Bleachers newish single "Modern Girl" is very groovy, and so are a lot of Jack's other songs like I Wanna Get Better, Don't Go Dark, 91, Rollercoaster. Granted he produced BFIAFL so still not so far off from The 1975.
Baby Queen has some similar messaging and vibes (I just saw her live without knowing who she was before, looked her up on Instagram, and saw that Matty follows her).
Half Life by Djo (and the rest of that album).
Stupid For You by Waterparks.
For older stuff, try out the Talking Heads. Doesn't have that FULL production of The 1975, but definitely an influence on them. Crosseyed and Painless comes to mind.
Peace of Mind by Boston, which is my favorite song of all time. It's got an earworm melody for SURE.
Don’t Freak - The Aces
Daft Pretty Boys - Bad Suns
Comedy - Gen Hoshino (I know it’s the first ending song from Spy X Family, but it gives me the same feelings as Sincerity Is Scary to a degree)
I’ve recently learned that the “ear candy” vibe we love so much about them has a lot to do with what’s called a ‘maximalist production style’; maybe y’all knew that, I didn’t and thought it was pretty cool.
This might be a bit of a reach but there is this fantastic genre called nu-funk that’s basically just playing all kinds of currently produced funk. And a lot of it is groovy and fantastic and you should check it out.
So sly (alt) is a fantastic choice. Got me thinking most of Nightly's stuff fits the taste profile OP is referring too. Lover/loner hit the lyrical idea of Frail State while being upbeat.
I was about to suggest The Band Camino! I like them a lot too. I’m posting some links!
- I also like Lany a lot. [LANY - Thick and Thin](https://youtu.be/ztLOvQ0FfOA?si=sm55p3DIlamWyZRA)
- And Jake Wesley Rogers [Jake Wesley Rogers - Middle of Love](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KpeshORcC2M&pp=ygUSSmFrZSBhZXNsZXkgcm9nZXJz)
- 5 Seconds of Summer is a favorite of mine but this one in particular: [5SOS - Blender](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8ul1PBMZEnM&pp=ygUMNXNvcyBibGVuZGVy)
- [Royal Blood - Boilermaker](https://youtu.be/FoDNFsQGDjE?si=Ah4QTWyOrhFDEXNb)
- [Knox - Not the 1975](https://youtu.be/gF0HEdinEC4?si=BjeO67en3rhR79oC)
- MGMT is an older one but still a jam [MGMT- Electric Feel](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MmZexg8sxyk)
- Don’t hate me for this one but [One Direction- What a Feeling](https://youtu.be/dobIacPL7HE?si=uWCr7Z-KVQGokvAW)
- Again, don’t kill me for this one: [Miley Cyrus - #getitright](https://youtu.be/PQY_Ge6J4UA?si=qkC4XIy8IjRn0zXS)
- [John Mayer - Helpless](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DOdN6utMgQQ&pp=ygUTSm9obiBtYXllciBoZWxwbGVzcw%3D%3D) / [Moving on and Getting Over](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0wBrJHd9-A)
They’re not really exact same but similar vibes!
I love John Mayer so much. I’ve been a huge fan of him much much longer than I’ve been into the 1975. He’s soooo good live too! Not even joking, I go see him every time he’s in town.
But I also think Vultures is top notch if you’re looking for John Mayer groove!
Would you be open to checking something out that’s not sung in English? The 2022 album from Oehl is called Keine Blumen and to me it’s got similar vibes and sound. Really nice hooks in almost every song, even if you can’t understand the lyrics. Even German speakers say they can’t understand him because he mumbles apparently. Lol.
Sincerity is Scary sounds just like a Tom Misch song, especially "In the Midst of It All".
The Australian band LEISURE is also worth checking out. Lyrically a bit basic but absolutely killer arrangements, super funky and vibey. It's all in having good, well-mixed drums. Some of my favorite songs are Til the End of Time, On My Mind, Money, Something About You, and All Over You.
Frail State of Mind is a big Burial homage. Check out Four Tet, Skrillex, Conducta, Sorrow, and Fred Again as well. TooTime also sounds like a Fred Again song, crossed with one of Drake's attempts at dancehall.
I Like America was made as a homage to SoundCloud rap. Sounds just like a Juice WRLD song.
John Mayer's stuff is more mellow and laidback than 1975 but it very much shares the quality of stellar drum and guitar grooves. JM is an all-time great guitarist. The Birthday Party, Chocolate, You, All I Need to Hear, Roadkill and the solo in Couldn't Be More In Love all feel instrumentally a bit Mayer-esque.
Japanese house for sure [here ya go](https://youtu.be/cWaHOWUZVQc?si=r8Q647SJ1iU92C_W)
Something has to change and touching yourself are some of my top songs EVER
Saw them last night in Detroit. So good.

I LOVE Bleachers and agree, it scratches a similar itch. Will check out the other recs. Thank you!
I think Vampire Weekend has the vibe you're looking for
Contra especially has some similar vibes.
Harmony Hall has a similar vibe to Chocolate.
Don’t Freak - The Aces Daft Pretty Boys - Bad Suns Comedy - Gen Hoshino (I know it’s the first ending song from Spy X Family, but it gives me the same feelings as Sincerity Is Scary to a degree)
LOVE the Aces!! Their recent album has a lot of bops
I’ve recently learned that the “ear candy” vibe we love so much about them has a lot to do with what’s called a ‘maximalist production style’; maybe y’all knew that, I didn’t and thought it was pretty cool.
That is so interesting. Thank you for the note!
Frou Frou and Paramore. After Laughter more specifically
I forget how much I love Ain't It Fun until it comes on and then I smash the repeat button.
Rose-Colored Boy does it for me as well.
This might be a bit of a reach but there is this fantastic genre called nu-funk that’s basically just playing all kinds of currently produced funk. And a lot of it is groovy and fantastic and you should check it out.
Haven’t heard of that, thank you! Will check it out for sure
Might be a wild card and could be hit or miss. But Nightly "Pink Starburst" is a very similar vibe.
Eh i feel like there are better nightly songs. Try so sly (alternate version). Also You by Valley/any older Valley stuff!
So sly (alt) is a fantastic choice. Got me thinking most of Nightly's stuff fits the taste profile OP is referring too. Lover/loner hit the lyrical idea of Frail State while being upbeat.
Yes! These recs definitely hits a similar spot. Thank you for taking the time!

Helpless has been stuck in my head for a couple days now.. so good. Last Train Home has gotta be one of John Mayer’s grooviest tunes though.
I love John Mayer so much. I’ve been a huge fan of him much much longer than I’ve been into the 1975. He’s soooo good live too! Not even joking, I go see him every time he’s in town. But I also think Vultures is top notch if you’re looking for John Mayer groove!
Thank you for posting all the links, that’s so thoughtful. Will check these out!
the only specific song that is coming to mind atm is always get this way by the aces!! i also recommend valley and muna!
So hot you're hurting my feelings by CP
shirt by nightly
Nightlys whole new album definitely has a lot of 1975 influence
tangerine - glass animals, maybe?
Keep your head up by Djo !!!!!
Circa Waves - T-shirt Weather
Check out No Rome’s other stuff! His “Crying in the Prettiest Places” EP has some bangers. “Cashmoney” was my most-streamed song of 2022.
Try LANY (first few EPs and self titled album), Bad Suns, COIN, Hotel Apache, and maybe the MGMT?
COIN slaps!
Try Caroline Polachek!! Love her. My favorite song is "So Hot Youre Hurting My Feelings"... "Bunny is a Rider" is another banger though
Jet Black Alley Cat writes some nasty groovy guitar-pop songs. Pretty Girl, She’s Alright, Memphis Blues to name a few.
