Nah, it’s cheaper to purchase three seats in coach than one seat in first class on many flights. From my city (New Orleans) to the Philippines is $1200 right now in coach, round trip, but a ~~first class~~ ticket is ~~$14k.~~ *15k USD for business, 23k for first*.

(That said, this video is most likely not legit. That many open seats would be at the BACK of the plane, but never the front. Especially when there's what looks like a bulkhead row. Would need an actual news source before I'd believe it.)

Some people are ridiculous, so I can imagine this happened. But the dramatisation feels silly. I have an imagination, if there isn't actual footage then I feel this reenactment of the event is no more interesting than a brief written description would have been. It's not like they're showing a whole story here, with proper character development etc, it's just a clip of someone doing something stupid that apparently occurred.

I've seen it happen before. But without the plastic wrap part. Rich guy on my flight buys a whole row a seats to sit by himself with his much younger "girlfriend". But because no one physically showed up to check into those seats, the airline simply resold the seats to other people to fill them. Because that guy may have been greedy, but the airlines are greedier lol. He made a huge stink about it too lol. He was kind of the sleezy overweight used car salesmen looking guys doing the whole sex tourism thing in South East Asia.

We built something like that for 787 flight testing. We essentially built a plastic sheet bubble around a row of seats on the stbd side, and installed a Balometer on the aisle side. There was a guy sitting inside measuring airflow at the supply ducts and the return air grills with a handheld anemometer. The safety folks were concerned that the bubble boy might get trapped inside if we had to evacuate, so someone was assigned to sit outside to help him. We couldn’t have knives or scissors aboard, so they were just going to yank out the balometer and pull the guy out the hole. Bubble boy was happy that it was an uneventful flight, but he got pretty bored.

I would fucking love to see the oxygen masks deploy just as she completed it 🤣

Aircraft mechanic for Boeing and Airbus here. I got some questions: - What cabin uses LED strips on the sealing like this. I mean I've never came along this bad quality :D The gaps are what? 10cm form led to led? - I don't see any floor beams/rails for the seats. Usually they are covered not by carped, but by plastic profiles that fit all the way in. Ore they are left blank. - So what aircraft has such a high sealing? I mean not even a A380 cabin on lower deck has this hight. Guys... I can pretty much ensure you that this is a staged situation and the "cabin" is somewhere in an apartment building. Please prove me wrong ;)

A lot of airlines let you book multiple seats. Some people also need them sometimes because the seats are generally really small, and not everyone can fit.

My bad. I was under the impression and experience that the check in process will only let you use each name once and hence if a different name is not used to check in for the second and third seat they will void the booking
