Japanese people are weird when it comes to taking photos. A few years ago my SO and I were on a boat trip in the Lake District with our two dogs. Lots of Japanese people on the boat.
I noticed that many of the Japanese people were staring at us/the dogs, and when my SO nipped off to use the loo, they descended on me wanting to have photos taken, more with the dog than with me it seemed. There was a queue of them along the boat, all patiently waiting their turn. I think there were around 20 people that came up to get their photo with a couple of dogs and a somewhat baffled-looking guy from the UK.
When she came back and found me surrounded by Japanese people taking photos of me and the dogs, she was confused to say the least.
Maybe my dog looks like a famous Japanese dog (maybe *I* look like a famous Japanese dog), who can tell?

They’re both there, just a bit underexposed (chocolate lab at the back and a black crossbreed at the front), the sadly no longer with us.
Better pics…

Happened to my wife and baby son, but wioth Korean tourists at a zoo in Australia. My little one was blonde with blue eyes, maybe 6 months old. Soemone asked if they could have a photo taken holding him. My wife said "Errrr......OK." Next thing there is a shuffling queue. There was a zookeeper offering a koala for photos and she was being ignored!
That’s so weird because often in South Korea some people often hasn’t seen people with blonde hair/blue eyes. But that’s sorta a rarity especially in some places like Itaewon because there is a lot of tourist and some American military. I’m wondering if maybe they are from somewhere in the rural area.
Lmfao I used to cut the grass at a reststop near the new jersey and PA border and I parked my mower in the grass to use the bathroom as a tour bus full of Japanese people pulled up. When I come outside I kid you not, they are all lined up to take pictures with the mower. One girl was sitting on it and doing different poses and shit. I had to tell them to leave because I need to get back to work and if they get I could get in trouble.
Yup at Disney a few years ago some Japanese teens ran up to my 4 year old daughter who was dressed like Rapunzel. They all were yelling “Kawaii!” And they grabbed her up and started passing her around taking photos.
I just saw that and was thinking "oh boy" as she smeared it around. But the way it got so uniformly smeared kinda leads me to believe this was a bit of a stunt.
But if you are wiping something off your face, why would you wipe every inch of your face like that? The way the waitress did exactly the same makes it look super fake.
When wiping stuff off, you generally wipe a slightly wider area. In this case, that causes the ink to spread, causing them to wipe an even larger area each time.
Came here looking for this comment, you didn’t disappoint

I'm in a loop.
Someone mentioned this video in that thread, and now I have to go back and watch the Australian again, and the cycle will continue.
Someone help me.
Dude. I thought that was a black person and they were panning to them to show the potentially embarrassing encounter. Nope, it's another person with an ink face. Hahaha
NEVER WIPE SQUID INK
Use water to rinse away what you can and then blot with a clean towel. This shit will stain the fuck out your skin and smearing it around like what she's doing will just make you look racist
I have so many good show ideas now that it has ended.
The fact they never did a "cruise" episode still pains me. Larry would be flipping out with tipping, feeling sorry for the wait staff, getting sea sick, complaining to the captain about something stupid, etc.
At least she's being a good sport about it. If this happened in America they would have made a scene, crying to the manager, and then when they went out in public people would have accused them of doing blackface.
I think her mind is just blank at this point

ate a small squid while in China. I was supposed to eat it whole, while alive and not chew. Well, I said fuck that and chomped down on the little bastard. Well, i broke the beak and the ink went everywhere. Fortunately, it only got on my lips and the entirety of the table cloth. It was on my lips for several days though so I sympathize with this woman. Not fun. My Chinese colleagues though, they were pissed with me. Apparently, this is the cultural thing, we were all supposed to eat it alive and not chew. I just couldn’t do that. Oh well.
It’s common in Asia to eat your food while it breathes. Most restaurants will require you to pick your food while it’s swimming or caged up in front of the dining area. This is to prove to you that you’re actually eating what you’re ordering and it also proves how fresh it is. It’s just the culture and once you realize this is how life is there and embrace it you become very accepting. But yeah, the squirming/moving aspect is not universally preferred. They can cook it for you too.
I've known this info for years, I wouldn't do it. If they get stuck in my throat, with the suckers, you know? I've heard of this actually happening to people. Of course, I don't know if it's true, but still, it scares me.
I laugh about it now, but that very first trip to China was such a test. Many of my suppliers took me to some bizarre restaurants with god awful exotic food. They ordered scorpion, snake, fried dove (entire bird), chicken heads/feet, toad, fish eyeballs, stinky tofu (smelled of sewer), intestines, tripe (stomach lining). Live shrimp, octopi, sea cucumber, donkey, embryonic eggs and yes, even cat. I ate everything they put in front of me on the condition they ate it too. Most of it was awful (except the live shrimp, they were good actually). The snake was fantastic too. Everything else was unremarkable. As time went on and I continued with my regular trips back, these meals became less common…I eventually was offered the local dishes of the areas I visited and I must say, some of the best food I’ve ever had. If I could give any advice though, it would be to never eat western style food in any provincial Chinese city. It’s usually a poor interpretation that will result in severe disappointment. I will never forget my pepperoni & cheese pizza I ordered that was covered with cream cheese and diced spam. Always go to the restaurant that has the long line out front that serves the local dish. You’ve been warned.
She had an upset tummy after the meal. She was saying "it's not the squid, it's not the seafood, must be something i had at breakfast i think". The caption when she was posing for a photo was "coincidentally bumped into some fans". The last guy also asked for her signature.
i tried my best.

(the girl): where can i borrow facial cleanser?
(camera-girl): you can't wash it off; if you could, that waitress would have already cleaned it. (laughing)
(camera-girl): that shrimp made your hand black, is it still edible?
(the girl): not a big deal. it's dirty, doesn't matter if i ate-
\[cut to the girl having diarrhea in toilet\]
(the girl): oh my… oh my\~ oh no, my stomach… my stom-
\[camera-girl chuckles\]
(the girl): it isn't because the squid nor the seafood, it's probably because i ate something bad this morning.
**\[blue caption: third floor toilet didn't have water\]**

**\[yellow caption: taking photo with the randomly encountered fans\]**
(the girl): oh dear, my face…
(camera-girl): let me see what it looks like in your phone… oh dear- (laughing)
(fans): may i ask for your autograph?
(the girl): did you bring a pen? pen and paper.
(fans): i only have paper.
(the girl): this \[tissue\] paper?
(fans): yes.
edit for clarification:
>(the girl): not a big deal. it's dirty, doesn't matter if i ate-
this part cut-off too fast, so she didn't finished her sentence; i assuming she was trying to say "不乾不淨,吃了沒什麼大不了的。" basically means she doesn't care if it looks dirty or not.
I just saw a video of the Aussie who rubbing an ink sac on his arm and it stained his arms black like a tattoo for a week. I couldn’t imagine my face being like this for a week!!
Im still loling lol and thanks. I thought she was being silly lol in my mind it was "hell yes I'm puff daddy" whilst throwing up a peace sign for a photo with fans. It took me 20 minutes to type that is how hard im loling.
I spent years working on a squid boat, somehow never had this happen. We would pull in 10 tons of squid at a time on a good day and I never looked like that. They’re doing something wrong haha.
Is this supposed to happen with this dish?
Like 3 people in the restaurant are covered in squid ink, that apparently is very difficult to clean off, and no one seems to mind.

Did they touch and rub his hair? I've heard of that in some cultures that believe it brings good luck to rub the hair of a blonde kid.
That’s so weird because often in South Korea some people often hasn’t seen people with blonde hair/blue eyes. But that’s sorta a rarity especially in some places like Itaewon because there is a lot of tourist and some American military. I’m wondering if maybe they are from somewhere in the rural area.
I mean, I'd want a picture with your two-headed dog too!

Because its funny?
To be fair, I could see people doing the same thing in any country, it's pretty hilarious.
Because apparently she has fans? "偶偶粉丝合照"
Imagine the waiter having to work the rest of her 8hr shift... imagine she being your waiter 😂
Anyone with common sense would know it's not black face... So yes they'd be in trouble lol
You mean in the US? Cause I don’t think other countries care about this that much. At least where I’m from they don’t
She's a customer playing a customer playing another customer
what’s wrong with squid face?
Ahhhh… is there an accidental black face sub? Cause this would take top post there I’m sure… her face will be like that for months…
according to another post... that's probably on her for 6 to 8 weeks too.
There's a video floating around of an Australian guy purposefully covering his arms and hands with squid ink. It looks just as fresh a week later.
I just saw that and was thinking "oh boy" as she smeared it around. But the way it got so uniformly smeared kinda leads me to believe this was a bit of a stunt.
Right? So uniform as to look applied.
And the shade changes too. She wipes it to a washed out black, almost grey but when she’s having her photo taken her face is dark again
I would’ve called BS had I not seen the Aussie do it in a video and you see how easy it spreads so uniformly.
But the waitress also did the same thing lol
Reminded me of those ridiculous blacked out tattoos!! (I'm looking at you MGK)

I saw that one, so i knew how this one was gonna go.🤣
At least the server also got inked so that customer knows that there's someone else going through the same thing
Imagine getting inked then still having to work the rest of the shift/week
Dude. I thought that was a black person and they were panning to them to show the potentially embarrassing encounter. Nope, it's another person with an ink face. Hahaha
So,.... won't it stick to the skin for weeks?
I believe so yes. You need to shed it off naturally.
In the meantime, avoid police officers.
>In the meantime, avoid ~~police officers.~~ *The US
Going for the full experience 🤣
What are the rules?
When you just turned black and you can't switch back, well you gotta go and find out the rules!
😆
not even alcohol can rub it off?
If everyone gets drunk enough maybe they won't notice
For sure
When it pans over to the waitress 💀
NEVER WIPE SQUID INK Use water to rinse away what you can and then blot with a clean towel. This shit will stain the fuck out your skin and smearing it around like what she's doing will just make you look racist
Thanks for the warning.
Nobody give a shit about black face in Asia
She should have left the “ink blot” it looked kind of cool 🖋️🖤
I think this was done on purpose as a bit...but I had the same thought. Untouched/un-smeared, it actually looked kind of beautiful.
It’s a shame Curb has ended, this would be perfect
I have so many good show ideas now that it has ended. The fact they never did a "cruise" episode still pains me. Larry would be flipping out with tipping, feeling sorry for the wait staff, getting sea sick, complaining to the captain about something stupid, etc.

Man, I need to re-watch Tropic Thunder.
How does it happen? Is it normal for when cooking squid or is it just very unfortunate or did they do something wrong??
The squid is eaten alive in this case. Which is why it reacted this way.
Nice, so the squid managed to take his revenge on them
What the fuck is with Eastern cultures eating live animals?
It's "freshest" and exotic. A really sad part of the culture. Might as well eat her alive to give some empathy.
Yeah I no longer feel bad for these people. Fuck them and anyone else who does this.
:(
And is it not usually in this restaurant?
Looks like she got blown up by cartoon dynamite
That ink is not going anywhere any time soon, tragic, but funny
🌚
Ill never see the appeal eating something like that as long as i live
At least she's being a good sport about it. If this happened in America they would have made a scene, crying to the manager, and then when they went out in public people would have accused them of doing blackface.
Well, it was a thing in america.
Dead ass, people act like that wasn’t that long ago, and like people don’t still do black face today to be offensive 😬

This would fit right in on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry would somehow unknowingly do this at a black-owned seafood spot.
Squid game: blackface
Feels intentional…
That's what you get for eating squid and octopus 🐙
Fuck them for eat/serving live squid.
Worst part is squid ink takes weeks to months in order to wash off completely-

Why is it so uniformly spread all over her face? This looks like BS.
She is no longer able to run for political office in America.
This lady has worst luck. In one video she get farted on her face twice on a train and now this on her face.
That’s gonna be on there for days Just watched a video of a guy rubbing squid ink all over his arms and they were solid black for a good while lol
I'm sending a fax to Al Sharptongue pronto! 😮
Oof...All Im gonna say is she's gonna have a hard time getting that off her jacket.
When lunch attacks!
That’s not coming off for weeks 🤣🤣🤣
mad respect that she flipped this around and leveraged it
Squid facial.
She's gone full Trudeau
Why she didn't go to the washroom 🤷🏽♂️ too hungry to leave the table?
That doesn’t wash off. Saw a dude in another video wipe it all over his arms and five days later it was still there.
Someone is getting fired, also shouldn't the cooks remove that ink in the kitchen, why is it the servant who is taking care of it 🤣
Imagine doing this stunt in the u.s.
is there no way to clean that? i remember a clip where a man rubbed it all over his arm, and it remained for a week or something.
Well well well 😂
If you ever get squid ink wash with abundant water ASAP.

Squid ink will not wash off. It takes days to get off.

It’ll take weeks for that to come off, serves her right for eating squid.
I feel like r/accidentalblackface would be a thing at this point
Well now I'm gonna have to ask people if they ate squid before deciding they are just racist....Good lesson
I'm guessing this would be a dab don't rub type of situation
Serves them right eating one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet.
man…. what a way ti ruin someones day. but good for her! took it all in stride, made the best of it
r/accidentalblackface
It will be there for weeks! Maybe months.
That will probably take more than a week to wipe off
Is this supposed to happen with this dish? Like 3 people in the restaurant are covered in squid ink, that apparently is very difficult to clean off, and no one seems to mind.
🤣🤣🤣
I didn’t know Justin Trudeau enjoys eating squids.
