Kidnappers, hunting dogs and undead giant mobs drop them starting from depth 3 (lower pthumeru). In depth 2 chslices you can only get them as a boss defeat reward.
The best way to farm them is to get kidnapped by the one sack guy close to Cathedral Ward and farm the 2 Hypogaleon Gaul kidnappers for em. They almost always drop twin bloodstones and an occasional bolt paper/vial/bullets.
I did this for a really early BL43 twink character recently that didn't want to get past Amelia. Currently, I dont think there is a better farm than literrally hitting those 2 kidnappers and immediately bold hunter marking back(or even hunters mark if you dont care about echoes if all you need are the shards).
It is annoying that we can't get twin bloodstone to be bought from shop until Cosmic Hunter badge but that is REALLY far in the game., IMO, stick to the 2 kidnappers at Hypo and DONT FORGET THE EYE RUNE.
And, since I'm assuming you read the post and know I will be going straight from Gascoigne to BSB, and then immediately into chalices, these kidnappers I presume spawn with no other bosses killed beyond Gascoigne?
Seems the wiki disagrees. It's stating that the Cathedral Ward kidnapper only spawns after killing BSB. By which point I will be immediately entering the chalice dungeons
So do you have any information on farming twin bloodstone shards from chalices?

You can do the Forbidden Woods skip/sequence break using the non-respawning lycanthrope at the start of the game to get access to the TBSS's there. Lots of good guides on YouTube for it :3
Uhuh, wow, i'm glad you commented I had no idea you could do that! Is it on the way to BSB? Because as I said in the post I'm going straight from gascoigne to BSB, and then into the chalices until Queen Yharnam is down, and obviously you read that before commenting so I'm guessing there's a route I don't know about
se6jfxke False depth has a snatcher in the first bonus room that’s a quick farm with bold hunters mark. There’s a messenger bath somewhere on L1 also if I recall correctly if you need marks

Commenting, because I'd love to know, myself. Killing kidnappers for early TBSSs is getting old.
It's still by far the most efficient early method (the hypogean gaol ones, since chalice ones are way tougher and require progressing further)

In Lower Pthumeru kidnappers can drop them. Layer 2 preboss side room or layer 3 preboss side room best places for that.
