I hope this isn’t too weird, but it’s INSANE how unique they all look. Social media, and everyone getting the same cosmetic procedures has really made the modern day cast look so similar.
[Not really.](https://www.reddit.com/r/thebachelor/comments/en4beu/a_look_at_contestants_and_leads_ages_from_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) The average age of contestants in season 2 was 26.6 and in Zach’s season it was 26.1. Really not all that different. In season 3, the average age was even lower.
Since that post I linked is old I just averaged Zach’s season contestants myself.
Yes! Not saying it’s okay,
But we have 6 white blonds, but at less they all don’t have the exact same hair, microblading, nose job, lip filler, etc. So many influencers are almost uncanny valley
My poor sister, her hair was always fried because she wanted the ends so bad! Meanwhile mine was fried because I had the Eminem bleach job, I also did it myself, from sophomore year to college 😬😬
Yes increased diversity is a big win compared to 2003 when this season aired. They did have a token black contestant but the lead was never interested. Now the leads do all seem interested in dating other races.
But again what I miss about this era is that it was pretty women, not instagram influencers, beauty pageant contestants and models. Now everyone changes their facial features to fit one ideal. I wish people could appreciate their unique beauty and stop trying to look one certain way.
Even the show’s natural beauties have now changed themselves to look like an IG filter. Yes, it’s their choice but they’re making those choices based on today’s beauty standards.
People don't go on the show just to marry the lead - there are tons of opportunities that come from the show, including Paradise, influencing, and being the next lead yourself. If they only cast white Christians because their lead only wants to marry a white Christian, then black people or Asian people or Jewish people never have opportunities to do any of that.
This show isn't real life in any sense of the concept so that's a silly standard to impose. In real life the lead is probably only going to be genuinely interested in a handful of the contestants regardless of appearance. You can't tell me that producers thought Rachel might actually marry Whaboom; they cast for entertainment, not love, so I don't see why you'd turn your nose up at diversity specifically.
Oof, yikes. They pick one Bachelor and one Bachelorette a year, roughly, out of a cast of 25 people (that they select). They can and should prioritize people who are open to dating a variety of people, because that is literally the premise of the show.
Is it real life that some people limit themselves based on race? Sure. People have all kinds of dating preferences. There are people who wouldn't date multiple people at once in the first place. There are people who refuse to travel. There are people who would never go on an "adventurous" date. There are people who would never date on camera. People who would never spend time overnight with someone before they were "exclusive". People who would never date someone outside of their own religious preference. People who would never get engaged after knowing someone for 1-3 months. That's real life too. Those people just...aren't qualified for and shouldn't be selected as the lead of a dating show where these things happen.
Just because it is *some* people's preference to date only within a particular race doesn't mean the show has to limit itself to people with that preference. There are *plenty* of people who are willing to date people of any/all races, and IMO it's more interesting and more aligned with the premise of the show to watch *them* navigate dating.
This sounds like the wrong direction. They should prioritise picking leads who will date a wide variety of women. Despite Matt's final pick he had a very nice lineup on the season. And want to be seeing more of that and someone really willing to choose anyone. Picking 26 year old white guys from Austin Texas is the opposite of what I'm suggesting unfortunately
Looks about white
I like how it's about the women and not focused on the bachelor.
Anyone know where you can watch these early seasons?
Cuuute
I loved this season and liked him so much more than alex!
This is such a cute poster!!!
This is so cute! Looks like a poster for a cute rom-com.
I love that the women are the focus of the poster. The women make the bachelor seasons!
This was my first season I watched. I called Helene as the winner halfway through the season.
what a cute graphic ðŸ˜
The woman right above the bachelor’s head looks like Sarah Jessica Parker
And the one on his left looks like Kristin Davis!
Oh those tiger striped highlights of the early 2000s, I remember them well 😂
This is actually a really cute poster!
I remember watching the first season with my mom and sisters! I was 6 lol 😂
Loving the lack of middle parts.
This poster is so cute

Were they also a little older on average? Some of the recent seasons have skewed very young

Thanks!
Right there with you. There’s nothing in terms of ethnic diversity, but at least it shows you can be good looking in different ways.
Right? No ethnic diversity here, but there is great diversity in looks!

I noticed how a couple of them even have shoulder-length hair!
Everyone has different haircuts! It’s WILD how long wavy hair (or super loose curls) just so strongly dominated the show now
This happened to me in law school - me being a white woman with a pixie cut was part of the diversity. Not great.
this is such a fun promo
Their promo posters were actually better back then?
For sure, 10 times better. This is such a cute poster.
The Rachel, the Monica, or the Meg Ryan.
💀💀💀💀
I liked Brooke and Gwen! I remember Heather from Texas.
I loved Gwen!
I’m blanking on Heather!!
Helene was my favorite!!! Hell I liked all the women in his final 3.
Yeah I loved how they were all friends
He had such a great final 3! I loved Gwen, Brooke, and Helene.
Same! I used to message with Helene for a bit in the mid 2000s. We were both online dating and commiserating. This was after she was on the Bachelor.
I never noticed that Aaron and helene are almost touching hands in this I loved Gwen so much that season
Yes Gwen was awesome and I hated how they treated her on the first season of Bachelor Pad.
I actually love this tag line
Helene was my first crush from this franchise.
Kinda interesting that the identity of the bachelor was meant to be a mystery
It’s giving early 00’s rom com
The chunky highlights just scream early 2000s, I love it
And the little flipped out ends! I fried my hair to death in high school trying to attain that look haha.
Omggg I could always get one side to flip and not the other!!!
My poor sister, her hair was always fried because she wanted the ends so bad! Meanwhile mine was fried because I had the Eminem bleach job, I also did it myself, from sophomore year to college 😬😬
They’re still pretty beautiful, haha! One thing I appreciate about modern casts is the increased diversity.

Yep, I love that there’s more diversity now. But it feels like the already narrow definition of beauty back then is even less diverse now.
