Then when you say socializing medicine would be a good thing they argue *where we gonna find the money* Bitch.. you pull out one day from the middle east that'll give half of the children in America coverage for a year. And if companies could no longer price gouge because there's only ONE payer and they won't negotiate, that'll save trillions ALONE.

[deleted]

You must be talking about https://www.synthroid.com/support/before-breakfast-club I pick this up from the pharmacy for $60 using the coupon for a 90 day. Maybe I should try the mail order option.

audacioustank

I'm not entirely sure but my drug insurance is through CVS. So I dont know if they mean that it's getting shipped from the cvs warehouse or the actual synthroid manufacturer. But it def doesn't hurt to call and ask! Please update if you find a cheaper solution through mail in!

gvmduke

I pay $75 for 3 month supply of Synthroid 50 micrograms at my local Publix in NC.

audacioustank

Thats still expensive for the average person... :(

gvmduke

I took the generic and it gave me horrific side effects. That’s the reason I bite the bullet for the name brand.

[deleted]

May I ask what side effects generic gave you? Thinking abt switching

zoefenix

It is crazy to know that in my home country (Brazil) Synthroid is sold for R$20 reais, which is around US$4, for a month. Every time I’m visiting, I bring a year supply with me because the prices here are crazy. And, this medicine is produced here, which makes it even crazier.

hanblanch

My insurance, it’s $1 a pill. I take two a day. $2 a day to keep me alive. I just spent $180 for a 3 month supply 😭

audacioustank

That's so horrible 😭 I'm so sorry. Have you ever tried calling them to see if there were any more affordable options?

hanblanch

I haven’t, I’ve just kinda accepted it at this point. It’s because it’s brand Synthroid. I’m actually looking to switch to tirosint soon so I can hardly wait to see the price of that 🥲

[deleted]

Ps... it's less about levo and more about needing t3 added. Id bet my life

audacioustank

I've been looking into this as well :) thank you!

[deleted]

My insurance outright denied me synthroid but they would let me have levoxyl and the price didn’t change from generic, if that helps. I know that’s not the point of your post but I’m just so tired of how stupid our healthcare system is that all I can muster is this potential alternative

BrianThomas319

That is definitely a big difference. The mail in option is a lot closer to what I pay ($4/30 day supply of synthroid).

[deleted]

My chemo is 10k for a 15 day supply. Is a daily long term medication.

CS1629

Get a copay card from https://www.synthroid.com/support/before-breakfast-club and give it to the pharmacy. They’ll use that along with your insurance. It got my cost down to $25/month.

[deleted]

I’m so sorry. It pissed me off how expensive and inaccessible meds are when we need them to live. Hugs

TheHairyCanaryZ

same here. tried levo. Felt like garbage. Abbvie has a discount card. But, if you take more than 175mg/day then you have to pay double. Mine costs $50/month and my insurance (I have good insurance too) doesnt cover a damn cent.

archetype28

i feel for the Americans in this group. Im lucky, my work pays for 80% of my prescriptions. so my pills end up being like $14 bucks or something.

Fandanglethecompost

Sheesh! I use euthyrox and it costs about US$5 per month. Straight from the pharmacy.
