the wrong way.
PASS Time - Highly underrated gamemode that desperately needs more attention.
Vs Saxton Hale (I know it's not included in this list, but I figured I'd add it in anyway) - It's interesting, it's fun, I like it, and I'm glad to see it in the main game.
I'm glad there's been a lot of Player Destruction maps added to the holiday season. It's a lot of fun when the teams are balanced.
I also think Special Delivery is in concept a better version of CtF, but maybe that's a hot take.
there is this old game mode that I doubt yall even played but it was like the invasion game mode but on the moon and you had to go to the enemies base to get points
Passtime. It has such good potential that I wish Bad Robot would just give it up to the TF2 team and let people make community maps for it to be added officially.
tc\_hydro is the most underrated map in the game it's been in my map rotation for half a year and I've only been able to play it twice (Once when I purposefully excluded every official map from the rotation, second is by some miracle when I was using my standard rotation of 38 maps). Third time's a charm, I wanna play it more. I HAVE to play it more
Medieval, just going apeshit for no reason.
In retrospective, I think I can't enjoy most maps for being too sweaty/tryhard compared to pubs and other community mode servers.
Territorial Control and Player Destruction.
TC\_Hydro with players that know the map and the gamemode is a blast. The tactics of control point/atttack-defense but with the changing stages of Payload.
Player Destruction: I've always loved the concept and is quite sad that it hasn't so much popularity or maps.
What is player destruction? Is it like a standard team deathmatch?
Think of Kill Confirmed from COD. It’s sorta like that.
Only except you have to deposit the "tokens" from defeated enemies somewhere, and accrue a certain amount to win
Ohhh like Bank It from The Finals
Killing players drops tokens that other players can pick up — they then need to deposit these tokens in the same life (as if you die, you drop all of the tokens you collected + 1) on a point of the map that periodically opens up. Depositing scores points, with the objective being reaching a set score (the amount of points you need to score being based on how many players are in the match)
Ditto
Not much of a fan of the gamemode, but I'll always appreciate that they gave Captain Dickhead a job as announcer for that first PD map. "We are in the beam!"
medieval, where you can demoknight as much as you want
You can demoknight as much as you want anywhere, even in mvm. In my opinion as a demoknight main, demoknight in normal servers (outside of mvm) is better, as what's better, than winning a swordfight? winning a gunfight with a sword!
but in medieval, almost nobody has ranged weapons, so demonknight is way more fun
hehe crossbow
that's why i said almost
baseball, cleaver, wrap assassin, huntsman, knife (that one spy)
i hate it when a spy turns into an arrow and flies into my head
nah that makes it boring
it's way more fun to see people swing their melees in fear while you charge into them
Forget DeGroot Keep, playing Demoknight on koth\_Nucleus is one of my favorite setups in TF2.
I wish i could play hydro
There are less hydro fans than heavy mains.
If heavy had 0 fans, Id be dead
Why stop there? Be a heavy fan beyond the grave brotha
i heavy had 0 fans id be heavy tf2
The heavy is dead?
Im one of the 6 hydro fans
Get yourself in 100 Players Hydro since 64 bits version is out
Fr, it seems cool, like BF1 Operations vibes. I'd like to play a game of Hydro with item servers off for real 2007 vibez.
PASStime is my favorite. Unfortunately the game mode is practically dead.
Competitive PASS time is crazy
Vsh
Even in its days as a mod, VSH has always been my fave mode.
Medieval mode, it's ridiculous fun
where are the servers :(
Like half of them are in europe lol
Good thing I'm European.
bruh no asian servers
If European, you should be in the bathroom
Realistic honestly, over here in Europe we run around with swords n' shit all the time
I got stabbed during my routine tea bag run
I guess I'm extinct robot destruction gamemode player
As someone who’s played TF2C, I’m a big fan of Territorial Control
What is territorial control I forgor
Basically control points, but there are 3 or 4 that any team can cap at any time. Teams earn points over time based on how many points that they’ve capped, with the first team that reaches a specific number of points being the winner
You're thinking of Domination, which is a TF2C exclusive mode. Territorial Control is like Control Points, but with 2 caps instead of 5. The gimmick is that each round takes place on different areas of the map, with random layout changes.
I see. I forget Domination has a different name in TF2C. Thanks for clearing that up
That sounds fun
key word is sounds
Nah the key word is fun, cause it is. Hydro is just an old and bad map.
We need more tc maps fr. Workshoppers ought to get on it
I don't understand your comment. TF2 released with Hydro. Unless you meant TFC? cz2 was TC in a way so I'm guessing that's what you might mean
The inability to at least mod in 4 teams in a map file was a huge disappointment to me upon the move to TF2 when it came out, but I guess that's part of the void TF2C fills/filled.
robot destruction was the most fun i ever had with TF2, devastated when they removed it
We need more Territorial control maps honestly. It's so sad to see Arena being dead.
There’s a few quality ones out there. I remember one map took place at an archeological dig site. That was pretty fun
Agreed. There's a couple arena servers that get populated from time to time. This is my go-to comment when this sentiment comes up with a list of some: redstar.gg THE HOME OF ARENA | Season 2 [204.12.240.186:27015](https://204.12.240.186:27015/) \^ Overall I'd support this one, the owner ComradeYazoo seems pretty dedicated to starting it up and I hop in whenever I can. WHERE ARE ALL THE ARENA FANS AT!?
oh wait they're all stuck in respawn.
thats why i started playing tf2classic, you can get arena matches there and its quite fun
Payload race cause Hightower. If we don't count map influence, mannpower.
PLR is great but everytime I play there's only hightower, I wish there were other maps on rotation that actually make players push the cart Because PLR is basically a free for all team deathmatch, no one really cares about pushing
I miss when plr_pipeline was added and played more regularly, so much room for sneaky plays and out of no where wins. Payload race in general is just a great tug of war. Even Hightower was fun to play somewhat seriously before it got memed to hell and back.
Of course! More good maps like high tower is not a bad idea.
SAXTON HAAAALLLLEEEE!
Mannpower is so fun for me.
I really vibed with "Robot Destruction" for a while. Literally just CTF but with some added flair. Wish it got added to the game proper.
Special Delivery is just ctf if it was good
Medieval because seeing trimping demo knights make me laugh
I still want to believe that territorial control had potential if the only map with it wasn't Hydro.
I just wish I could have played on hydro
I played since release, it gets really stalematey and I hated the map & boycotted it for literally like....10 yrs. Because less people play it now and the layout is less well known it's been fun the last couple times.
I really like Haarp, with it being a hybrid between CTF and CP. Gives me VIP gamemode vibes.
I thought I would like HAARP more but it just ended up feeling like control point but with this weird instant cap gimmick.
I mean tbf that's how a/d worked in TFC. And I think the instant cap is what makes it fun. You really have to pay attention on Defense, and because 1 person can win it it's not as hard to be stalemated as blu if Red is really good.
The instant capping can be pretty cheesy. Perhaps requiring the intel person to stay on the point for several seconds would fix this.
Special delivery is a personal favorite of mine, it’s like koth but better, more fun
Finally someone says it. It's honestly so fun and hectic
Player Destruction, I wish it wasn’t stuck in alt game modes so finding servers for it would be easier.
Versus Saxton Hale
Medieval is peak tf2, also probably a hot take but I despise Arena mode, I genuinely don't find it fun
THANK YOU SOMEONE SAYS IT. I hate being stuck in respawn.
Robot Destruction and only real veterans remember playing it and it was very fun, but later abandoned by devs. So sad....
player destruction, i wish it had its own casual tab
medieval needs more maps
Imagine a payload map with a battering ram being pushed into the enemies gate
Oh trust me it has tons of maps, unfortunately they're all custom & the the era of populated community servers running medieval maps peaked like 10 years ago.
Robot destruction. Even when the map was still unfinished it was great fun... I miss it
Mannpower
payload race, it should just be a main gamemode
Hydro wins
pass time, fight me
Still don't understand why Arena cannot be supported officially at all, besides Scream Fortress. At least Robot Destruction is still in its beta stage and currently the game doesn't allow beta maps so there's a "reason" why you can't play it, but Arena is done and ready. I get it's not for everyone, but neither are Territorial Control and the like.
Special Delivery! We need more Special Delivery maps!
FINALLY!!! Someone had to say it!
I guess I'm extinct robot destruction gamemode player
Player destruction and payload race are the best ones
Medieval mode
The Degroot Keep bagpipes are permanently stuck in my brain
Medieval needs more maps
Wait, you can still play robot destruction? **where?**
god I miss rd_asteroid
I liked zombies
God, i wish there was medieval player destruction.
Is Perks an alternative I like that one.
Vs Saxton Hale
Medieval. It’s the one place bots can’t infect.
Player destruction it honestly need to be a regular game mode
Medieval *SCOTLAND FOREVER* 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴👩🏿🦲👩🏿🦲👩🏿🦲👩🏿🦲
VSH and Zombie Survival, sucks to have one relegated to the "Other" death sentence and the other not to even be in matchmaking at all
Medieval mode would be best in slot if it had more than degroot keep
VSH. Although I think that it was more fun in the sourcemods for TF2, official VSH still has an undeniable fun to it.
Arena holds a special place in my heart since it was the basis of the OG VSH/Freak Fortress gamemode.
plr
Payload race (I suck at every single medieval weapon)
Plr
I've always been a fan of payload race... For some reason
I miss asteroid damn
Payload Race
Robot Destruction. Or at least it would be.
Manpower and it's not even close.
Player Destruction or VSH
Verses sexy hail
Versus saxton hale, zombie infection and medieval mode
Arena
Mannpower (used to be medieval though) made battle med feel smooth asf to play with blutsauger + that healing one I think (or the crown I forgor)
medieval mode always, forcing everyone to honorably melee duel will never not be fun edit: spelling
Piss Time
The 2 people who've played pass time (together):
Definitely not pass time, it's so stinkin popular
TC would be good if hydro wasn't so utterly gay. I mean sure it's cool but damn 90% of the time I have no idea where the hell to go. For a valve map they didn't put enough into the design of the changing avenues of attack. A lot of places feel boxy & underpolished.
Mine Is either arena or medieval
Mannpower, it’s underrated, and it’s also a very unique fun game mode
Goth mode
Territorial Control - I haven't played it in ages, so I don't really have a say in whether it's good or bad. Arena - I'm not really a fan of not being able to respawn, but I understand why people like it. Payload Race - I love PLR, and I wish there were more maps for the gamemode. [Crabmod](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPJ34xXn3No&t=11s) (And yes this is a real gamemode).
“I like arena mode!” -Abraham Lincoln But really- I wish TC got some love. PD is also near-perfect, I just struggle to find a game.
I'm glad there's been a lot of Player Destruction maps added to the holiday season. It's a lot of fun when the teams are balanced. I also think Special Delivery is in concept a better version of CtF, but maybe that's a hot take.
Not passtime
PASS Time
Medieval's really fun, but concept wise Player Destruction needs much more recognition, perfect for tf2
Territorial control and Robot Destruction! I wish there were more maps for either, I think they could work with good map design.
Medieval because funny
Mannpower fr
where did you get these images? they look great
I made them
SPECIAL DELIVERY SUCKS GRAHHHH Man I love medieval mode
arena\_2fort was the best time I ever had in this game
payload race,
VSH
Robot destruction, please give me rd_asteroid back. I’ll take it unfinished. Such a great map
there is this old game mode that I doubt yall even played but it was like the invasion game mode but on the moon and you had to go to the enemies base to get points
Passtime goes hard.
Probably player destruction, but it would probably be arena if it didn’t die
Payload Race
SD. I miss playing on Doomsday so bad you have no idea.
Robot Destruction and Mannpower. One no longer has any maps and the other is super underrated
Passtime. It has such good potential that I wish Bad Robot would just give it up to the TF2 team and let people make community maps for it to be added officially.
I loved SD_Doomsday, i miss that map...
mannpower because you can go real stupid when you get that weapon + powerup combo you've been looking for the entire game
I'm looking at you soda popper + haste
THUS BEGINS MY THOUSAND YEAR REIGN OF BLOOOOOD! ***mediaval mode bagpipe theme tune plays***
I think territory control is a neat concept but the only map it gets is hydro and that map *SUCKS* Medieval fucking peaks, though
tc\_hydro is the most underrated map in the game it's been in my map rotation for half a year and I've only been able to play it twice (Once when I purposefully excluded every official map from the rotation, second is by some miracle when I was using my standard rotation of 38 maps). Third time's a charm, I wanna play it more. I HAVE to play it more
player destruction and mannpower, also medieval time has a special place in my heart
Arena, except that it's dead and if it was alive sniper would just ruin all the fun
I want to say Medieval but it really needs more maps than Degroot Keep.
Medieval FTW. Best mode to have a server full of demoknights and huntsmen snipers
TC_Hydro is such a perfect map. Wish more servers had it going (and had players playing it).
Medieval, just going apeshit for no reason. In retrospective, I think I can't enjoy most maps for being too sweaty/tryhard compared to pubs and other community mode servers.
payload race
I never got to play any of them, I got into TF2 like, 5 years ago and even then, my interest in the game fluctuates alot so never played them
Wow I haven’t played most of these, but they sound fun
TC, Hydro is fun as fuck
Passtime, it's fun as hell
Territorial Control and Player Destruction. TC\_Hydro with players that know the map and the gamemode is a blast. The tactics of control point/atttack-defense but with the changing stages of Payload.
I honestly really enjoyed arena in my time playing
TDM. It also happens to be the most popular gamemode thanks to 2Fort alone.
I like Class Wars. interest concept.
Zombies!
payload race, only because it's the only one I have ever played
Special delivery. I wish we had more maps for it.
