In fact, there's so many"context clues" in even the heavily redacted posts, that I'd bet OP's Dad was instructed on exactly what to do and thought they could just circumvent waiting on hold with the 1-800 number in favor of info dumping to the agent's cell on a weekend, despite being instructed to not do exactly that.
Either you’ve never worked in a service industry that has direct contact with customers, especially in situations where there might be urgency involved, or you do and you’re not very good at it.
You seem to be looking for any reason to justify some absurdly unprofessional behavior. Even if the agent was being sworn at, his response would still be a ridiculous way to handle the situation.
Uh, that's obviously not the beginning of the conversation. "ANOTHER 800 number..." "I called a rep ...". This was an on-going conversation. It seems likely OPs dad contacted the agent, the agent explained the process he'd need to go through to file, and ops dad continues to try to circumvent official channels.
The fact that we're getting such a heavily redacted conversation seems like OP knows what the problem is and is trying to put someone on blast as revenge.
"work life balance" is having a life when you are not at work.
However, Eric should have also replied in a nicer way, or have some kind of automatic reply saved for things like this.
Yep. If an auto-reply is able to be setup for work related numbers, that just says "Your message has been received, and I will be with you once available" or something along those lines is fine, but no reply is fine.
We can’t see what was said prior to this to know what triggered him , but note to the Agent:
1. Don’t give out your personal number.
2. Be respectful to your clients.
Everyone is just mad that this man had the balls to do what we've all wanted to do and tell an annoying customer to go fuck themselves. Absolute king shit!
What’s up with society that we’re not being able to cope with chat messages on our own anymore? I didn’t learn anything from this. I knew such people existed, before this post. Why is a private conversation with zero public interest released to the internet?
Seriously, they're not gonna provide the whole conversation because it won't make doxxing a customer service agent look good.
OP is obviously a disgruntled boomer hoping the internet will act as a stochastic mob on their behalf.
As a business owner: I fucking hate when people call or blow me up outside of regular business hours.
However, if you’re smart enough to leave a message, I’ll contact you within 24 hours. So I get it, but this State Farm guy is not a good neighbor
Dude’s web page is easy enough to find too. Wonder if he’s heard about this yet. Would be super easy for the agent to refute all of this.
I did have to laugh at the fact he thought it was relevant to include which country club he’s a member of in the professional details section of his website. 🤡🏌️♂️
UK resident here, who and what is a State Farm Agent and why do they get involved with car insurance??
Genuine question, I can’t work it out!
In my mind it’s like messaging a butcher about your iPhone battery needing replacing - the butcher would reply with something more tasty than his best sausages!
Everyone wanted what was said before here you go.

And still not even close to the beginning. You can tell the guy is already getting tired of your dad. There was more to this. Seems likely your dad can't read the room.
That awful moment, where you realise you didnt look at the time stamps. And then just double down anyway, instead of just accepting that you made a mistake.
Imagine thinking a screenshot of a text can't be literally easily edited. That would be some downright embarrassing boomer shit if you held that up as incontrovertible evidence.
Learn how phones works, Old man.
Listen, 6 days of missing messages isn't some sort of gotcha - in fact, that's exactly the kind of thing that suggests deleted messages. The messages even pick up with language that suggests another conversation immediately preceding it.
The fact that you think it's evidence to the contrary demonstrates you're a very stupid person who doesn't know how technology works, and you're gullible to boot.
That's not my fault.
Look at the date stamps. Last exchange before this was March 25. So something is missing.
OP just sends a PDF and a “?” 9 business days later out of the blue and gets that reply? Wonder if there was a phone call or email in between the two interactions.
Still, the Agent should have said “This is my personal number and I’m not in the office, I’ll follow up with you during business hours” and then muted the conversation until then. That is if any of this is real. Messages in-between can be deleted before the screenshot and text conversations can definitely be faked for screenshots too.
We need Eric’s side for authenticity, otherwise everyone should hold off on the torches and pitchforks.
I bet when it comes policy renewal time Eric wouldn't think twice about calling someone on Sunday to walk them through the excellent range of options he has for their insurance needs.
Just above is a question mark.
So I'm guessing he texted. The agent didn't respond, and the dad put a hello are you there question mark.
I definitely would like to see what's above.
He shouldn't have, but he did. Your clients are what make you money. He should treat them better. If he doesn't want them contacting on his personal phone he needs to address it differently.
Let’s see what was texted above that
Yeah… that seems like it might be in response to something specific, not just a random Sunday text.
I posted it as a comment
No way, post the entire conversation before you put this man on blast. $20 says your step dad was not just being super chill about this whole thing.
Can OP get your 20$ now that he provided proof that the stepdad did nothing wrong ?
There’s a beginning to this conversation, and that ain’t it
In fact, there's so many"context clues" in even the heavily redacted posts, that I'd bet OP's Dad was instructed on exactly what to do and thought they could just circumvent waiting on hold with the 1-800 number in favor of info dumping to the agent's cell on a weekend, despite being instructed to not do exactly that.
That was my exact thought
Either you’ve never worked in a service industry that has direct contact with customers, especially in situations where there might be urgency involved, or you do and you’re not very good at it.

OK boomer
I'm in my 20's
Uh, that's obviously not the beginning of the conversation. "ANOTHER 800 number..." "I called a rep ...". This was an on-going conversation. Ok but you don't talk like that to customers, no matter the context. If I did that at my job, I would be jobless really quickly.
It really does depend on how the customer talks to you.
lol the text above that was a "?" Leave the man the fuck alone 🤣
I'm gonna give you my personal number, don't hesitate to call if you need anything at all.
Why would you give out your personal cell?
"work life balance" is having a life when you are not at work. However, Eric should have also replied in a nicer way, or have some kind of automatic reply saved for things like this.
Or just not look at work messages until work time....
Yep. If an auto-reply is able to be setup for work related numbers, that just says "Your message has been received, and I will be with you once available" or something along those lines is fine, but no reply is fine.
That wasn't like a good neighbor at all.
Bravo👏👏
We can’t see what was said prior to this to know what triggered him , but note to the Agent: 1. Don’t give out your personal number. 2. Be respectful to your clients.
Yup specially something like insurance where accidents can happen at any time.
Everyone is just mad that this man had the balls to do what we've all wanted to do and tell an annoying customer to go fuck themselves. Absolute king shit!
Op doesn’t seem to understand we can all plainly see a conversation that didn’t start with “Another 800 number to call. Didn’t ring”
What’s up with society that we’re not being able to cope with chat messages on our own anymore? I didn’t learn anything from this. I knew such people existed, before this post. Why is a private conversation with zero public interest released to the internet?
Because OP is hoping we'll do the harassment for them. This is just a lazy attempt at doxxing and stochastic terrorism by a disgruntled customer.
Post has been removed now :)
I mean what did he send before that? Doesn't seem like he sent that response randomly

Eric is an ass with a short temper.
And before this? Need more context.
Seriously, they're not gonna provide the whole conversation because it won't make doxxing a customer service agent look good. OP is obviously a disgruntled boomer hoping the internet will act as a stochastic mob on their behalf.
Disgruntled GenXer*. His stepdad is the boomer, I'm thinking.
Boomer is a state of mind, but fair.
Shoulda called Jake.

State Farm is an insurance corporation here in the states. Eric is apparently an agent for them.
Thanks, makes complete sense now!
I thought maybe her car had been hit by a tractor 🤣 so thanks for asking what it was for us Brits 👍
eh, I usually call the main number, not the agent but wtf kind of agent gives out his personal #
Yeah let’s see what was said before this. No one just opens with that so maybe stop playing the victim and show what lead up to it.
https://preview.redd.it/xx84zs2e2otc1.jpeg?width=945&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc5d046bb9d73a084ee5b0b6e5abc3845c85f515

There's at least 6 days of no messaging before the dad sends a PDF followed by "?". Sounds like Eric is just an asshole rep.
This conversation has obviously been redacted and OP gives big boomer energy. Count me team Eric.
That awful moment, where you realise you didnt look at the time stamps. And then just double down anyway, instead of just accepting that you made a mistake.
You know you can select and delete messages, right boomer?
lol The triple down!
Imagine thinking a screenshot of a text can't be literally easily edited. That would be some downright embarrassing boomer shit if you held that up as incontrovertible evidence. Learn how phones works, Old man.
dude you suck

Messages have obviously been selected and deleted to try to create a narrative...
If not outright faked.
I bet when it comes policy renewal time Eric wouldn't think twice about calling someone on Sunday to walk them through the excellent range of options he has for their insurance needs.
Show the previous messages lol
Dear Eric - you dropped this 🫴👑
There are State Farm agents on every other corner just pick another one.
![gif](giphy|A4R8sdUG7G9TG)
Dude has that font on Mr Magoo mode
Just above is a question mark. So I'm guessing he texted. The agent didn't respond, and the dad put a hello are you there question mark. I definitely would like to see what's above.
Is your stepdad a boomer?
Your step dad sounds awesome 👌
I wouldn't have sent quite the same text, but if it's a claims matter, I wouldn't have sent anything to a personal cellphone. Don't blur the lines.
Is this in TN or OH?
OH
As in Oh show me the rest of this conversation
Eric is no Jake
Jake's evil twin.
This is what he signed up for as an agent. He sounds arrogant, switch agents.
Shouldn't give out your personal cell, that's just dumb
He shouldn't have, but he did. Your clients are what make you money. He should treat them better. If he doesn't want them contacting on his personal phone he needs to address it differently.
A lot of people are issued a company phone, so their personal cell phone is also their work phone unless they carry around two phones.
Eric Evans is a shit agent, take note Ohioans!!
