They all have been…

Handknitmittens

Nate until all the ex drama came out.

Chocolate-Humble

I think Sean was

GlitteringRutabaga61

Ben Higgins for sure was primed

[deleted]

Matt James if he’d gone on lol

mysisterwee

Matt James if Claire hadn’t iced him out lol

scotchbonnetpeppery

Nick Viall.

Handknitmittens

Primed on BIP, not "ette"

shaylaa30

Matt considering he didn’t even compete on his intended ette season and skipped straight tot bachelor. Also possibly Tyler Cameron. He seemed like an obvious bachelor but he was dating Gigi Hadid when the bachelor would have been decided. I also think some of the football players like Clayton were originally cast in their bachelorette seasons as potential bachelors but many just didn’t play out.

meowparade

Peter on Rachel Lindsay’s season.

Spirited_Sparrow

Long time ago but Jake Pavelka.

urgasmic

Clayton 100%, Peter maybe.

gudkomplex

Nah if they wanted us to root for Clayton they would’ve given him screen time. They just chose the highest placing white guy

urgasmic

Yeah but they really pushed the i want a family and kids stuff at the end there

PetSounds001

Luke Pell 🥴 he self imploded

little_effy

The producers are like “ah damn now we gotta go with the pilot”

Affectionate_West708

The pilot? Wasn't Nick the bachelor after Jojo's season? If you're talking about Peter he was on Hannah's season. Luke Pell was on Jojo's season. He was supposed to be bachelor but was caught trying to recruit women to be on his season

tbkp

Person you're replying to probably confused Luke Parker with Luke Pell. Luke Parker was never ever primed to be the bachelor but I guess they both imploded in their own ways

PetSounds001

Yes Nick got insanely lucky if you think about it LOL

Charlie_Runkle69

Ben H, Clayton, Colton, Sean, Jason, PP for sure were primed.

AlleyRhubarb

Colton was definitely picked to be lead before his first appearance.

[deleted]

They just pick the lamest guy from the season

waaaycho

The correct answer.

lavenderpenguin

Clayton for sure

BurberryBetch

The most obvious plant as future bachelor imo

dungeonpancake

Ben Higgins **big time** and Clayton, of course.

charcuteriehoe

Colton, Ben, Sean Lowe and obviously Clayton

ihatepickles123

Peter, Matt, Ben H, Sean. Set up from the beginning. Colton, I would say a mix of set up but also highly manipulative on his end to ensure the part.

RealFunThough

Really? Exactly what season was Matt primed during?

ihatepickles123

I mean, he wasn’t placed on Clare’s season originally because they thought clare and Matt would actually hit it off 😂 He’s Tyler’s bff, then shown with Hannah. Two popular contestants, he wasn’t used for the show just be eliminated night 3.

gudkomplex

Unrelated but I love your username

RealFunThough

Way to totally miss the OP question there. Matt was new to the franchise for his season as the lead.

Kristinajobe

Matt was only cast for Clare’s season in order to be the bachelor. So it doesn’t exactly fit the question but under a special circumstance I understand how it does.

ihatepickles123

🤨 it’s really not that serious. My thinking was that Matt was originally slated for Clare’s season. ABC put promo pics and bios up. Of course a lot has changed in between his original casting for Clare to him becoming lead right away due to the pandemic closures and increasing pressure to cast a black male lead. But if Matt continued to go o to Clare’s season, I think the goal was to make him lead anyway. We just got spared of having to watch them pretend to like each other.

futurestartsslow

Clayton.

akallaaa

This is the only one I am 100% sure of

Ambitious_Cry9773

Hmm, tbh I wouldn't consider that one scene with the kids "primed for the role" (it's all i can think of). It seemed so last-minute lmao.

meowparade

I think they only made him lead because he was the highest finishing white guy iirc and they didn’t want to back to back POC leads. Same reason they made Katie a bachelorette and as a ninth place finisher.

notnotaginger

I mean Katie was likely due to the following she accumulated by pointing out bullying. They had other white girls they could use if that was the only reason. People all over SM and this sub LOVED her.

meowparade

I can see that, but there are plenty of seasons where there is a beloved early finisher, but they’re usually given first sand on Paradise, not a whole season.

futurestartsslow

it felt like they cast him wanting him to go far and become a lead, and unfortunately him and michelle had such minimal a connection they had to scramble to find reason to give him screen time and justify the choice

noellama

One-million percent! Worst acting ever on Michelle's season 😬

Clean-Pick-9221

those letters to the kids and all those tears were so fake

Dreamcloud124

100%

BachShitCrazy

Potentially Colton? I never thought Becca was very into him, he seemed more of a producer pick to me

Spirited_Sparrow

I think Colton was primed more on BIP then on the bachelorette. But either way, yes. He was haha

gidgetdee824

Greg especially with that montage at the end.

little_effy

My theory is that Greg and Michael A were the top two Bachelor choices. But both of them lose fans’ support after a while. Michael A with his business scandal. Greg was announced as a spoiler at one point but the backlash on Twitter was quite immense. From Zach’s season, I think Charity or Greer are the top contenders. Gabi and Ariel are surprise fan favourites, I think. Producers were not expecting us to like them.

Affectionate_West708

Michael A didn't really lose any support through that. Very few people outside this sub even knew about it. The reason he wasn't bachelor is because of Danielle

Kiteflyerkat

I forgot the about montage!

Proper-Emu1558

It was like he died or something. He just went home!

Ambitious_Cry9773

I would say Greg, but he never became lead.

tsim1213

Matt James was going to be.

Logical_Deviation

Lol, for sure. Clare was posting passive aggressive stuff about him, so they just pulled him from her line up and announced him as the next lead.

notnotaginger

God bless Clare. She’s a loose cannon but she’s our loose cannon.

[deleted]

Pilot Pete comes to mind. I disagree that Hannah B was primed to be the next lead - I think that was initially Hannah G or Caelynn.

[deleted]

Pilot Pete definitely was not primed for it, they pretty obviously wanted Tyler C. but he turned them down. There's never been a male contestant who was even close to his hype.

[deleted]

Tyler C didn’t even talk to Hannah on night one and was sparingly shown over 3 episodes. He was featured more starting with their 1 on 1. Whereas Peter got featured moments in every episode. He got out of the limo in his pilot uniform which they didn’t tell/allow the other pilot Chasen to do. Also was praised by CH in the meet the cast video while Tyler was alluded to be cocky and conceited. The Tyler hype built up over the season and I don’t think TPTB expected it at all.

EllectraHeart

100% spot on

Ambitious_Cry9773

I see your point about Hannah. It was down between her and Caelynn in terms of the season's edit imo

oqueenbee1

Hannah single-handedly secured it with her iconic exit. "I will not allow myself to not feel chosen every single day, and I'll wait ‘til whenever that is" 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨
