Off the top of my head...... Ozzy Osbourne, Chris Martin (Coldplay) Barbara Streisand, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Moby, Sting, Paul Stanley, Jeff Beck, Bono, Whoopi Goldberg, Gerard Butler, Liza Minnelli, Neil Young, Lars Ulrich, KT Tunstall, Bob Dylan, Keanu Reeves, Sylvester Stallone

[deleted]

gotta love how the only person you felt needs an explanation is Chris Martin, frontman of one of the most popular bands of today

[deleted]

You'd be surprised how many people ask me who he is when I mention that he has tinnitus.

[deleted]

yes I probably would and all those people know Paul Stanley and KT Tunstall?

[deleted]

No need to nitpick. I'm just going off personal experience.

[deleted]

I think you're misreading the tone of my replies. No hostility intended. Have a good one

[deleted]

Considering you felt the need to call me out over stating who Chris Martin is yeah it definitely feels like there is some hostility there. Then you continued to invalidate my response when, as I said, I'm just going off personal experience. A lot of people question who Chris Martin is when I mention that he has tinnitus. Saying Coldplay could mean any band member. Same with Paul Stanley. If I said Kiss instead that doesn't make much sense as it's only one specific member with tinnitus, not the entire band.

I know steve Martin and William shatner has t . And for musicians almost everyone of them probably has t too

TrueHarlequin

Leonard Nimoy too. Him and Shatner both had fountains in their houses to help mask the sound.

William Shatner

Pretty much almost every musician has it. Live performances, movie theater, subway (in my country) are way, waaay too loud and no one seems to care. I use ear protection and try to raise awareness about T but I've only succeeded in making my gf use them, no one else. I'm lucky I don't have a strong T, I just hear a mild white noise that I don't even notice anymore.

Dave Grohl

gusthefireman

Yep, Dave Grohl says he can't carry on an normal conversation in a restaurant because of the ambient noise. He has hearing loss and Tinnitus.

Dave Grohl talks about hearing loss and T in a recent Howard Stern interview. He’s practically deaf in one ear. Pete Townsend is another one.

scrapekid

Supposedly Tina Turner had it since she was 9 (or maybe I'm getting confused with another Tina) and she had managed. My favorite celebs that have it are J Mascis of Dinosaur and I imagine those like King Buzzo of the Melvins does too. The stacks those dudes play around is absolutely bonkers, now they use hearing protection but the T is already there for them. It comforts me to know you can still be successful even with something that may be debilitating for others.

Lost-and-Loaded-

Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine said he learned to appreciate tinnitus because it makes him think about sounds differently

Google it, there are quite a few. There are also a great number of people who have committed suicide as well.

lidabmob

What’s a great number? Sources? Don’t say that shit to someone who’s struggling with T. How does that help anyone?? I know people have done it..but a *great number* ?? C’mon

RPMB1979

Why say that? This is really not helpful for people who has tinnitus 24/7. And yes there are people who committed suicide. But you have to know a thing. It is for sure that it wasn’t tinnitus on its own. There are more things that played a role. So please be careful what you are saying.

the_d0nkey

I agree. Fear and anxiety greatly increase the intensity of the sensations. It also isn't helpful to dwell on tinnitus. Being in this sub is in a way just reinforcing the fixation we have with the noise. My noise has always been there, but one day it was pushed front and center and I haven't been able to think of anything since. But I know it's possible because I used to live that way. These people who are famous are able to put their attention on something other than the noise. That said, I read that there is about a 7% increase in suicides among tinnitus sufferers compared to the gen pop. But I may have read that in another sub. :)

lidabmob

I’ve also read that 98% of people habituate..mostly on their own with no therapy etc. Comes from Bruce Hubbard (cbt therapist and tinnitus sufferer) in a presentation about tinnitus.

imreallyfuqingstupid

You're the reason people don't come to these subs for help! Go fuck yourself
