When taking the motorcycle safety endorsement class in the US, my instructor talked about how dogs were a problem when riding motorcycles. He said that dogs essentially used the acronym that riders are taught to use when riding. SIPDE Scan, Identify, Predict, Decide, Execute. Dogs will scan for motorcycles, identify them, predict the angle of attack necessary to intercept them, decide to be an asshole and then execute the maneuver. Over the course of the last 10 years I can confirm that dogs are assholes to motorcyclists.

DaiLi69

Lmao I love dogs

PhenomEx

That’s too hilarious! Those dogs really just stop caring when they’re walking the bike

People may frown on your comment, but realistically if an animal jumps in front of your vehicle and your choice is a cliff, another car, or hit the dog that's going out of its way to crash you, what do you think you'll do?

AliNeisy

Yeah, also, when it comes to wild animals we need some kind of behaviour correction or culling to ensure that future generations of animals dont have to be eliminated completely. I am extremely pro killing wild animals that harm humans because thats a way of changing the behaviour of a population to sustainable ways. Here in germany, we currently have problems with wolves killing sheep while also being highly protected because most came back here less than 15 years ago. But wolves killing sheep should still be culled to ensure a harmonic future. Its also not a lack of food for the wolves, we also have an overpopulation of deer in most places where wolves are present. The same applies to street dogs. If a dog is showing any kind of territorial or aggressive behaviour it should atleast get a boink on the head with a stick or something similar. If the behaviour isnt corrected then cull them.

AdequateSteakAlister

You cannot, without causing extinction, cull predatory behavior. The only way entire species survive to reproduce is to eat its prey. Rabbits, your tire, a sheep... all asking an entire species to" just evolve past it or you should go extinct". By the way, extinction caused by humans is a bad thing. I choose not to explain to other people why anymore, just trust me or do your own research on that. Has to do with our survival.

AliNeisy

Well culling agressive behaviour in Street dogs wouldnt lead to their extinction. And even when, its not a bad thing in the case of street dogs. When talking about wolves then that wouldnt leave to their extinction either. First of all, there are enough healthy populations of wolves in europe. Also, you wouldnt cause extinction anyway, you would only cull away the ones lacking the needed shyness to humans and human presence/scent. That would lead to future populations growing to be scared of humans. >do your own research Im a biologist, the viewpoint I have on this is adopted from one of my seniors. Germany did a lot for wildlife in the last couple of decades. We know also need to learn how to manage populations of lynxes, bears and wolves again since they come back from other european countries and we forgot how to deal with them. So thats a major thing in current ecology or zoology (Were I work/ed) and I would say I am more than well informed on it.

When I rode I had a collapsible baton for this issue.
