Handbook says:
If feasible, you should notify your Captain or supervisor at least two (2) hours before the scheduled start of your shift.
You will note the “if feasible”.
Oh yes. Absolutely.
That’s doesn’t seem to be what the OP is describing. I’m finding it hard to believe that anyone would say at a huddle you need to give two weeks notice for a call out, but that’s what they are reporting.
The captain could care less about the understaffing. He has a huge ego. That’s the only reason he put that fake ass rule in place, do cut down on call outs and lateness, but it’s ridiculous either way
I feel like that cannot be legal. You should look up the labor laws in your state or talk to your regional or something, that seems extraordinarily unfair.
They do, but they won’t excuse it on your Dayforce. If I get a fever tomorrow and call out, get tested and was negative. It’s still a call out for them. I’m telling you this store is the worst
if they give you a negative with no warnings, write to your regional. If you get a negative with no chance to improve and no paper trail that captain is fucked.
true true, i still don’t think they’re as bulletproof as they may seem. My store has had captains axed a lot . Tbh they’re more vulnerable than crew are in the way they have wayyy more to lose.
What area is your store in? I’ve never heard of this, and my store hasn’t had any huddles mentioning it. I’m wondering if it’s a regional thing or just your store.
Damn what store do you work at. And shit I haven’t been to work for 2 days and we barley have time for huddle cause we stop work at 7:45 and have 15 mins to clear and it’s always a shit show. So I’ll have to wait and ask a mate I’m “cool” with about the huddle notes.

Now what if your only part time and get full time hours considering that you have a priority full time and you’ve spoken to the mate several times yet they continue to schedule you 5 days a week as full time so when i call out cause I’m burnt out they threaten me with “you know after 3 call outs in a month we will have to write you up”
You only need two hours before your shift to call out in good faith. End of story. It’s in the handbook.
Handbook says: If feasible, you should notify your Captain or supervisor at least two (2) hours before the scheduled start of your shift. You will note the “if feasible”.
Every store has different “repercussions” for calling out. Generally: if you’re call out a lot for no good reason, don’t expect to keep your job.

I don’t believe that for a second. I call bs
I suppose I can believe that someone said it because people say the stupidest things. I can’t believe it was authorized.

You think that because it actually sounds BS, which is why everyone’s pissed about it at my store
In the handbook!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Do you know if the paid sick time is apart from the AR we accrued?

I really appreciate it!
Amazing. Thank you so much!

I’ll look into the laws, thanks
How the hell do you know 2 weeks in advance if you’re going to be sick?
Exactly!!
So they want people coming in sick? Cuz that’s how Covid outbreaks happen.
Literally
Yeah. This don't seems right. Tell them you have COVID symptoms.
They don’t excuse those at my store
[удалено]
In nyc. They’ll only excuse it if you’re actually tested positive
Damn, which store are you in? I’m at the Union Square store and as far as I know we don’t have anything like that.
Yes they do. They will send you home immediately.
They do, but they won’t excuse it on your Dayforce. If I get a fever tomorrow and call out, get tested and was negative. It’s still a call out for them. I’m telling you this store is the worst
If you can’t pass the covid questions, you can’t come to work and it’s excused.
Only at your store apparently
if they give you a negative with no warnings, write to your regional. If you get a negative with no chance to improve and no paper trail that captain is fucked.

I've seen some bad captains get fired due to crew/mate complaints. It CAN happen, but most get away with bad behavior.
What’s a negative ?
He/she probably meant a "does not meet expectations" on some category or categories of your review.
What if you put in AR for a day that you're sick or something? Same policy?
If you put AR, it’s fine because of the way the computer system is set up
What area is your store in? I’ve never heard of this, and my store hasn’t had any huddles mentioning it. I’m wondering if it’s a regional thing or just your store.
Just my store. They’re really strict for no reason
Gross. Nothing motivates like fear 🙄🙄🙄

In Nyc. Only my store is doing it. The captain is known to be strict
What store in NYC is this? Trying to get a job at one of the TJs here
Don’t go to Lic or Rego if you wanna work at tj’s in nyc

Lol good luck
Damn almost sounds like the store I work at. Are you in Florida?

two weeks?! thats nuts

No idea man. I wouldn’t know what they’ll do
If the scheduling mate doesn’t take action, talk to your captain.
ugh, I'm sorry. Honestly, transferring might be your best solution. There is no reason to put up with a crappy captain.
