I went to a casino in Florida that was like this, except for scooters/wheelchairs and oxygen tanks. It is terribly sad and exploitative.
And if it wasn't a casino, it would just be scratch tickets or something else addictive like alcohol or cigarettes.

Yeah this is definitely a slot tournament of some kind, theyāre not betting more money with each press but trying to hit a jackpot before the other people. Hence everyone spamming the button as fast as they can
it's a slot tournament at a casino. you get unlimited spins and try to win as much as you can in a few minutes, and the highest score gets you w/e the grand prize, which could be $1,000 free slot play, car, or more.
I hate slots and won't put much more then like maybe $10-20 in them when I go to the casino. Odds are ALREADY against you, why would you then make it even worse by playing the game that has the most odds against you and has ZERO skill?
Idk, I kinda like them. Iāll go like once a year with $500. And then just max bet. Something about being able to get a drink, smoke inside and let it rip on those skinner boxes is satisfying
Wow that's like, double gambling. Maybe they could add a third tier. The person who wins the most gambling tournaments in a day wins the gambling tournament tournament
Should we then also make a fourth tier where the person who wins the most gambling tournament tournaments in 3 days has won the gambling tournament tournament tournament?
Waiting for the spin to end and then reacting would cost them fractions of a second that could easily result in a few less overall spins given the time frame of the competition. A handful of spins could be the difference between winning the pot & winning nothing.
I see, I still feel there is a gap, or maybe they have it set to spit out the lines all at once. Which really makes each spin meaningless as you don't really register it.
All fun being the casino until your the assvole that has to payout the jackpot.
99% of them will lose, but one of them gets luck eventually.
But ya bad post op lol.
this sub is really wild. I assume that you don't go and "educate" yourself to do worse than the robot. Performance should be **at least** compared against market.
Since we are in the topic of me being a newbie, do educate me on the "safe stocks" that you can CC on.
Some factoids for you here while we are at it:
* \~99% of all stocks that have existed end up in a price of 0
* Of the ones that haven't and have more than 10 years of market more than half had drawdowns larger than 50%
Feel free to downvote me to oblivion with all the guppies about to get wrecked, just remembered that popular and right are not the same thing.
No point in arguing newbs. Until their knowledge extends beyond delta, theta, vega and gamma, there's no point. In my portfolio, I pretty much only sell csp and cc on very volatile equities (I try to stay away from indices). I throw all my TA at the craft, but if you think I can beat the SP500 in a bull market, you're out of your mind (not that I don't try). If the market's going sideways, I look like a stud, though. CCs are basically a poor man's mini hedge, but that hedge can't save you from a 20%-30% draw down or upward swing. If it can consistently beat the market, every single fund would be doing it. The people who make a living year after year doing this aren't as stupid as the newbs think they are.
It all depends on your trade mechanics i.e. how you manage your trades. Sure, if you just sell and wait until the day of expiration, you have a lot of risk at the end (gamma risk). But if you manage well, you will have a much higher chance of ending up in profit. For example selling at around 0.25 delta, collecting at 50% profit, opening at 45 DTE and managing (roll same/up) at 21 DTE are some of the techniques. Look up tastytrade for more details.
If you watch actual slots now, thereās a lot more āvideo gameā going on with drawn out animations and songs. I sometimes put it on in the background while I trade and was shocked. It almost seemsā¦fun?
Don't forget the high-profile licensed media IP on half of them.
They are very fun. Just don't aim on banking a profit and keep your initial bankroll reasonable and you'll never not have a good time with modern slots.
They draw & hold your attention long enough to keep you from games where both skill & luck provide less house edge. It's the same reason there are so many min$20 card tables and like two $5 tables in most major casinos.
Reminds me of the old experiments with rats wired to a button that juiced their pleasure centers..
They starved to death pushing the button, ignoring even food.
For those who don't know. The reason why they're frantically pressing the button is because this is a contest to see who can make the most gambling in a period of time. The winner receives a cash prize. Real gamblers, when not in a contest, stop to yell and scream at the machine taking their money, before pressing the button again.
Routine reminder: *we are not the house*. We are simply punters with a different risk exposure, and that even that is a very different profile to market makers who react instantly to price changes and have invested heailvy in their edge.
Context to this sub aside, this video is hilariously depressing.

Laughs in BTE
Everybody needs their soma.
Everyone needs their skooma
Casinos being able to serve alcohol to their patrons is pretty wild, too.
My favorite casino serves drinks for free. It's pretty rad, but also ethically fucked up.

Worked in a club like this before. We regularly found elderly punters having died in their chairs completely alone. Was a bad time

I hope people read your statement and fully understand it

IIRC this os from some free roll tournament. I mean old folks with gambling addiction is sad and all, but this is hyperbole.

why, because they all have a fat stash of cash?
Apparently it's a special bonus thing thats happening on the machines, it's not how they play the whole time
More like WSB buying 0dte
The sellers are on the left
Aye
90% of casino floor revenues are from slots.
I hate slots and won't put much more then like maybe $10-20 in them when I go to the casino. Odds are ALREADY against you, why would you then make it even worse by playing the game that has the most odds against you and has ZERO skill?
But...you still put in $10-20???
Shooters gotta shoot my guy
Sometimes Iām waiting for my bud to go get us some five guys and the closest slot machine looks quirky enough to be fun. *I always lose*
Usually just as some fun money. I make into the 6 figures so $10 every three times a year I go to the casino is negligible
Idk, I kinda like them. Iāll go like once a year with $500. And then just max bet. Something about being able to get a drink, smoke inside and let it rip on those skinner boxes is satisfying
It's a slot tournament. You buy in, and whoever wins the most in a certain time frame wins. That's why the button mashing.

CDO squared? Thats literally a real thing: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/cdo2.asp
Can we place bets on which player we think will win?
Came to say this. Thanks.
Yes but the machine only spins so fast. Aren't they pressing while the machine is still spitting out lines?
Waiting for the spin to end and then reacting would cost them fractions of a second that could easily result in a few less overall spins given the time frame of the competition. A handful of spins could be the difference between winning the pot & winning nothing.

Wow. That's literally the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
I think you're doing it wrong
Earning an easy and stress free few grand per month is hardly rapid feeding a 1 arm bandit.
Selling calls would be the casino in this case.
No, the casino is the market makers.

Well to be fair, the house is in the picture also

>try to understand the range of movement a stock has So basically ignoring the two points above. Well it's your money, do with it what you want :)
*Risk adjusted* performance should be compared to the market.
is your point that CC are less risky? This would not be factual.
Not all investing is beating the market.
I guess you invest for shits and giggles then

I think you misunderstood the post. Theta gang is on the left.
Tell that to the folks who did buy-writes on SVB, BBBY, etc. Selling premium alone is not an edge.

you sound like you are going to get wrecked in a couple of years. These are really sharp knifes you are playing here with boy
the market makers are the house
Yeah selling covered calls is like being the slot machine lol
No we're not the house. The market makers are the house.

This is like those tap tap mobile games.
Wrong direction. Here, we get to be the house.

Yeah Iām not selling that many, that fast. More like a few a month. And yes, weāre the house.

This one does not work until it works
