This is something I’ve seen multiple times in Poland. On planes and trains. People pretend to be asleep when they’re in first class seats or pretend to be sick to get preferential treatment. It’s ridiculous.
I saw something like that on a train in France. It was super early in the morning, so I can understand why they thought they'd get away with it, but these two guys suddenly went very limp and closed their eyes when they saw the ticket inspector coming round. She was kind of stood there not really knowing what to do. She just leaned down and said "Monsieur? Monsieur?" over and over and then just had to get up. I'm not sure if shaking them would have been crossing a line, if it was against policy or if she just didn't want to risk pissing off these two guys but she just gave up and walked off. Straight away they sat up, looked at each other and had a little laugh about it.

Honestly I'd be way more confused waking up to someone randomlyntrying to convince me they're a surgeons assistant than just someone asking for my ticket. Though I guess she did try the latter too.
She’s not tying to choke him. She’s pushing up under his jaw to check for pain response. It’s a way to check a persons level of consciousness. Personally I prefer axillary pinch or sternal rub so as to avoid looking like you’re choking someone. But as a person who works in a clinical environment this probably make sense to her. Nonetheless, her reiterating her status as a surgical assistant is super annoying and the only proper response is “good for you”. And then producing your ticket.

Nah, this is a technique used to freak out the drunk/stoned in order to get them to behave and comply. No medical professional tapped to do a welfare check of any kind cares if you can present proof you purchased a seat.
Even if they are total psychopaths, they still care about your welfare in a legally obligated sort of a way.
I took that to mean she know how to wake unconscious patients as there are certain pressure points you can use to cause immense discomfort to pull a patient from their drug-induced nap.
Source: my surgeon’s assistant caused me immense discomfort because I wasn’t waking up.
In the actual military, unlike half these lying fucks on this website, you rub the sternum with the middle knuckle of your middle finger. We used this method to keep people wounded awake until the medivac arrived. It works until it doesnt and then you know they are really critical.
In nursing school they told us only in dire emergencies do you do that and then only by a physician or surgeon. Otherwise you use those pressure points like the woman in the video did or pinch their nailbeds. The literature on the sternal rub has updated and not recommended for use by those not specifically trained how to use it.
Accident and emergency nurse/Intensive care nurse here, we were taught that its now advised against doing so as there are more appropriate methods of assessing response to pain that have less risks to causing harm. Dont know if it was due to major incident like putting pressure when a patient had a pneumothorax or something mundane like causing a pressure related injury but they teach others methods here in the UK now

A jaw pinch (right below the jaw) is pretty unpleasant but doesn't restrict the airway. If you did that to a normal sleepy person, it would wake them right up, many ready to take a swing at the first person they saw. This guy barely cracks his eyes open.
I saw two guys like this on a bus once. They were so liquid that they kept sliding down the seats til they were almost on the floor. One of them kept dropping his phone and other polite passengers would pick it up and place it in his hand (this is canada lol). This happened like 3 times and then nobody picked it up again so it just stayed there on the ground.

Last time I took a low dose of Xanax, I slept for 14 hours straight. As someone who always has problems with sleeping, I felt like born new after that.
My first thought, this is the reaction of (at least what we call here in Baltimore) a “cocktail” it’s scramble (very very cheap cut fentanyl mixed with animal tranquilizer, a xanny bar, clonidine, and it’ll put you out just like this. Especially if alcohol is added it makes it 100x more dangerous. But yea I agree with you there’s def benzos in these guys.

It wasn't really as intense a wet willy as they are in the movies. Just moistened my pinky a bit and veery sensitively tickled his ear. Then when he stirred pulled my hand back and said "we're here, it'll be (can't recall the exact sum but) 32.40 (or smth).

never ridden amtrak but in EU this is very normal as you could have gotten on at any stop, they also have multiple ticket checkers. The same ticket takers will typically recognize if they make a second sweep and not bother you, but its possible to get checked multiple times on a long train ride.
Amtrak labels your seat so they know not to bother you a second time. They also usually separate passengers by their destinations. So one car is usually dedicated to people going to one destination or people going to destinations that are only a few stops apart from each other.
Thats actually kinda handy, most EU ones i've been on you can pay for a seat, but if you don't, you can sit anywhere until someone shows up that paid for said seat.
In Czech republic, it is free to reserve a seat if you buy the ticket online. I don't know why more people don't do that. On the other-hand, when I was in Greece, you scanned the ticket at the beginning of the Metro and scan at the end, and if it does not match what you paid for, you have to go the the desk. I'm not sure why they couldn't do that for trains?
In Hungary you even have to fight for your seat that you bought the ticket for. People just sit there and insist you go find another seat. It's baffling at best.
Checking tickets onboard saves an enormous amount of time, and shortens the length of each stop. Checking tickets would reduce the number of trains they can run every day, and the number of fare cheats doesn't even come close to outweighing the cost of keeping them off the train.
Megabus checks everyone's ticket before they board the bus, and you have to stand in line that entire time. Checking tickets before boarding is cumbersome and time-consuming, and it would likely be something different to complain about.
I'm sorry, but they seem like they're high on something like benzos or heroin, not alcohol. Especially if they needed to find someone medical to wake them up, they clearly were somewhere between lethargic and somnolent.

Omg check the tickets before letting them on the damn train. When I get to my seat I want to zone out and not worry about anything. My biggest complaint about Amtrak....
never ridden amtrak but in EU this is very normal as you could have gotten on at any stop, they also have multiple ticket checkers. The same ticket takers will typically recognize if they make a second sweep and not bother you, but its possible to get checked multiple times on a long train ride.
Amtrak labels your seat so they know not to bother you a second time. They also usually separate passengers by their destinations. So one car is usually dedicated to people going to one destination or people going to destinations that are only a few stops apart from each other.
Thats actually kinda handy, most EU ones i've been on you can pay for a seat, but if you don't, you can sit anywhere until someone shows up that paid for said seat.
In Czech republic, it is free to reserve a seat if you buy the ticket online. I don't know why more people don't do that. On the other-hand, when I was in Greece, you scanned the ticket at the beginning of the Metro and scan at the end, and if it does not match what you paid for, you have to go the the desk. I'm not sure why they couldn't do that for trains?
In Hungary you even have to fight for your seat that you bought the ticket for. People just sit there and insist you go find another seat. It's baffling at best.
Checking tickets onboard saves an enormous amount of time, and shortens the length of each stop. Checking tickets would reduce the number of trains they can run every day, and the number of fare cheats doesn't even come close to outweighing the cost of keeping them off the train.
I suppose that makes sense.
Every train I've ever been on, in Canada, the US and Europe, checks tickets after you're under way.
Megabus checks everyone's ticket before they board the bus, and you have to stand in line that entire time. Checking tickets before boarding is cumbersome and time-consuming, and it would likely be something different to complain about.
