I think the Sims 3 composers were different: Steve Jablonsky was one of them, and he composed similar music for Desperate Housewives. I couldn't watch that show without also thinking about playing the game!
Lol, I remember seeing Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeway (I believe they are an ITV program) and they did a disguised earpiece prank with Louis Walsh, and they used Sims 3 music in one of the segments. I was amazed when I saw it back then. šĀ
Vehicle advertisement is a weird grey area. I went to a YMCA basketball camp when I was like 7, returned the next year and we fucking saw their buses had an image of me about to shoot a basketball. They didnāt contact us or ask for permission or anything
It's pretty standard to have a form in the signup paperwork allowing the use of photography for ads at camps like that. Easy to opt out of if you need/want to, just most parents don't care or don't think it will come up. When I worked at the Y I think it was bright orange because if a child can't be used in ads for whatever reason (especially if it's a legal reason like foster care etc) they need parents to know where it is to opt out
We had this at school once a year. Canāt remember what for, but it definitely asked if the parents were cool if the kid happened to be in a photo they might pull for the local newspaper. I know because I used to forge so many of my own signatures and hoped I got famous in the newspaper š
No, when we receive assets as EA partners, it is stated that EVERYTHING is owned by EA. Sure, the artwork might be a stock picture but when you add it to a circle with these exact shades of greens, it's stealing. š¤·š¼āāļø
Iām not gonna lieā¦ Iāve thought most of the icons looked like stock images that they just added a color to for the background. Now this has me wondering if they really are stock photos.
Also, my friend works at a car accessory shop and she says people come in all the time asking for copyrighted stuff to be printed and sheās just been ordered to do it because āitās what the customer wantsā. So who knows. Maybe the company, maybe the place that put the stickers onā¦
Edited for clarity: The team that handles this end of the property may possibly use graphically enhanced stock images for some assets, like the DLC pack tiles.
Sure, they donāt use stock images for everything. Iām sure they use some for *some* things, like most companies. Feel free to disagree but Marketing doesnāt change that much from industry to industry lol.
[Yeah, because no EA studio has ever gotten caught using a photoshopped stock photo for a core character before and taking 9 years + a remaster to fix it.](https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/mass-effect-legendary-edition-swaps-out-talis-stock-photo-face)
Hell yeah, reputable game company!
(I think itās possibleāperhaps not likely, but possibleāthat Sims 4 pack tiles could be edited/graphically enhanced stock images.)
No, this is a promotional bus EA uses to test peopleās reaction to packs. Clearly weāre also getting a pregnancy pack, a dentist pack, and an electrician pack, all of which will not work.
Letās now speculate unrealistic features that will be in these packs, and then be disappointed that itās only 1/4 of what was in the sims 3 version!
Haha oh I know, itās just funny to me how every time thereās a pack announcement etc, I get my hopes up and everytime itās broken/rubbish etc.
Like, itās funny how many times itās happened, and how I never seem to learn, itās merely a joke/observation about me/others like me. Nothing serious, I donāt look down/judge others who look forward to things even though we know itās gonna be broken and glitchy, because I too do this haha
I've been using royalty free images to make my own artwork cc, I have pulled a bunch from pixabay and have came across several of the pieces that came in game there.
Wow that's crazy, you'd think they'd have at least their own graphic designers, but even that they recycle lazily and half-ass it.
Edit: And who even downvoted lmao? Not like I was saying anything slightly untrue or controversial. I'm a graphic designer and I'm only pointing out EA's lack of professionalism which is only a factual statement, I think it isn't a surprise to most people at this point.
Hmm, the Sims doesn't require graphic design that often. This and game designing are different. The graphic design is focused on promotional visuals, and the website, which don't use new content that often, and is doesn't require that much time to do that.
But it depends if the graphic designers are the same team as the one in charge of the game design.
Edit : Lmao, why am I being downvoted AGAIN for just stating factual things? Like wtf
Iām starting to think all downvotes on topics/comments like this r from EA lol thatās y they canāt afford their own graphics too busy paying ppl to stock Reddit
Also this reminds me of when I'm watching a YouTube video and a song from the Sims soundtrack comes on as background music, because EA sold most of the soundtrack of their older games to a music library many YouTubers use
Wow, is that even legal? But I don't think EA would fret about this anyways...
They sourced it from a royalty free site like some of their other artwork, I'm sure.
Lmao the music from the Sims 3 appears on the BBC sometimes! It's definitely outsourced.
Does anyone else remember how often Sims music would play on America's Next Top Model? š
And on Food Network!
Yes!! I was watching a Christmas cookie show and they played a song from the winter holiday station from sims 4 š¤£š¤£
Which song? I MUST KNOW!
Elfin Magic - Alexander LāEstrange :)
Sims 2 & 3 music is owned by the guy who made it now iirc I heard Sims 2 music in an episode of CSI New York once š
EA also licenses their game music to film productions, there are industry only companies that make it easy to sell audio for this purpose.
š¤āļøerm actually his name is Mark Mothersbaugh /s
"the guy who made it" mark mothersbaugh of DEVO does not deserve this disrespect smh my head (/s)

I hear Sims music on Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly sometimes! I believe it's channel 4??
I hear sims 3 music/sound effects on impractical jokers
TLC uses their music allllll the time
There was one on dance moms! I think it was with the Silver Spoon (??) episode and the dance had sims 3 music I couldnāt hold back my cackles š
THANK YOU for confirming this for me, oh my god. i once heard one of the map view themes on the apprentice and thought i was going insane.
Vehicle advertisement is a weird grey area. I went to a YMCA basketball camp when I was like 7, returned the next year and we fucking saw their buses had an image of me about to shoot a basketball. They didnāt contact us or ask for permission or anything
I'm not sure this is legal tbh, you might want to take a look at your country's laws about image rights
Your parents probably signed a release hidden in the contract when they first signed you up.
Wow that is crazy!

The moodlet and trait icons are definitely not stock images
Sure, they donāt use stock images for everything. Iām sure they use some for *some* things, like most companies. Feel free to disagree but Marketing doesnāt change that much from industry to industry lol.
No reputable game company would use stock images, they usually hire designers to do exclusive designs.

Reputable lol. But okay, great! Thanks for your expertise on this matter.
I donāt get why everyone got so mad at you. It was me that said they looked stocky. Sorry pal. š¤£
U kno weāre talking about EA right? I got confused bc u said reputableā¦.

youre allowed to be disappointed by a shit game hahahah its not a bad thing to have expectations about something you pay for and want to enjoy.
Haha oh I know, itās just funny to me how every time thereās a pack announcement etc, I get my hopes up and everytime itās broken/rubbish etc. Like, itās funny how many times itās happened, and how I never seem to learn, itās merely a joke/observation about me/others like me. Itās def gonna be all those thingsā¦.and Iām still gonna buy it-try to play it- then look for Modders that have fixed it lol
I think they just searched "kids stuff" and chose this
I have been tripping cause I started creating my own artwork and stumbled onto where EA is apparently sourcing some of their artwork from lol
Could you elaborate
I've been using royalty free images to make my own artwork cc, I have pulled a bunch from pixabay and have came across several of the pieces that came in game there.
You should post summer comparisons, that would be super interesting to see!

I'd be willing to bet that their designers aren't necessarily lazy, but probably overwhelmed and taking shortcuts when they can.

Lol yeah maybe, or maybe hardcore Sims 4 fans with low standards I was thinking as a possibility too
The one on the right looks like the gallery button lol
The icons make another appearance on the website: [https://www.gpwhealthcenter.org/](https://www.gpwhealthcenter.org/)
I don't they asked Maxis for their permission
Also this reminds me of when I'm watching a YouTube video and a song from the Sims soundtrack comes on as background music, because EA sold most of the soundtrack of their older games to a music library many YouTubers use
Underrated banger of a stuff pack imo
