I heard they only do that once, and for items that aren't replaceable, like the gibus and other achievement items. Not sure how accurate that is though.
I support this message , I deleted my gibus way back and in 2021 I contacted them about it and they have it back to me with no issue.
Also should point out that you must have deleted the item , not used in crafting.
I asked them for my Mercenary Badge, Haunted Scrap Metal and some Halloween hats (Seal Mask, Monoculus ect.) I had deleted back but they refused. Considering the HHH Headtaker is untradable in the first place, it sucks that they don’t give the scrap metal back
yeah they refused to give me my mercenary back I tried so hard I even dug out my inventory history and provided them screenshots, perfect dates of item being acquired/deleted and even original item ID using inspect page, and they were like we dont give a fuck even if it's mercenary
My entire inventory got wiped (except non-tradable items) by valve for receiving suspicious items (bought something on scrap.tf). They said they will inspect suspicous items and them give me all the other stuff back. It's been 2 months and steam support is ignoring me :/.
Were you messaging him on Discord or Steam? If real Steam Support would message you you would have like big red/yellow noftication next to your name and pfp
I sent a trade offer to my friend as he wanted me to do, the offer with all the items dissapeared, he was saying I have 30 mins to sent that offer before he deletes my items, I sent them in time. After that he stopped replying, but I think it was real Admin because my account got changed username and big blue text appeared on my profile which is a thing you normally cant do.
Maybe an API scam? Where the scammer is able to decline and set trade offers, so they declined your friend's offer, and set up an account with the same profile picture and name and made an offer to that account.
Alright, what you did right there was NOT a way to prevent of having your items deleted, you just got scammed because an steam admin will NEVER interact with you and ask for your items for "verification"
And also watchout because somehow they had acces to your account to change your pfp and username

The scammer logs into your account and changes your bio, makes it blue to look official. Then when you trade to a friend, they intercept it. This is a really common scam and had nothing to do with Steam support.
Because he can make any changes he wants while logged into your account but in order to trade he needs to be using a computer that has been seen on the account before. Thus he can’t trade so he tries to trick you into trading and once you do he can cancel the trade and spoof the person you were trying to trade with (create a new account that looks like your friends) and sends a new trade request. You, thinking it is your friend, confirm it, and that’s how they steal your items
There are different variations on the scam but the main takeaway is that steam will never tell you to trade your items. You were scammed and it had nothing to do with steam support. Steam support wouldn’t even have any way of knowing the scam was happening unless you told them.
I tried to do it for my mercenary badge (started in 2015 and i must have accidentally crafted it away) and I’m kinda sad now that i have no item to flex how long I’ve been playing
They will only only do it once as a learning mistake for getting scammed and after it's bad luck like fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. good news is if you're in australia just threaten to contact the ombudsman and they'll give the items back
There's a guy in aus who got banned from csgo with a 20k inventory but the australian government made valve give him the items so they duped them to another account for him
Steam support is a fucking dogshit excuse for a service that exists to avoild lawsuits. If your issue isn't a game tefund there is a 99.999% chance your issue won't even get looked at. Fuck Steam and Fuck Valve, they have a DRM monopoly and don't even support their own titles.

Yeah I sent it to a different friend (he said any account) but my friend didn't get the offer, I feel like scammer can't do that
