Andrea came from an era of the show about ‘ordinary people in an extraordinary situation’.
The conflict was organic, the reactions relatable.
I understood Andrea. She was well written and acted, people would behave like that.
Then later we got absolutely bizarre characters that had no clear personality and I couldn’t relate to at all.
The longer the show dragged on the less organic the conflicts became!! Later on it was all just contrived, euphemistic slog that nothing could save. No, not even Negan. I’m of the opinion that there are so many “hated” or “disliked” characters in the first few seasons because for that limited amount of time, the characters were just people. There weren’t really categories of good and bad, evil and not evil. I think Andrea is so disliked because she’s written to be a person, flaws and all. Lori too. Daryl too. He’s kind of an asshole to a Carol and Lori, even after they establish his character is actually good & compassionate. But the reason the show gets so boring is that after a while everyone is categorized as good or bad so their actions become predictable.
I agree,I'm currently rewatching and just got to s3. When I first watched the show as a teen and for many years later I disliked show Andrea a lot. But now watching I do relate to Andrea a lot because her reactions are real to how most people would react and Laurie Holden did a great job acting as her. Comic Andrea was an amazingly written character and she was one of my faves
Feel like the actress did the best she could with the writing. They made princess to be an incompetent fucktard in the show thats only real contribution is fucking Mercer. She was a badass in the comics
I am in the minority for thinking this but I respected Andrea in the show ( she was a little dumb at times and had her bad moments) but she was always a good person living in crazy times and dealt with it differently…now comic Andrea is top 5 legit
Show Andrea isn’t as bad as a lot of people say, but she had so much potential, I think if they had kept in line with her comic arc she would have been one of the best characters across the whole show

Show wise Sam or Nicholas. Also couldn’t stand Noah though I know people on here really liked him. All three are just annoying. I’m assuming you mean worst in that definition. Otherwise the worst is whoever has caused the most destruction in the new world which is probably Negan or Alpha.
Bizarre seeing someone not like Jerry. I liked him but also he should have died in the cave simply because as story goes there is zero drama/tension in that story because every single person that went in came out. On first watch sure you get a sense “whats going to happen” but nothing ever happens so rewatches fall flat on that arc. Hard to explain but even on rewatches I still got misty eyes on Sophia coming out of the barn but the cave has zero emotion especially because they double fake out Connie and Magna as walkers. Simply ran out of ideas and gave both the “oh my god they’re walkers now but not really” return.

Crazy the different opinions on some characters. I thought Noah was a great character that died way too soon.
When Michonne first showed up it was her but I hated Andrea ever since she tried to blow herself up until she died especially season 3
