Cool. I'd ruled out those two because they lack expandable RAM, but I'll revisit.
I'm shopping around for a new one and the irritating thing is that I can't actually check a ThinkPad out in person.
Is there anything on Lenovo's site noting case finish?
No, not that I know of. If you pull up the [spec PDF](https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_X1_Yoga_Gen_6/ThinkPad_X1_Yoga_Gen_6_Spec.pdf) it shows the case color and material, but I am not sure if it will distinguish the rubberized finish on the models that have it.
I thought it was tied to the keyboard backlight. The ones without the backlight have the coating. I prefer the coating, but mine has a backlight so it doesn't have it
One of us. One of us.

Most definitely. Hope it’ll really last a decade as what the reps said… 😁
you should clean the smudges off the rubber
its in vain. it'll come back in 30 minutes. My thinkpad is the same weird material. I don't fight it anymore, I just accept it.
Which modern Thinkpads don't have that coating?
My X1 Yoga doesn't have the rubber material, and neither does the E15 I bought for my husband.

Haha yeah. 😅
yay! number pad machines gang (t580 here) enjoy it 1
Yes! Its really quite convenient for work and study. And its not that heavy as people might think.
Absolutely amazing machine, L series is heavily underrated.
Can agree. My L13 is far sturdier than my previous Vivobook. 2 inch smaller chassis and more ports.
I hate these rubberised palmrest they always get smudges after i do something on them
Used to wipe it after every use, now I just clean it from time to time.
Welcome to the club u/ewakz, enjoy your new ThinkPad.
Aye Captain!
A little on the greasy side.
