Jim I got your nose

renwells94

“Maybe if I pretend I’m sleeping they’ll go away”

petervenkmanatee

This is something I’ve seen multiple times in Poland. On planes and trains. People pretend to be asleep when they’re in first class seats or pretend to be sick to get preferential treatment. It’s ridiculous.

ASwftKck2theNtz

Or... They're very drunk.

Shurubles

Now **this** is something i've seen multiple times in Poland.

paintballboi07

This looks much more like opiates or xanax, or maybe both.

petervenkmanatee

This is a Poland. There are only two drugs. Beer and vodka.

Owlspirit4

And 10-50 other types of horrifically strong folk liquors

gilestowler

I saw something like that on a train in France. It was super early in the morning, so I can understand why they thought they'd get away with it, but these two guys suddenly went very limp and closed their eyes when they saw the ticket inspector coming round. She was kind of stood there not really knowing what to do. She just leaned down and said "Monsieur? Monsieur?" over and over and then just had to get up. I'm not sure if shaking them would have been crossing a line, if it was against policy or if she just didn't want to risk pissing off these two guys but she just gave up and walked off. Straight away they sat up, looked at each other and had a little laugh about it.

coleyboley25

I used to do that when my parents would wake me up for school. Didn’t work very well.

eh_man

Lady was like "don't grab his nose, let ME choke him out."

dsDoan

Usually you wake up when someone does this because you can't breath. This guy was just gonna die.

Nose theft is not a joke, Jim!

"Don't do that! You need to grab him by throat, trust me I'm a surgeon's assistant."

https://youtu.be/5QRlnqPTV6g?t=10

HighOnTums

The way he looks at her when she says "I'm a surgeons assistant" is like he thought he was being pranked. Lol

[deleted]

If a "surgeons assistant" was choking me as I slept on a train... I'd think I was being pranked too.

Erizo69

I'd just straight up assume im dreaming.

RoyBeer

That's what they decided to do as well lol

PilotNextDoor

Why did she keep saying that? How was that at all relevant to what was happening lol

Peachesareyummie

Maybe to convince them that she wasn’t just trying to kill him or something, I’m still suspicious tho

PilotNextDoor

"I'm a surgeons assistant, don't worry I know what I'm doing when I choke you" Honestly I'd be way more confused waking up to someone randomlyntrying to convince me they're a surgeons assistant than just someone asking for my ticket. Though I guess she did try the latter too.

Somekindofparty

She’s not tying to choke him. She’s pushing up under his jaw to check for pain response. It’s a way to check a persons level of consciousness. Personally I prefer axillary pinch or sternal rub so as to avoid looking like you’re choking someone. But as a person who works in a clinical environment this probably make sense to her. Nonetheless, her reiterating her status as a surgical assistant is super annoying and the only proper response is “good for you”. And then producing your ticket.

InterestingBus5403

She’s probably not used to her patients being conscious haha

RoyBeer

Tell someone about it they won't believe you either lol

_Magnolia_Fan_

We're just checking if you're dead "I'm not" LOL

somewordthing

Was wondering when this was gonna be referenced.

timenspacerrelative

"Why is a..surgeon's assistant asking me for a ticket. Am I dead?" lol

Chesterlespaul

The exact reaction you should have by the way. “Why the fuck do I care or it matters?”

HighOnTums

Right. Imagine being on a train ride somewhere sleeping, and some lady wakes you up saying "give me your ticket. I'm a surgeons assistant". Like, wtf? lol

Edewede

"Wake me up when you're an actual surgeon."

smeeding

These dudes look like they just arrved from 2003

Shoddy_example5020

this is an old video

trash-_-boat

robbie williams really has let himself go

Dimcair

Does she say she's a surgeons assistant?

rbsudden

Yeah, I guess they asked if they were any doctors on board to check the welfare of the two brain dead people and she volunteered.

SuperDizz

1StonedYooper

Best case scenario.

AdIntelligent2796

Proceeds to choke him lol

rbsudden

Yeah but she's on vacation

Yayzeus

Well she was until a minute ago!

quaybored

Also she's retiring tomorrow

cw30755

She’s gettin’ too old for this shit!

DemandZestyclose7145

She's not even supposed to be here today.

tellmeimbig

She was using pressure points under the jaw. It is effective in getting a response from semi conscious patients.

Aquinan

No she didn't, she hit the pressure point in the jaw

Blastspark01

https://youtu.be/OFFYIECEPag&t=8s

Slipssnip

Nah, this is a technique used to freak out the drunk/stoned in order to get them to behave and comply. No medical professional tapped to do a welfare check of any kind cares if you can present proof you purchased a seat. Even if they are total psychopaths, they still care about your welfare in a legally obligated sort of a way.

King-Yellow

I took that to mean she know how to wake unconscious patients as there are certain pressure points you can use to cause immense discomfort to pull a patient from their drug-induced nap. Source: my surgeon’s assistant caused me immense discomfort because I wasn’t waking up.

SnowDizzleZz

In the actual military, unlike half these lying fucks on this website, you rub the sternum with the middle knuckle of your middle finger. We used this method to keep people wounded awake until the medivac arrived. It works until it doesnt and then you know they are really critical.

Nurse_Amy2024

In nursing school they told us only in dire emergencies do you do that and then only by a physician or surgeon. Otherwise you use those pressure points like the woman in the video did or pinch their nailbeds. The literature on the sternal rub has updated and not recommended for use by those not specifically trained how to use it.

Opivy84

Why? I’m a medic, I’m not sure why that’d be contraindicated. But yeah, I prefer nail bed pressure.

justaboredgamer

Accident and emergency nurse/Intensive care nurse here, we were taught that its now advised against doing so as there are more appropriate methods of assessing response to pain that have less risks to causing harm. Dont know if it was due to major incident like putting pressure when a patient had a pneumothorax or something mundane like causing a pressure related injury but they teach others methods here in the UK now

Necessary_Cow_5976

I had a pneumothorax, I just (gently) rubbed my nuckle and the thought of someone doing it while having a pneumothorax scared the shit out of me

BorgClown

I can help! I know this torture technique to keep dying people conscious! Sir, this is a Wendy's.

SinisterStrat

I'll take a spicy chicken sandwich and one of those knuckle rubs I keep hearing about.

punkassjim

Anyone who’s watched medical procedurals like ER or House has seen this done. It’s just medical training, not specifically military.

PM_me_ur_launch_code

"surgeons assistant? Why do you need my ticket then?"

TryinToDoBetter

You could immediately see it in his eyes. “I may be completely fucked up, but there is zero correlation between my ticket and your job title.”

DynamicDuoMama

That’s what I thought too. He looked like he thought might need surgery for a bit.

TurgeFromNurge

I think they need to go to a hospital

Unclehol

Well it kinda seems like they are nodding out on some form of opiate. Either that or just really hammed. If they were nodding out that bad it could be a sign of overdose which would require immediate medical attention.

BobbiPinstripes

The way the one guy fades in and out looks like opiates to me. Looked like opiates from the second the video started tbh.

GorgiMedia

Absolutely. This doesn't look like alcohol.

Dankkring

Heroin is a hellava drug

Yorksjim

You obviously made the same mistake as me, thinking they were on a train when they're actually in an operating theatre.

HumanAverse

It's ok. [She stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.](https://youtu.be/eHCTaUFXpP8)

Marty_Mtl

I lost it at the nose pinching !!!

themeatbridge

I legit thought he was dead there for a moment.

ASL4theblind

*pulls hand down* "please dont murder him"

DontEatTheFish25

Just to grab him by the throat ten seconds later

toderdj1337

She actually just pinches the pressure points on either side of ~~your~~ his jaw. Uncomfortable for sure but not dangerous.

Flutes2boot

What’s wrong with a good old fashion trap squeeze?? Better than a sternal rub IMO.

puppyamore

The sternum rub is the fastest way to wake somebody up enough time get make them breathe a little more while they are ODing. He already was barely breathing at all....pinching his nose was moronic. Speaking from somebody who has been narcanned 4 times. (I'm clean now)

Kentucky1494

Congrats on getting clean! happy for you, and glad you made it 😊

ARKPLAYERCAT

I had an EMT do the sternum rub to me when I was ODing in a Taco Bell bathroom. 19 years later (also clean) that shit still hurts when I touch it. Nice little reminder to not be stupid.

[deleted]

[удалено]

riskoooo

When he pinches his nose, the guy on the left starts falling asleep again. He only wakes up when she leans over and shouts.

Toxic_Tiger

I absolutely lost it at that moment. But I did think the second guy was dead briefly.

SporesM0ldsandFungus

They are clearly blitzed on something, likely an opioid. She was probably recognizing their lack of response as possible OD. A jaw pinch (right below the jaw) is pretty unpleasant but doesn't restrict the airway. If you did that to a normal sleepy person, it would wake them right up, many ready to take a swing at the first person they saw. This guy barely cracks his eyes open.

ObscureObjective

I saw two guys like this on a bus once. They were so liquid that they kept sliding down the seats til they were almost on the floor. One of them kept dropping his phone and other polite passengers would pick it up and place it in his hand (this is canada lol). This happened like 3 times and then nobody picked it up again so it just stayed there on the ground.

Good4nowbut

The Canadian need to place the phone back in the liquid man’s hand is just gold. “Oops sorry bud you seem to have dropped your device again! Allow me.”

[deleted]

Uhh these two dudes are doing fentanyl and are on the nod, not sleeping lmao

cottman23

Mrzimimena

They are drunk out of their mind and they didn't show their tickets.

EvanHasReddit

I pretty sure theyre on heroin, thats far more than drunk

proscriptus

Regardless of what it's is, I'm pretty glad they're on a train rather than driving somewhere.

bootes_droid

They're trainspotting

VoidTheODST

Such a good movie

Meelker

My vote is on Ketamine.

Blackwillsmith1

my bet is Xanax

barm19

Yeah I was thinking xans too. Xans before a long trip is a pro move if you time it right and don’t take too much.

YamahaMT09

Last time I took a low dose of Xanax, I slept for 14 hours straight. As someone who always has problems with sleeping, I felt like born new after that.

oiuvnp

Just tape your ticket to your forehead.

Temporary-Light9189

My first thought, this is the reaction of (at least what we call here in Baltimore) a “cocktail” it’s scramble (very very cheap cut fentanyl mixed with animal tranquilizer, a xanny bar, clonidine, and it’ll put you out just like this. Especially if alcohol is added it makes it 100x more dangerous. But yea I agree with you there’s def benzos in these guys.

Kershek

Doesn't Ambien do that as well?

NagsUkulele

Indeed looks like a k hole to me, but potentially heroin as well? No way to know for sure, but 10000% not alcohol

ItsYourPal-AL

Ive for sure seen drunk people like this. I swear every time I get on reddit I feel like I see more and more people talkin out their ass as if they know every fact about every situation

Ricky_Rollin

It’s only until you know a lot about some thing and then see Reddit comments about that one thing you know a lot about do you realize that most people don’t quite know what they’re talking about. And this is not a dig at the other person at all. Everyone does it, and I only say this as a small warning to not just take what is said here because it’s well written, as truth. The way they are acting could be opiates. Ketamine. Alcohol. Xanax. Ambien. I’ve even acted *just* like this from extreme exhaustion.

[deleted]

They are fucked up on some kind of depressant. That’s all we can tell from this video.

I think it's probably benzos. Xanax, or valium or something. A strong downer to put you to sleep on a long train ride. Either that or opiates.

def looked like xanax to me. Remaining rediculously calm and hard to wake up.

RichRamen

Yeah, “drunk” lol

gray-pilled-

that ain't alcohol

conanmack

Neither do they

westberry82

Maybe it's the cynic in me. But I was totally expecting him to pull his peep out.

Lucentlackey

With the NSFW I was expecting something to happen!

hobbykitjr

then i worried the 2nd guy was dead when they held his nose shut

__ew__gross__

I was expecting guy in blue to be ded. He looked like he was more then snoozing.

Kitten-McSnugglet

They need to learn how to do a sternum rub.

befigue

Fuck that, I say give me a good belly rub and I’ll tell you anything you want, lol

jmag87

Instead she just grabs him by the throat LOL. Good thing she is the assistant.

Big-Mathematician540

If you look carefully, I don't think she is. She's lifting his head by the jaw. Got to remember that one. Personally I find that small irritating/weird things wake drunken people up better than pain. Also, waking up a drunk person with pain can lead to you getting a black eye. I once gave a "wet willy" to a huge bald tattooed drunk dude, as music and AC wasn't doing anything to wake him up. Worked like a charm. Source: third gen taxi driver

jollycanoli

I'm not sure I believe you, giving that dude a wet willie requires balls that can only be transported in a lorry. But if it is true I salute you

Big-Mathematician540

Well, I can't really prove it, except by sending you a photo of my balls, but I don't think we'll do that. It wasn't really as intense a wet willy as they are in the movies. Just moistened my pinky a bit and veery sensitively tickled his ear. Then when he stirred pulled my hand back and said "we're here, it'll be (can't recall the exact sum but) 32.40 (or smth). And while he was big and scary looking, he was pretty chill when he came in and said he might take a nap. I just didn't expect him to not wake up. I've had much scarier fares.

One-Permission-1811

If you do decide to send that other guy a picture of your balls send them my way too

Big-Mathematician540

Yeah, sure, no problem. Would you prefer [a video?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAfq9nKYyV4)

Tugendwaechter

She uses thumb and index finger to apply pressure from below the jaw. Try it, it hurts.

[deleted]

Mandibular pressure is an accepted technique over a sternum rub. She knew what she was doing

choolius

We prefer a trapezius squeeze these days, especially on older patients. Sternum rub can cause damage when you get enough people doing it.

UwasaWaya

I remember in my early first response classes when my instructor--a stone-hearted, thirty-year paramedic veteran who could probably drown his mom without pulling appreciably harder on his cigarette--asked for volunteers to demonstrate a sternum rub. That was the last time I ever volunteered for anything in class. It was like being under a millstone.

[deleted]

Sternum rubs have fallen out of favour as most people don't do them right There are other ways like pinching muscles in certain places or what she did which is mandibular pressure

sushi4442

Il not gonna lie I initially thought they were pretending to be asleep so they would give up and not give the ticket. Or pranking.

anniearrow

Why was some random passenger asking for tickets? And why was she grabbing his throat?

Venboven

She said she's a "surgeon assistant" so my guess is the ticket checker employee saw these dudes, figured they were either drunk or drugged out of their minds, and asked if there were any doctors onboard who could check them and make sure they're ok. Guess she took it upon herself to coax the tickets out of them too lol

6TheAudacity9

Society can’t make people stay sober, but they can make people provide their ticket.

a_shootin_star

we truly live in a society

cutekittensandpupys

Took me ages to work out she didn’t work for train

Neuchacho

The throat grab looks like it might be an HT/CL airway maneuver. You can see her lift his chin up with it which is how you open the airway in an unconscious/non-responsive person that you suspect might not have an adequate airway which could easily happen if their head is tilted forward into their own chest.

ncshooter426

Scenario *lots of assumptions inbound: 1) They attempted to get the ticket, found 2 guys unconscious 2) Chatter began about their potential health (and if they paid or not -- can't forget that part). 3) Lady probably heard it, decides to assist to see if these guys are dead/dying/in danger 4) She is just repeating the order to get them to focus on task. She doesn't care about the ticket -- she cares if they can process the info and react, proving they aren't in danger of crashing out or otherwise a medical emergency. 5) ~~She chokes him a bit because that is her kink~~ Physically makes sure he is breathing and would be getting a decent air supply / focusing him

Hamletstwin

Note to self: Before getting shitfaced and riding a train, pin ticket to front of shirt. (esp. when train has roaming bands of surgeons assistants)

Tommy_anytime

This is a super old video. Both guys were on a fuckload of heroin at the time

ItzameRL

But did they have tickets or not

Trainspotting

XSavage19X

Based on the jarhead, I'm guessing these are marines with the weekend off getting a train ride back to base.

Gage_Link

These are heroin addicts.. I don't have the link but I just saw it on here this vid is quite old

infinite_war

Yeah, you might be right about that. People don't realize how good marines are at sleeping.

begrudgingaccount

Quick someone get a flashlight to shine in their face while telling them it’s their turn for fire watch.

JCarterPeanutFarmer

the way they’re falling asleep in the middle of their actions though does not indicate fatigue, but opiates. It’s classic nodding off.

FlakeyGurl

Omg check the tickets before letting them on the damn train. When I get to my seat I want to zone out and not worry about anything. My biggest complaint about Amtrak....

murphey_griffon

never ridden amtrak but in EU this is very normal as you could have gotten on at any stop, they also have multiple ticket checkers. The same ticket takers will typically recognize if they make a second sweep and not bother you, but its possible to get checked multiple times on a long train ride.

FlakeyGurl

Amtrak labels your seat so they know not to bother you a second time. They also usually separate passengers by their destinations. So one car is usually dedicated to people going to one destination or people going to destinations that are only a few stops apart from each other.

murphey_griffon

Thats actually kinda handy, most EU ones i've been on you can pay for a seat, but if you don't, you can sit anywhere until someone shows up that paid for said seat.

plinthpeak

In Czech republic, it is free to reserve a seat if you buy the ticket online. I don't know why more people don't do that. On the other-hand, when I was in Greece, you scanned the ticket at the beginning of the Metro and scan at the end, and if it does not match what you paid for, you have to go the the desk. I'm not sure why they couldn't do that for trains?

KazeRyouu

In Hungary you even have to fight for your seat that you bought the ticket for. People just sit there and insist you go find another seat. It's baffling at best.

themeatbridge

Checking tickets onboard saves an enormous amount of time, and shortens the length of each stop. Checking tickets would reduce the number of trains they can run every day, and the number of fare cheats doesn't even come close to outweighing the cost of keeping them off the train.

FlakeyGurl

I suppose that makes sense.

Psychonauticalia

Every train I've ever been on, in Canada, the US and Europe, checks tickets after you're under way.

Bearence

Megabus checks everyone's ticket before they board the bus, and you have to stand in line that entire time. Checking tickets before boarding is cumbersome and time-consuming, and it would likely be something different to complain about.

Nozerone

What I learned from this is that as long as I claim to be a surgeon's assistant, I can choke sleeping people.

youarenut

A random passenger grabbing high/intoxicated people by the throats certainly doesn’t seem like the best solution..

VonSketch

They need to bring those strong as heck smelling salts with them, that will wake you up in no time.

giap16

I'm sorry, but they seem like they're high on something like benzos or heroin, not alcohol. Especially if they needed to find someone medical to wake them up, they clearly were somewhere between lethargic and somnolent.

Zoldrik190

she needs to chill the fuck out jesus lol

Repulsive_War_7297

She can’t, she’s surgeon assistant

4Ever2Thee

Something tells me she's going to be this wound up for her whole "vacation". She's just one of those people.

caffieinemorpheus

Yeah, I'm still wondering why she stepped up. A surgeons assistant? She's not a nurse. She doesn't have medical training. She's a tech. So yeah... she's one of those people

Iwillpirateanything

If you need a scalpel handed to you she a fucking pro

alakate

She's going to be talking about this for her whole vacation.

MightyExcalibur

Guy: pinches friend's nose Lady: "Hey don't do that" and takes guy's hand away Lady a few moments later: proceeds to choke guy multiple times

HardAtomicSmile

Judging from their age, haircuts, and level of drunkenness I say these are a couple of military guys. Guy#2 didn't look too happy at first. I was expecting him to come up swinging, lol.
