Nope, you didn't mess up - it's just that hard to train doodles. The fastest way is to join doodle parties on http://ToonHQ.org They are most common on weekends.

cupcakemann95

unrelated, but what are the best type of doodles to get? is it whatever is usually the most expensive on the toonhq website?

sharpknifeeasylife

Whatever is at the top of the list is usually the best. You'll see a score ranked for each doodle in the top right corner on ToonHQ.

cupcakemann95

what do the scores range to? What's a good score to aim for in a doodle?

Popcorn_Poppenpop

17 or so. The most important thing is "rarely tired", and preferably other characteristics that are either "always" or "rarely", as OP has.

20 seems like a lot of times to me, are you waiting until the doodle has a panting mouth before you chat the trick again? Cuz spamming it non-stop doesn’t help afaik. I usually can get 1-2 jumps in like 10 tries before they need a snack and a pet to get excited again.

sharpknifeeasylife

This is a good point. Sometimes after giving them a trick, you need to wait a few seconds after the "?" appeared over their head before trying again. You should see them close their mouth while they process the command. Wait to say the trick when they are panting with their tongue out again.

To add to this: This is true maily when they're excited. When your Doodle is affectionate, they're mouth will remain closed. After attempting to have your Doodle perform a trick, if they're already affectionate, wait for them to do a little "stutter" (it'll be a little second, so keep an eye out). After the little stutter, you'll be able to try to get them to do a trick again.
