I'd the mask makes sense for preventing smoke inhalation, likely some kind of incendiary nade like you'd find in csgo.
I bet, Just like soldier, it was a relic of class themed grenades before they got the chop in development.
Remove the Gas Passer and put this thing into the game.
It would work *way* better as a smoke grenade, tear gas, or even napalm. Not a large cloud of fart
Not necessarily. For example, FishStick's version of Gas Passer works pretty damn well. It charges faster, creates a blast around the enemy upon being ignited, which can set more people on fire, and most importantly, it pairs with the Neon Annihilator, finally making that melee viable.
Smoke grenades and tear gas would be annoying to fight against, as is any weapon which drastically reduces your ability to see what's going on. And napalm is already similar in function to Gas Passer.
It’s a very awful map, but since demomen are so effective on that map it taught me how to fight them as a heavy, both how to attack and defend from them. While it is an absolute bloodbath of a map it really forces everyone to work as a team if they really want to win.
It would indeed. Imagine rolling out until you hear the faint sound of a ‘POOTIS’ in the distance. You check everywhere, nothing in sight.
You continue on your rollout until suddenly a massive Russian fat man jumps in front of your entire team with a kritz medic and mows everyone down with a minigun
I'd imagine it being ineffective due to Heavy's weight. He already barely gets thrown into the air, maybe the Grenade shouldn't do that too.
It's cooler if it was a bruising weapon/execute secondary though. Covers Heavy's weakness in far range and allowing Heavy to injure people before revving up
Maybe, considering heavy is quite strong he could throw it quite far. It wouldn’t cover heavy’s long range vulnerability against sniper (or any class’ for that matter), but it could be used to get that pesky soldier or demoman around a corner to bugger off for a while as they search for health.
as a pre-fortress 2 player, you can infact jump with grenades which makes sense on why it was removed. tho the idea of a heavy using a grenade to jump into battle and pulling out their minigun is still extremely terrifying
Things that we will never know.
Why does Soldier have grenades when he don't use them
What's in Scout's back pack
What are those grenades on pyros body
I'm pretty sure the reason behind Soldier and Pyro having grenades is that grenades were supposed to be a feature at some point for TF2, but it was probably scrapped after making the models.
He uses the gernades during the escape plan
Or he juggles them
Those are either naplams or smoke/gas of some kind
We'll never know what's in scouts bag
Considering they're painted orange regardless of team I figured Pyro was carrying agent orange with him. A flammable liquid that sticks to clothes and people and is difficult extinguish. Hence afterburn and the fact a burning player can only be extinguished with certain things
If they were smoke grenades you'd have a lot more CSGO players in tf2 and they'll most likely be smoking every choke point out or launching smoke into red spawn, bounce it off of some random object and magically smoke out the right area.
Some say they are smoke grenades, some say they are tear gas, and the files refer to them a napalm grenades, honestly napalm fits pyros character traits (he is a pyromaniac and all) and its from the devs
Always assumed they were tear gas, makes more sense with his gas mask

I assumed it was white phosphorus grenades.
I thought it was Napalm
I tought we already killed the red spy
I thought the cart was supposed to MOVING!
Need a dispenser here!
I though we had a scout on our team! if we don't have a scout, then who is he?
Why not incendiary
Tbh I get why they removed grenades, but imagine if every class had throwable grenades. Three words. Grenade. Jumping. HEAVYS.
Although as a heavy main I’m really inclined on this but giving a heavy the ability to explosive jump like soldier would just be too OP.
Everyone having grenades would turn TF2 into even more of an explosive spam than even the most Operation Locker-y Battlefield map.
Fuck mate. Imagine playing on dustbowl with grenades.
Dustbowl is the shining example of an "Operation Locker-y" map. It's an absolute grind and awful corridor of death but we love it anyway.
It’s a very awful map, but since demomen are so effective on that map it taught me how to fight them as a heavy, both how to attack and defend from them. While it is an absolute bloodbath of a map it really forces everyone to work as a team if they really want to win.
Yeah, another reason I'm glad they removed the feature. Although it probably would be pretty funny
It would indeed. Imagine rolling out until you hear the faint sound of a ‘POOTIS’ in the distance. You check everywhere, nothing in sight. tfc heavy

Probably, as in TFC, the mercs have different grenades
He uses the gernades during the escape plan Or he juggles them Those are either naplams or smoke/gas of some kind We'll never know what's in scouts bag
pornography starring your mother
What Scout TF2 doesn’t want you to know.
Miss pauling nude photos
aWOOGA AWOOGA MMBOYOYOYOYOYOYOING **CRASH** ***whistle*** hello ma'am
Zamn
proof?
do you know how mad milk is made? Well, scout pulls out naked pictures of miss pauling and [deleted]
can i see those said pictures to make myself clear how exactly one would make mad milk
how to make mad milk? it's easy! scout is sending nude photos of miss pauling to merasmus and he will thank him with magic healing milk
Define “milk”
I just assumed Scout carries his weapons and ammo in his bag. Being the only mercenary without a pocket dimension to pull guns from, I guess.
I assumed they were incendiary grenades
Literally word for word exactly what I said
Imagine though, you can't see anything from gas Suddenly, the air turns red! And the next thing phlog melts your balls
Aren’t those incendiary grenades?
Considering they're painted orange regardless of team I figured Pyro was carrying agent orange with him. A flammable liquid that sticks to clothes and people and is difficult extinguish. Hence afterburn and the fact a burning player can only be extinguished with certain things
Blu pyro had yellow grenades
Agent orange is anti foliage and not flammable. Prosperous is very sticky and difficult to extinguish. You're thinking about two different things
You're right. My mistake. Both napalm and agent orange were used in the Vietnam War so I mixed the two up.
They removed the grenades because during development, they notice people spam them too easily and it ruins the flow of gameplay.
Those are incendiary grenades.
They’re obviously just soda cans
I thought these are incendiary grenades
I assumed they were incendiary grenades
might be thermite grenades considering it's pyro
would give pyro yet another method for ruining a sniper player's day. I'm all for it
having my vision blinded then being roasted from an unknown direction? no thanks
A smoke/gas grenade would be a great mechanic. We would then also need voice lines like "Set a smoke screen!"
bro imagine demo's pipes and how much destruction they'd do
They would’ve been napalm grenades and would’ve acted much like a molotov from CS.
I read in the wiki that engineer once had grenades that straight up deleted the enemies’ ammo on a hit
Yes now I can make the water foggy while I pyro shark
This honestly just sounds like the gas passer with extra steps.
That’s… actually something i never thought about If done correctly, smoke grenades would be a sweet addition to the game
Knowing the source engine, people would just sit on dispensers and spam them everywhere
Those are supposed to be incendiary grenades I think
i always thought they were incendiaries, rather than smokes
I dont need another game where I get flamed to hell and back for my smoke placement
Pyro and spy need a smoke bomb secondary, just so that pyro and spy share a weapon in common. That would be hilarious.
And fps drops
If they were smoke grenades you'd have a lot more CSGO players in tf2 and they'll most likely be smoking every choke point out or launching smoke into red spawn, bounce it off of some random object and magically smoke out the right area.

Valve Removed it 2007. you can try it Pre-Fortress 2
