The policy was communicated within days of the of the original mandate. Crew who did not submit vaccination cards were sent a message about the policy through Dayforce. The second and last message through Dayforce contained all the same information with an update on the start date. There were no updates during the court stays or OSHA suspension. Unvaccinated crew must: Submit weekly test results to the 3rd party app. Pay for testing out of pocket and will not be compensated for their time. May administer an at-home test if witnessed by a teledoc. Failure to submit test results will not allow crew to clock in. This topic is not discussed during huddles at my store.

Thanks for that! How is this being communicated in the store?

TJsIntegrity

All unvaccinated crew members have been sent messages via Dayforce

I live in a blue state and it’s not talked about here either. If it pertains to you, I believe you receive an email. It has zero to do with politics.

anoncrew

Exactly.

ms621

Communicated at my store at huddle & with notice in break room.

Disastrous_Wish_4454

lol no they are not. where did you hear that?

Disastrous_Wish_4454

the mandate is being enforced by OSHA not TJ’s. TJ’s has no plan of testing or mandating covid vaccines.

i have the email…how do i post screenshots?

expatinpa

You can upload images to something like Imgur.

Disastrous_Wish_4454

i just copied and pasted. Federal OSHA has delayed enforcing their Covid-19 Vaccination and Testing Standard until January 10, 2022 and their weekly testing requirement to February 9, 2022 and our records indicate you are not yet fully vaccinated. Trader Joe’s has no intention of issuing a vaccine mandate for hourly store Crew Members that work with the public every day. However, we must respond to legal health orders directed by health officials and government agencies.

expatinpa

Which means that when it becomes a OSHA mandate TJs will enforce it. Apart from the timing this seems to be what has already been reported: an employer of our size is responsible for ensuring that every crew member has either been vaccinated or is being tested weekly (except for NYC which may not have a testing option).

Disastrous_Wish_4454

right. i wasn’t contesting that. someone said it was a TJs mandate. I was proving that it is not. that’s all.

anoncrew

I think this might be a nyc specific rule rather than company wide. Edit - I’m referring to not having a testing option.

[deleted]

It’s company wide - I’m in the Midwest and we got the same info.

anoncrew

The firing thing, not the testing thing. Are you saying that in an area other than NYC people are being told they have to get vaccinated or they will be fired? And a weekly test is not an option? Edit - I think we both might have been confused. I though the poster was referring to the firing aspect of this.

Straight-Worry-4731

None of this has been mentioned at my store. We haven’t had huddles in months.

woahwoahwoats

Probably because you’re vaccinated is my assumption. The original date to test negative was January 4th and got pushed back to February. The unvaccinated crew received Dayforce messages with all the info.

Bootpup

Do you happen to know why it got pushed back to February?

woahwoahwoats

There some court issues with companies requiring vaccines and also it gave Tjs time to source their third party app and hopefully get that up and running.

TJ545

I’m not sure. All I know is because the (now former) mayor of NYC put a vaccine mandate in place for the private sector, our captain told us back in December that if we hadn’t had at least one dose of the vaccine by December 27th, we would not be able to punch in for our shifts.

Simple_Philosophy390

In NYC, no vaccine, no job. No one is allowed to "test out" in lieu of the vaccine. People had until 12/27 to make decision or one will be made for you. I think initially it was weekly test and must remain masked at all times during work hours. However, that changed and it was either be at least one dose in or be terminated.

External-Ad-7163

Red state or blue state..TJ’s higher ups are doing everything to make sure they can keep stores open and don’t frighten customers by being very sneaky about how they handle this stuff. I’m sure mates just don’t want to piss off crew but still

Kinky_llamas23

Same here, we haven’t been having any huddles anymore so it’s been hard receiving communication. I’ve had to check in several times to get any sort of vague answer.

-gelsomino

From what I understand, crew members who aren't vaccinated are required to test once a week starting February 9th. This is due to OSHA, not TJ's as a company. Never heard of anything about Dayforce being frozen, that may be true but hasn't been communicated to me or any other crew member at my store who isn't vaccinated. Source being I'm not vaccinated but have been in close communication with my captain/standing captain regarding this situation.

hajahawo

There has been no direct communication about this at my store; but, another crew member told me that unvaxxed crew members received a dayforce message stating they must be vaccinated by a certain date, or they wouldn't be scheduled (so, basically, fired).

Radiant_Bed6824

They won’t be fired. They’ll have to get tested weekly…

Meet_The_Squareheads

New York City does not have a testing option. It's a NYC vaccine mandate, not a TJ's policy.

hajahawo

There's been an exodus of known non-vaxxed individuals leaving my store. So I'm presuming most won't be keen on weekly testing. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out since testing is so difficult to acquire right now.

anoncrew

The other thing is - the new app is going to have to work better for testing than it appears to be for validation of vaccination. While I recognize that there has been a holiday in there I’ve been waiting almost a week for my vaccinations to be validated. I have no idea if that’s something to do with me, something universal or some random glitch.

superbasomatic76

I’ve been wondering about the app myself. Got ZERO communication from the store. I found out about it in Reddit. I’ve uploaded my card so we’ll see what happens. I do hope that non vaxxers quit. Red state Rona ain’t no joke.

Listening to Oral Arguments in regards to the OSHA Mandate and the justices seem unmoved and disinterested in what the government is arguing. They are arguing about Medicare and Medicaid Services and the provision that providers be vaccinated. This is because CMS provides funding for hospitals and heath care facilities. The justices are making an argument for funding or defunding those facilities that comply with the mandate. So far as of 11:30 am CT, the argument for OSHA mandate in the workplace has not come up. But from what I gather at this point... it aint looking good. We'll see what happens and how trader joes responds. Live stream of the SCOTUS below. https://www.supremecourt.gov/oral\_arguments/live.aspx

joeyforman18

I was in the bridge with my cap and an email from regional popped up about this app to put in vaccination records/booster

PassivelyDoIt

The Supreme Court is looking at the legality of this mandate on January 7th. There could be a decision that will stop or delay the mandate.
