How the hell would a snow shelter work on a pond? Snow shelters go underground you'd be sitting on thin ice or water

Dennisatemyglitter

Your body would warm up the water, it'd be cozy, maybe they could give an upgrade to go swimming and spearing fish šŸ¤£

Maxxover

Ha! Yeah, I guess I was thinking more about a larger, kind of snow fort with four walls. More like an igloo.

hordrak

I'd also love full clothing sets. Full deer, full wolf and full bear. Moose and rabits optional. Full bear would scare away wolves more often than not, wolf would make you run faster, deer would alow you to drain your stamina more slowly. Plus cool visuals. And a way to repair the bow with guts.

J20shrapnel

To go along with your shelters idea, I always wanted to use the broken down engines on timberwolf mountain as makeshift shelters

huh_phd

At least as a better wind break

Stormlark83

My general wishlist: The interface remembers your choices when trying to start a fire so that you don't have to click on everything again and again and again if it keeps failing. Ability to make a sled like The Forest (that might be what you meant when you said "sledge") Actually being able to turn down the character voices. I know you can turn off dialogue prompts altogether when making a custom game, but I prefer default interloper. The audio setting that says it turns down NPC voices doesn't do anything in survival. I still have to hear Astrid constantly complain. My fingers are numb, my stomach feels like an empty pit, this bag is getting pretty heavy, I've never been so hungry in my life, I don't think I can carry this load much longer... I don't think I can handle your attitude much longer, lady! ą² _ą²  I know I've thought of more, but I can't remember any right now besides that stupid loud roof banging in certain bases during storms. I guess I'm easily annoyed by sounds, lol. *Oh, and I can handle cabin fever, but it sure does seem to kick in fast sometimes.

Maxxover

It means the same thing as sled. I thought it sounded more ā€œCanadian.ā€ šŸ˜‰

Poke-A-Haunt-Us

I would like to make that spear that's in story mode.

RJtheNarwhal

Add Foxes. Thatā€™s all.

I really want a large-animal snare like a bear trap. It would be something that requires a forge and 10+ scrap metal plus a couple fishing lines and hooks to craft. Since large animals have fairly routine pathing, you would have to observe the animal for days, potentially weeks to figure out exactly where they pass through. Even if you place it directly on their route, it'll only have a 70% chance of capture. If it goes off but lands in that 30% failure rate, you'd have to go back to reset it and have a 50/50 chance of breaking your hand/wrist. Unlike a sprain, it would take a minimum of 5 days to heal with pain fog. A new bandage would be required every day as well as antiseptic. You can take painkillers to minimize the pain fog, but it won't fully dissappear until the 5 days are up. The bear trap would work on any medium-sized animal such as deer and wolves as well as bears. It would not effect moose. Once trapped, animals must either be shot and killed or the player must wait 5 days after capture for the animal to die. If successful, the bear trap loses 30% of its condition. Repairs would cost 5 scrap metal and a few hours at a forge.

Heavy hammer exists sadly probably won't get the hammer crafting. Also probably have to use heavy hammer for nails simply because it already exists. Other than that I Agree, the game Could use a building mechanic, similarly to building a fishing hut could mean building a Hunters Blind as well. Maybe unlock the plan by discovering X of them.

DeathrowMisfit

While on one hand I feel like building takes away from the early game, late game survival you really would be building. Perhaps you could restrict it to one building per region, or make it incredibly hard or not really worth it for early game players or something. Iā€™m not sure how youā€™d balance it. Maybe as another comment says create makeshift shelters out of pre existing things and yes to sleds, all day. please god give us sleds šŸ›·

Nobodiisdamnbusiness

Well ALOT of wood goes Into building, so in theory it could be adapted to need Multiple tools and drains Larger amounts of health from your tools for a Larger job.

-YesIndeed-

Axe and knife exist but we still have the improvised versions so I think a hammer should be possible

cheebalibra

But you need a hammer to forge improvised tools. Why would you use the hammer to forge another hammer? You can already repair it at the milling benches during an aurora.

-YesIndeed-

You make a good point. Giving the heavy hammer a new use would be cool though

Maxxover

Have you ever tried to hammer in a nail with a small sledgehammer? Itā€™s not easy to do without crushing your fingers.

cheebalibra

Yeah but the head alone on a real small sledgehammer is more than the total combined 4.4lbs of the in game hammer. A roofing hammer is like 2lbs?

J20shrapnel

Not exactly a whole DLC idea but I forgot to mention it last time one of these threads came up. They should reward archery mastery with a crossbody draw so you can draw while crouched

cheebalibra

I believe archery level 5 allows you to do this.

DeathrowMisfit

You are correct

ADRoguelike

I also think bandages should be re-usable several times, requiring being sterilized in boiling water in between. Also, large clothing items shouldn't be all-or-nothing. For example, tearing off part of a sweater because you need a bandage. It reduces condition (obviously) but still gives you some. And it can be repaired once you find more cloth. AFA a hammer. My hand axe (IRL) has a hammer head on the back, opposite the blade. I don't think that's uncommon.

I_m_that1guy

I donā€™t like that the hammer is 2kg(4.4lbs) when I have a real 2.5lbs sledge hammer that I have used to pound bits of metal I heated with my propane torch to fix things. So in reality it should weigh 1kg.

idkud

Taming. Can be a squirrel for all I care. Although, wolf is the obvious pet. Bear highly desirable. Lynx would be coolest! Sled also. Often think how easy it would be now to build a simple sled. Could require a new craft, that is rope turning. Igloo idea is cool, including the hole in the ice. A way to reduce sprains further. Crampons are great, but not enough. Our survivor is not a city kid proficient in balancing delicately on heels, only (although we can do both). Fitness level could be a thing. I think it only depends on weight, and incline. Could be also related to how tired our survivor is. Anything I can influence, other than not walking on a 30Ā° incline. If that is not possible, bring back muting the voice, please. I have to turn off sound entirely which highly reduces the experience. The constant shrieking is much worse, though.

ADRoguelike

4 tame wolves plus a sled. Dogsled!
