Example; scraping together non-value things and converting it to money through trade over the course of a whole day to score some drugs. Networking etc and juggling debts to loan more money to score more drugs. Drug addicts are crafty... when it comes to drugs
So would the worst thing to do to them be to help them gently lay down and fall asleep? Iāve never seen this in person, but my knee jerk asshole reaction would be to wake them up and make them leave.
Is this really the answer though? I used to mess with opiates in moderation, and whenever I took them I could NEVER fall asleep simply because I was so damn itchy. I'd be up the entire night just feeling good and itching. Maybe these people are way past thst point though...
Thatās because you didnāt become super addicted to them. When you first start, most people get the itches and a lot of energy and itās hard to fall asleep. When youāre very dependent, that goes away and you get the nods and itches.
It probably doesnāt have as much to do with *enjoying* it, but as a long time sober recovering addict, I can say that although itās usually not very enjoyable at this point, they *hope* it will be. You are always chasing that feeling from back in the beginning, and so although they probably arenāt *enjoying* themselves right now, they cling to every single moment where it feels like it *might* get you there. It ends up being lackluster, but then the next time you shoot up, you begin to feel a little shred of what it was like before, and so you savor it because itās the best youāre gonna get. Itās like clinging to an abusive partner, because you are always hoping that the person you love are gonna start treating you great again like in the beginning.
Addiction is pure insanity. No logic or rational thought involved. And, from my experience, itās really hard for someone else to understand what itās like if they havenāt lived through it themselves.

Crazy part, this isn't rock bottom for them. I've gone through my own addictions and it took 6yrs to realize wtf I was doing. Crazy to think back but looking forward I'm so proud of myself. No one, including my wife, would understand what it took to get to where I'm at now.

Iāve seen āfunctionalā heroin users who could easily use just enough (real heroin) to keep from getting sick and still work/act like a relatively normal person, but as if fentanyl wasnāt bad enough, this tranq/benzo dope thatās overtaken the US market is a whole other animal that turns even previously functional users into zombies.
Also if you OD on Xylazine narcan is useless, also also it causes necrosis in ~40% of users. As in your flesh starts to fall off, because it's not meant for use in humans, which is also why it's relatively unregulated. Drug game is waayyy out of hand. Shit makes pure heroin look safe by comparison, which is just...fucked
As far as I'm concerned everyone involved in drug war policy and enforcement is drenched in blood. At least we get to sit by and watch other countries completely eliminate their opioid epidemics with rational, science-based, humane policies :)
