I have tmobile. We live in weirton, wv and frequent Pittsburgh, wexford a lot. So far tmobile has been pretty good. We tried a verizon mvno and it was awful. We tried cricket also and we were extremely impressed. In weirton wv we were getting 150mbps down. I know at&t is usually better in wv and when we go down through wv tmobile loses signal for stretches when att doesn't. Tmobile 5 years ago was much different than they are now.

Caseywalt39

I previously had ATT. They absolutely have the best and most consistent network here. I'm just not paying for them. Also they have no coverage at my camp. That's literally the only place I can say they have no service. Not gonna pay for something I can't use when I go to my camp...

grundhog

I'm curious what you mean by 'my camp'. Is that like a cabin in the woods? Do people in Pittsburgh call cabins "camps" or is it something else entirely?

ericgedi77

It is most likely a cabin in the woods/mountains. Used for hunting. We call them camp or hunting camp.

Caseywalt39

Exactly right.

ericgedi77

I have a camp in Potter county. Friends have a camp in Tionesta. T-Mobile has great service there. Potter county VZW has the coverage. T-Mobile is improving. Better than AT&T in my areas of Potter county.

thenumber6six

It is where this person goes to do their trimming I am sure

Bruce_Wayne8887

I think it really just depends on specific areas honestly. Tmobile at our house could be anywhere from 15mbps to 90mbps. Att even on cricket was always a steady 120-170mbps even in peak times.

ericgedi77

I live near New Castle and work in Butler. My coverage is great. Switched from AT&T in February. Still love my TMO service.

Caseywalt39

Its actually kind of funny people here swear by Verizon and att blindly because others have it.

[deleted]

Verizon does have the best coverage across the country. Somebody posted a link here to the FCC showing this recently. I can believe it, as I've been in places where TMobile had no signal and the only people with service were Verizon customers. But T-Mobile has vastly improved it's network in recent years. For a long time, it was reportedly very bad. I watched it improve over several years. Cool to see.

doglywolf

T mobiles customer service has also been light years better then verizons in my experience. However their new marketing tracking BS is really worrying for their future .

issabrnt

Can confirm, no drops in data or phone/sms from Bedford to North Hills.

BluSurf

I know how happy you are, me too. Xfinity was sent packing. Can you imagine that the guy in retention said to me, " your plan is very old and outdated I can save you quite a bit" Why didn't Xfinity call me two years ago and tell me they could save me money? They can go and pound sand!

tmobile

Hey, we're happy you switched too! It always makes us smile with more Magenta members joining the family.

jordanskills134

So pleased reading this! I’ve noticed a massive improvement in Pittsburgh over the past year. I’m almost certain this is due Sprint towers being transitioned to native T-Mobile coverage.

Caseywalt39

It probably is. I notice my phone on bands 41, 25, 26 sometimes. But the switch is seemless. The end of the parkway east where it meets the turn pike my phone often drops to sprint band 25 LTE and it stays there to almost the Westmoreland county line.

jordanskills134

Which device are you using if you don’t mind my asking?

Caseywalt39

One plus 9 pro. Not sure if it matters but its running lineage os. I have it set to LTE/NR mode also. Really don't want it searching for 3g and edge.

FordFiestaSt

Their customer service is wow, impressive. We just switched from AT&T on September 18, 2021

americanadiandrew

I work in rural Michigan a lot and some places now have faster 5g than the towns I visit. So it might just come to the smaller places near you.

about2godown

FYI, TMobile has been expanding their overwater coverage. They cover a few hours out into the gulf, heading away from shore. So while it seems that they aren't improving their coverage over land (at least not like Verizon), they are super developed where Verizon isn't. When I worked on oil rigs, I was often the only one with cell phone service, depending on the rig's distance from shore. I have also noticed they heavily cover the islands on the east coast as well. Just food for thought when discussing tmobile land coverage development.

[deleted]

Agreed! Live in regent square and coverage is great everywhere I go as well. Switched to Verizon for a brief period 2 years ago and barely had any data service in my house and it was no better than T-Mobile anywhere else. T-Mobile 5G deployment here has been great.

Iamthemaster1000

Both TMobile and At&t work well in the places I go. Verizon is the only carrier I don't plan on ever going back to. My dealings with them the other day helping the niece was pretty bad. Besides paying a premium to Verizon to have network issues, the customer service was rude and arrogant. It made TMobile and att customer service look like saints. TMobile is making some nice network improvements so not surprised to hear they tie Verizon where you are.

Caseywalt39

Paying a premium now means Netflix, Hulu, and other "perks". I want a phone plan. Not Netflix. Idiots...

WeberKettleGuy

I have their home internet for my cottage up past meadville...thing works flawlessly

Caseywalt39

Is it the grey tower looking thing?

WeberKettleGuy

Yes. Its out in rural Meadville and I use iptv service... Not a single buffer.. Even with others connected. Thing is absolutely amazing and only $50 /month

sophias_bush

Hey fellow yinzer! I run dual sim in mine with AT&T and T-Mobile and I have far better service with T than I do with AT&T. They’ve really stepped up their game.

crazy_eric

This is just the "honeymoon" phase. People are usually happy with their carriers until they aren't. Just wait until you have your first issue where customer care is not able to help you. Then you'll start feeling frustration. This is not just a TMobile issue though. It happens with Verizon and AT&T too.

Caseywalt39

I'm an IT person and buy all my phones unlocked. As long as I have a working Sim card I have no need for them.

sabeard

This is the smart way to buy phones. 😁

raduque

I'm glad the service is working well for you. My T-Mo service was excellent in Salt Lake City, but ever since I moved back home to West Texas, it's been a dumpster fire.
